  1. Thanks for that info😀.......I guess my Caribbean sailings have all been 10 or more nights.
  2. WOW...really? I agree with Honolulu Blue.........there are many, many, MANY sadder things than dining alone. I could name some of them but won't as it would be getting WAY off track from the topic. But to give 1 example, some of us live alone and eat alone every day........if you think I am sad because of that? I am glad we are all different that is for sure. I dine on my own all the time. Please don't be sad for me.......I am not sad for myself. Not everyone has a mate/partner/ SO.........life brings everyone different versions. I also don't apply sadness to seeing someone dining alone. I don't know what is going on in their life and why perceive it as sad? They might be happier than you could ever imagine😀
  3. There will probably be 1 formal night..... Yes, most times all the restaurants inside ask the guys to wear jackets. You can eat outside at the Grill for dinner and it is always casual. No jacket necessary. Not sure where you heard the dress code is more relaxed in the Caribbean though. I sailed on Dawn for 11 nights in January and there were 2 formal nights..
  4. Hi Terry, Every Caribbean Cruise I have taken with SS has departed from Ft. Lauderdale.
  5. Well, after multiple calls this morning, I found a Dr that is very near my home that is accepting new patients and I have an appt with him for Friday morning. Actually, it took 4 phone calls to find someone that had something available this soon. One was not accepting new patients and the other 2? It was like 2-4 months before they had any openings😮. The gal that helped me with this one was SUPER helpful😀. So, now it is just wait and see how this new guy is and hopefully will get along with him. It will be my first appt on Medicare LOL........I will let ya'll know how things go!
  6. It is pretty easy to fly to Athens as well.
  7. Yes, I understand. I was in Barcelona last summer and was able to eat at the Rooftop Bar of the hotel and it was a "normal hour", (for me anyway). I was at the Majestic and they had a nice menu out there😀

Hi, Oh, I know what it is but I wonder if folks who request it are the ones who get it. In all my sailings with SS it has never been put in the plastic holder outside of my door.

Hi, I have never received the news sheet you are referring to..........
  10. Hi, normally I am ok on board but to be honest, that specific cruise? What if I told you the HD was in a sweater (It looked like it was hand made and in the shape of a blazer) but he was wearing it quite often. Evenings? I dress the same while in Alaska or the Caribbean as well. Usually a long sleeved top or 3/4 sleeve with slacks and I ALWAYS pack a black cardigan. As for home? I live in the south and the a/c is part of my daily life.
  11. In my opinion, it really depends on the particular ship. I sailed to Alaska last summer and several folks (including me) found it quite chilly on board and I spoke with multiple people in management about it. As far as tights or nylons? Nope, not for me. I wear slacks in the evenings and for Alaska, jeans and/or joggers during the day.
  12. Thanks for the information. I may go with your map😀.....it looks easy to walk from the hotel to the Bus and I see the restaurant too!😀
  13. Thank you so much😀....this does look easy! And yes, I see the restaurant. It must be good if you eat there every time!!!!
  14. Thanks so much🙂.. I was actually looking at a Culinary Tour but it is quite $$$$....figured I could ride the bus and just kill an afternoon that way for much less $. Then I wondered if the hotel could recommend a tour guide. I have been googling private tour guides. I was trying to find one that would pick me up at the hotel and drop me back but most do not do that. I just want it to be "easy peasy".....I keep going back to the bus.
  15. Happy Sunday girls, Cynthia, have a question for you about Athens and I searched the Greece forum too but figured you would know this🙂......I was trying to find a private tour guide for the day I arrive for a 1/2 day tour. Then I thought about just taking a Hop On/Hop Off bus instead. I am staying at the Grand Bretagne Hotel. Do you know the area where the hotel is located and would the bus be nearby? My flight arrives at 10:30 and by the time I get my bags and get to the hotel? I am guessing around noon. (The cruise line is providing transportation). Anyway, just wanted your thoughts about an afternoon there. Yes, I have been to Athens before. Just sort of up in the air about things for arrival day. Thanks🙂
  16. Right now the whole country is having abnormal temps......Southern California? Yes, they had a terrible snow storm this week........😮 this is not normal and for those who say Climate change is not real? I just shake my head........
  17. Hi Davey, I think JP and Chris sailed Ponant before. I am guessing they liked it enough to take a 2nd cruise with them🙂
  18. Hi girls, did ya'll see the snow in Southern California? I hope Sharon and family are all ok! Certainly not a normal occurrence for that part of the country.......It looked like a pretty big blizzard. Janet, thanks for the update on Ina's show. I did see where the new season starts a week from tomorrow. Not sure who will be her guest for that one. We are in the 80s here today........I am in a short sleeve lavender cotton v neck t and a pair of jean shorts.
  19. Hi Kat, I have seen the commercials for her show multiple times recently. Glad you are having a quiet work day🙂
  20. Welcome to River Cruising.😀 I have not been on this itinerary but I have been on 2 river cruises (and probably 70 ocean cruises). Anyway, a river cruise is NOTHING like an ocean cruise so just go with an open mind. This is much smaller and you normally dock right there in town and walk off the riverboat and taaa daaa.......you are there😀 during the day, you will be given options for your tours and will most likely be off the riverboat for the entire day. It is quite casual, there are no shows or casinos on board. Sometimes they may have a musician in the evening (pianist, guitar), something like that. Hopefully someone who has sailed your itinerary will chime in........actually, I am wanting to do this one too but for later in the summer. My first river cruise was with AMA....excellent choice!😀 I hope you have a wonderful time!
