Rare Woobstr112G Posted November 20, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2011 Wanted to get others opinions on something. When the new Royal is launched in May of 2013 do you think it will cruise Europe and do a T/A in the fall or will it head west right after launching. lafngas Posted November 20, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I was on the Star in mid-late October and the future cruise consultant had no clue as to where she will be cruising. He estimated the release date to book her will be late February-March 2012. I am also eager to see where she will be cruising as my daughter graduates from college in early May, 2013 and I would love to use my other FCC to book a graduation cruise for her! Cruise Junky Posted November 20, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I'd put money on the Med then winter in the Carribean
Rare Coral Posted November 20, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I'd put money on the Med then winter in the Carribean I agree. I think she will do the Med and then alternate between Eastern and Western Caribbean out of FLL in the winter.

pris993 Posted November 20, 2011 #8 Share Posted November 20, 2011 We are waiting too for news. Would love to do a TA in the fall or the following spring. We like to have a ship in service at least 3-6 months - so the staff and crew work out the problems. We were on the first cruise on the Grand in l998 out of Istanbul, would never do that again. Much better to wait. They were still laying carpet when we boarded and service and food was mixed. Did a TA on the Ruby about 6 months into service and it was wonderful. Northender Posted November 20, 2011 #9 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I agree. I think she will do the Med and then alternate between Eastern and Western Caribbean out of FLL in the winter. I hope this is what happens. Maybe Princess could come up with some nice 10dayers for the Royal with newer ports.:)
paul929207 Posted November 20, 2011 #10 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I would also expect Europe (probably the Med) for the first summer then a TA and the Carib for the winter.
RickEk Posted November 20, 2011 #11 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I'd put money on the Med then winter in the Carribean I'd bet money on this too... which, of course, then frees up a ship (probably Caribbean Princess) to summer in the Caribbean in 2013.:)
Pam in CA Posted November 20, 2011 #12 Share Posted November 20, 2011 I agree. I think she will do the Med and then alternate between Eastern and Western Caribbean out of FLL in the winter. I agree. The ship is being built in Europe so it makes sense that her first sailings would be there.

Rare Coral Posted November 20, 2011 #15 Share Posted November 20, 2011 Would also like to see her doing some 10 dayers. I don't think this will happen until the 2nd year or until the 2nd sister comes out (at the earliest). First year, I bet it will be doing 7 night cruises out of FLL. generichandle Posted November 21, 2011 #23 Share Posted November 21, 2011 I thought they were gonna use Royal to open up all those inaccessible ports in Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean. Ok, just kidding, but I do wish. Don't know why Princess completely avoids that part of the Planet!? Do you? Doug

The Ocean does an itinerary between Singapore and Capetown and continuing up the west coast of Africa.

That makes sense. I did see an initial design view on the Princess website and it looked intereting enough for me that I would book with just that information.
