  1. If you are used to Oceania/Azamara/Seabourn then I think you will be disappointed with the food in Britannia restaurant where you will done in if you book a balcony cabin. Also there is very little choice on QE other than MDR, buffet or Verandah restaurant which is extra. Also there will be parts of the ship you will not be able to attend if not properly dressed on Formal nights.
  2. Personally think the time taken to disembark and then the risk of getting a taxi without waiting is a bit ambitious to catch a bus at 9-50am. Your only other option is if you can carry your own luggage is to self disembark.
  3. Not what you would expect and certainly not White Star Service that Cunard keep on pushing.
  4. Canapes were available on request on Formal nights and we had invites to the wine tasting on our recent Emerald Princess cruise around British Isles. Having Princess Plus didn't see the point of attending wine tasting so we gave it a miss.
  5. As long as you own shares when you request OBC then it doesn't matter when you booked the cruise before you actually apply.
  6. Making preparations for a, soon to be had, land based holiday in Austria. Had a bad start to the week when I realised cups of coffee and laptops don't mix very well. So been out and purchased new laptop but not going to set it up until I return from holiday. Dreading that as not very tech savvy so expect problems.
  7. He stated he was in "steerage", no such area, but dining in Courtyard will not be available to him.
  8. Ours was showing "pending" for ages prior to the cruise and were never updated at the port or during cruise. They were not checked at Southampton they looked at our printed copies that we took with us.
  9. This latest cancellation is just one of many things that P&O have done this last few years makes me believe my statement that P&O DO treat their loyal customers with contempt and somebody should tell senior management that loyalty is both ways not just from the customer. My own experience with dry docks happened on Oriana pre cruise to a dry dock. We had booked the cruise over 12 months prior to cruise and in true P&O style were not told anything until after balance was paid and close to sailing date. They changed the cruise from 16nts to 14nts, dropped one port completely and every other port of call was the same but different days. All they said is we will give you the value of the 2 nts cancelled in OBC. Good move because I had paid for them 2 nts in cash as per contract yet they wanted to give me value in OBC which would cost them a fraction of price due to high "mark up" of onboard costs. No mention of any other compensation of OBC or what happens to cost of hotels booked or car parking booked which was lost. After many e-mails backwards and forwards of P&O refusing to pay 2nts value in cash once it got to the stage of mentioning legal action their final statement was I couldnt cancel cruise as it was not a major change and would not be offered cash. A final letter from me, not e-mail, said that if I did not receive the 2nts cancelled in cash as per contract and the right to cancel with no loss of money within 14 days I would take legal advice and let the court decide whether I should be reimbursed in cash and whether it was classed as a "major change". Surprise, surprise I received my 2nts cancellation by cheque within 14 days and the right to cancel my cruise at no loss to me.
  10. On recent Emerald cruise neither Sabatini's or Crown Grill were open every night it was either one or the other. But word of advice is Princess Patter was wrong for whole cruise it stated Crown Grill open every night and never mentioned Sabatini's. Also if you do manage to book on DMW on the App either pre cruise or whilst onboard go to restaurant to confirm restaurant is open that night. We booked a meal in Crown Grill via DMW on day of embarkation and when we turned up for meal 5 days later the restaurant was closed and Princess hadnt had the decency to inform me.
  11. That is the down side of Princess Americans like to show off their loyalty. Me being a true Brit and don't want to flaunt my Elite status as soon as we get given our Medallion at the port I take it off the lanyard and put Medallion in pocket. I also don't like how they put your loyalty status on the panel outside your cabin.
  12. Don't think it has anything to do with Europe or where you are in the World as internet is satellite. Think it is more how good the company is that Princess use for this service and whether they can provide.
  13. On our first cruise on QE2 in 1997 midnight buffet was a lavish affair and also was held on many cruise lines but things have changed since then and very few, if any at all hold them now.
  14. Well that has never happened the years we have been cruising with Princess has always had late night food available at International Cafe.
  15. You say you have cruised with Princess a lot well we are Elite and have never known food service 24hrs in the buffet. The buffet has always closed after evening meal and any food service available after that is either room service or International Cafe which is available 24hrs.
  16. Sorry this might upset some but when are P&O going to stop treating their loyal cruisers with utter contempt. Their actions on cancelling Aurora on 5th July so late and having done similar cancellations over other cruises at such a late stage over these last few years is abysmal and they dont deserve the loyalty they get.
  17. Sorry but that is so patronising, snobbish and incorrect to say that about clientele on P&O. We have done over 30+ cruises on P&O and we dont have tattoos, wear bling and get hammered around the pool and neither do many others and to tar everyone with the same brush is totally wrong. As an example having done over 50+ cruises with Cunard/P&O/Princess have only ever seen really bad behaviour once where a waiter and passenger ended up fighting one lunchtime in the buffet restaurant and that was on the QE2. So to say such a statement is so wrong and so far off the truth.
  18. Having cruised on all 3 ships I dont think you can say which is the best it is down to personal choice and everyone is right and nobody wrong. For us personally QM2 is our favourite because we love roundtrip TAs but dont know if this would change in the event we did an actual cruise on her. With reference to QV/QE cannot honestly say that there is much difference except for decor which doesnt impact on us on a cruise and the staff on both have been excellent and cannot say one is better than the other.
  19. Ignore that comment. If you compare like for like say in a balcony stateroom on Cunard and P&O having cruised many times with P&O since 2000 and Cunard since 1997 yes Cunard is better but at a price you pay for. Also consider Cunard/P&O come under the umbrella of Carnival UK and having the same backroom staff in Southampton and IT department so they are closer than many know or imagine. Onboard nobody can deny that Cunard is better but you pay a lot more for the former and to say they are as far apart as Claridge's and Butlins is way off the mark.
  20. Whilst I dont disagree with you saying that the internet was slower and issues with losing time, I dont see how the new internet policy of 50% off any internet package however fast or unlimited is to me as an Elite member of loyalty club. Currently on cruises I purchase Princess Plus which includes unlimited internet, grats and drinks package and do not get any discount being an Elite member. So would not need to buy any extra packages and get 50% off that price when I have unlimited internet with Princess Plus. So because I do not need to purchase internet and do not get 50% reduction on something it is a benefit I will never use so is a loss to me personally.
  21. Our erroneous charges appeared whilst onboard during the cruise and once Cunard were informed the extra charges were cancelled but we were never given apology of why the charges appeared. I have often thought since if I had no noticed these charges would Cunard have noticed, I very much doubt it. Also how many people have been charged extra either onboard or after the cruise and either not noticed or too small amount to worry about chasing refund.
  22. no need to buy internet packages with having Princess Plus so my Elite Loyalty benefits get less and less that they are virtually useless now.
  23. Sorry Sir did not realise it was an English Language lesson 🥱
  24. You cannot internet is part of Princess Plus and you only get 50% discount on separate packages purchased. Therefore if you purchase Princess Plus it is another Elite benefit that is lost.
  25. Sorry if you cannot read more than 3 paragraphs.
