  1. As I said, no-one on here will know what will happen as Lyttelton has not been used by large cruise ships for many years and NZ has yet to re-open to cruising.
  2. You don't pre-purchase ferry tickets - you will need to obtain an Opal card to use for public transport. Opal Card
  3. The Port of Lyttelton has not long re-opened to cruise ships after the Christchurch earthquake of 2011 caused damage. A new cruise ship facility was built. As no large cruise ships have yet visited Lyttelton because of the Covid ban of cruising in NZ, no-one knows what will happen as far as transport from the port into Christchurch. Perhaps contact Celebrity with your query.
  4. Final Score - Swans 17.16. 118 d Crows 12.13.85
  5. Sorry ML I owe you an email. We fly to Cairns on Monday. We'll be back in Melbourne on the 4th Aug so I'll reply then. Have a fantastic time at the lake.
  6. Very yummy Julie! Mum would sometimes make chocolate ones too.
  7. My Mum used to make pink lamingtons or jelly cakes as we called them. She quite often made them as patty/cup cakes and cut a small round off the top and put cream in it and then the round was put back on top of the cream.
  8. We were quite nervous about catching Covid, as we both have other medical conditions so we were relieved that our bouts were quite minor compared to some friends and their families. But we don't want to catch it again! Look after yourself.
  9. She'll be in Cairns while we are there too from next Monday.. Looking forward to seeing her. Dora will be also in for a overnighter in between the two visits from Coral.
  10. I think you may find that the cost of a rental to fit 4 plus luggage and the cost of fuel could be a lot more than flights for 4.
  11. Sorry you have Covid and that it has hit you hard. Take care of yourself. I think for some if not many people it has been like having a cold. It was for my husband and I and members of our family. But we were lucky, I believe not to have severe symptoms. The worse for me was the fatigue I felt a week or so later when symptoms had gone. I am still feeling those affects at times. Thanks for the article, it is what the experts have been saying.
  12. You probably need advice from those who know the areas better than I do. These links give some good suggestions. Brisbane to Sydney Road Trip Brisbane to Sydney Road Trip More Hints for Roadtrip 10 Best Places to Visit on Roadtrip I would suggest you have a read of these articles and from your own interests work out your itinerary.
  13. First of all, are you happy to drive on the opposite side of the road to which you are used to? It is a long drive to Sydney from Brisbane, even taking a few days to do it. You will certainly see more of the Australian countryside by driving and there are some beautiful towns to stop at on the way. Food luck with whatever you decide to do. One thing, fuel is very expensive here at the moment and I think expected to stay that way for some time, if not even higher.
  14. How many extra days do you want to spend after your cruise before you fly home? And what are your interests? There is plenty to do around Brisbane and its surrounds. If you are interested, a day trip to Australia Zoo is worthwhile, or a trip into the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast hinterlands even.
  15. When we had Covid in May, we were instructed to take paracetamol, take our temperature regularly and use the oximeter (provided by our local health authority) at least daily. I also used my ventolin inhaler at night and really didn't need to use it at other times. I also used throat lozenges for the first couple of days of symptoms as I had a sore throat. We are off to Cairns Monday week and I have put a Covid kit together too.
  16. We usually stay at Meriton Campbell Street, close to the Capitol Theatre, China Town and Central Station. It is also right beside George Street for the light rail down to Circular Quay. $225 per night during the week, another $75-100 for Saturday night.
  17. At the aged care facility my mother was in until her death recently, all visitors aged over twelve have to have up to date vaccinations, have a negative RAT before entering the building and wear a mask at all times. I just checked their website and all restrictions are still in place. Visitors have to pre book each visit.
  18. Official numbers are showing NSW has many more cases than Victoria and the same with the flu Les. What restrictions does NSW have that Victoria doesn't? Having a quick look, it appears they are the same in each state.
  19. Glad you received a prompt reply from the Dunedin Railway. We did a private tour for the Taieri Gorge train last time we were in Dunedin/Port Chalmers and it was much cheaper than the ship's tour. The main difference was that the ship tour was picked up at the ship and the private tour was picked up by coach and taken to Dunedin railway station. I think lunch was also included on the ship tour.
  20. There is certainly much to see in Sydney - when visiting we love to catch the ferry to Manly, buy fish and chips for lunch or dinner (depends on when we are there) and wander to the beach, just a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal, and sit and eat them. Or if fish and chips are not your thing, there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs to eat at. The beach is wonderful to walk along and there is also the Sydney Harbour National Park where there are plenty of walking tracks and also the former North Head Quarantine Station.
  21. What are you suggesting Marion? All CC posters have to start somewhere.
  22. I would suggest you contact Dunedin Railways and check with them - info@dunedinrailways.co.nz Until November there are scheduled trips only once a month on Sundays and only part way up the Gorge to Hindon.
  23. Hope your back pain doesn't last too long Les. Wasn't it too cold for thongs?
