First impressions of our first Oceania cruise
Charles4515 replied to DCGuy64's topic in Oceania Cruises
That is the only negative in my opinion of Oceania. A good number of passengers couldn’t get off the ship at the ports because of mobility impairment. The food and service were great. Loved the Terrace Cafe. I like the itineraries that smaller ships can do. The alcohol prices don’t bother me because I don’t drink much. The drinks that are important to me, specialty coffees are included. And the iced tea is delicious. I would like to try some other smaller ship cruise lines to compare. Viking maybe. Virgin might be too out there but maybe. NCL I never had a great cruise on. I could do Celebrity, HAL and Princess in the future but I will lean towards non mega ships. -
Is conch safe to eat a 2023 answer

We had some at a shack on the pier in Grand Turk. They were bringing it up from the ocean off the pier and frying it right away. Delicious. -
They charge double minus the port charges and taxes for one person. It comes out to more than 75%. Most tour providers and resorts charge a 50% supplement to single travelers. Doing a family reunion at a resort that includes all meals and snacks. Paying a little less than a 50% supplement. Paying about 30% more than couples.

But the cruise ship cabin includes meals and service. When I go to all inclusive resorts or on group tours as a solo they have not charged me double. A cruise fare is not the equivalent of a hotel room.

St.George"s is pretty compact. I use the pocket map issued by the Bermuda Tourism to guide me when I walk around there.. Here is a PDF link.to the map. https://www.gotobermuda.com/sites/default/files/2023-04/bermuda-hr-map_web_2-compressed.pdf You can pick up the actual map in Bermuda at one of the Visitor Information Centers. Dockyard, St,George or Hamilton. You can order the free map and brochures to be mailed to you. I think you would get them fast as they have been maiking them from New York. https://www.gotobermuda.com/guide-order As far as the Caves and Aquarium they are not walking distance from St. George. You can take a taxi or bus from there.

Bell bottoms are back in fashion this year. Pajama pants were in fashion a few years ago. On a cruise sometime around 1998 two teens came to dinner in bathrobes were turned away. The Maitre'd di not think they were funny. Yet on a cruise in the last ten years (not on Celebrity) there was a bathrobe night.

Yes, the Hidden Gems tour is allowed to swim in the caves.

It was easy to post and read when Cruise Critic had their mobile app. That was basically downloading and uploading packets. I don’t even bother with the mobile browser or even a browser on a computer. Cruise Critic is too frustrating to bother with using a web browser with the current state of onboard internet. That social network though with its app seems to work good enough……

That he posted will get attention. Will X make corrections? Time will tell. X management must be aware of the slow internet they are providing and has not yet done infrastructure improvement onboard. They don’t need a YouTuber to tell them. The YouTuber is just getting clicks for his personal benefit. Not ours. Better satellite coverage was easy, just a bunch of inexpensive antennas that are easy and fast to put up. The onboard improvements if they decide to do them, that is a business decision, new routers and access points can’t be done as fast as putting up those Starlink antennas on the outside of the ship. Some might have to wait for dry docks. That Carnival ship with the blazing speeds…..that shows what is possible with the right infrastructure.

In Hamilton I like Flanagan’s Irish Pub. The Hog Penny Pub is also good. In St George there is The White Horse Pub and also The Wharf. At the Dockyard there is the Frog and Onion. There is The Swizzle Inn which is at Bailey”s Crossroads and is a bucket list pub in Bermuda. If you want a taxi for 4-5 hours or more that would be a taxi tour (3 hour minimum) and there would be a set rate of $50 an hour for the taxi for 1-4 passengers and $70 an hour for 5-7 passengers. Your taxi driver likely would have recommendations…

He could be wearing no show socks. With boat shoes or loafers that would be “chic” whether he had no socks or no show socks. That look is called preppy style.

It is confusing but what I found out is you can swim in the lagoon (blue hole). You can’t swim in the caves (grotto)

They might feel the same way. It is not just about your use..,

The old servers and routers may not be capable of supporting higher speeds. Just connecting is probably not enough. When I upgraded to Gigabit fiber internet here at home I didn’t get much a speed increase until I upgraded my router to a Gigabit router. And the WiFi 6 on the new router made a big difference too.
