Norwegian Caribbean Diembarkation question
d9704011 replied to mavants73's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
For the OP.... don't pay too much attention to what the Flyer says. Cruise lines provide arrival times at ports to passengers so that they can make some reasonable arrangements regarding their schedules. The cruise line/captain is not going to burden you with all the operational and bureaucratic detail about pilots, line-handlers, immigration and customs clearances, etc... and leave you wondering what time you should 'actually' be planning to be able to go ashore. Of course, you'll have to wait until you're given direction(s) on getting off the ship; you can't just head towards the gangway until everything is ready. Don't worry about that though, crew members will politely tell you to get lost and wait elsewhere until the all clear is announced. -
Norwegian Caribbean Diembarkation question
d9704011 replied to mavants73's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
Normally, when you're provided with an arrival time at a port of call that means the approximmate time that you'll be able to disembark. The ship is likely to arrive well before the 'arrival time' in order to tie up, get the gangway(s) in place and complete the necessary clearances. So, an 8 am-ish arrival time will mean an 8 am-ish time for going ashore. -
With an early morning departure, I suggest you consider staying at the Sheraton Brussels Airport hotel.

Hmm... I'd say you may be borderline on a cost perspective and then you'll have to factor in the less tangible aspects of making the transfer... time and hassle.
-
It's very easy. I'll warn you to check your sums though... air fare is likely to be significantly lower but make sure you add on the cost of trains, hotels, meals, local transportation and generally the hassle of making the shift before you decide on your 'best flight'.

No more discount on internet for Platinum and Elite?
d9704011 replied to chubbypiggy's topic in Princess Cruises
So, if you want to order a package for two people (two devices) what do you do? Does each person need to access the app under their own name and purchase their own 1 Device package? I had a lovely conversation with an 'Ocean Navigator' agent yesterday about the problems I'm having with a side-to-side this coming December and she assured me that everything has been properly arranged for both cruises and I have nothing to be concerned about. She did say though, that I should check again about one month before departure. Hmmm... I don't like to be negative but I am a wee bit sceptical about the 'everything is properly arranged' statement. -
Nickle and Diming Strikes Again, Thanks to John

I'm sure you know we can't get them shipped to us whether we're willing to pay. Probably something to do with shipping these kind of devices across the border. -

Yes, that's pretty much what I'm anticipating. I have to do this on a day when I'm pretty sure my head won't blow up; I'm sort of expecting a major runaround. -
@Bruin Steve and @scottca075 I trust your opinions on this kind of thing. Although it's a year off, we'll be arriving in San Pedro (Princess) on Sunday, Jan 7 from Fort Lauderdale (a Panama Canal cruise so probably not a hoard of locals onboard). My preferred option for a AC flight from LAX to YYZ departs at 1155 and I can book this about a week from now. Setting aside the possibility of significant and pretty much unpredictable delays on the part of CBP, traffic, earthquakes and plagues of locusts do you think it would be reasonable to book the flight planning a walk-off with our luggage and using a taxi from the port (I'm not too concerned about saving a few bucks on Uber... I just want to walk out of the terminal and get into a car to the airport)? We have TSA Pre-check.

I was green line for an Emerald Princess cruise but then we decided to book a Sky Princess cruise for the week beforehand and turn our trip into a S2S. Now I have an unholy mess on my app. Who is the 'Ocean Navigator' and how do I contact this fabulous entity? Or, do you mean call Princess and hope to get in contact with an agent with the where-with-all to work through the situation? -
Are you able to walk up and down a few flights of stairs without significant effort or a sense that one of your knees may collapse (mainly coming downstairs)?
-
Depends on the exact question you asked them but I'd say that whoever answered was wrong if it was a simple B2B scenario.

We've flown AT into FCO a number of times (Club Class) and like it. You can take a bus from FCO to Naples if you want to avoid trains and/or connections. For a July 1 departure, you better get moving on making your flight arrangements. I see AT Club Class for the direct YYZ-FCO is booking up quickly. https://www.fiumicinoexpress.com/?lang=en

I thought I'd resurrect this thread because we've decided to take a Princess S2S in December, 2023. First cruise is on Sky Princess, followed by Emerald Princess. I have seen some good advice on here and am wondering whether anybody has done a S2S recently and what their 'transfer' experience was like. We don't really mind walking with our luggage between the two ships as long as they're not located at the far ends of the piers although getting a shuttle lift of some description would certainly be a more attractive option. A taxi would be OK too, but I would like to know whether there may be other options.

Which Easter week will have the most kids?
d9704011 replied to mafig's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Well, this is something I've never much thought about. In Ontario, kids are off school in March (March Break). At Easter, they'd only be off on Good Friday and Easter Monday; this is not a typical time for planning family vacations. -
Although it's a little early, you may want to compartmentalize the website experience and the actual cruise experience. Until you get onboard the ship, think of all the clicking and searching as a game.... it's easier when you look at it all as a challenge with an eventual cruise reward!
