Does Princess have a bean bag toss for an activity?

When we were on Carnival my Dad enjoyed the bean bag toss activity. He asked if Princess has one and I haven't seen it listed in any reports. I've seen that they have various trivia games which he also likes. Should we look for a bean bag toss in the Patters?

It depends on the CD. Some CDs are more creative than others although I've never seen a bean bag toss listed in the Patter.

Depending on the cruise and ship there is usually team trivia twice a day, and also some evening trivia type games. Count on Trivia. Check the Princess Patter once on board.

 

There may also be activities like the egg drop challenge, boat building, goofy golf, golf chipping into the pool, 60 second challenge, pool games, and others. I have never seen bean bags. Cruise Directors use creativity to run these events and except for trivia they are not standard on every voyages.

Thanks. The bean bag game was on Carnival. It was similar to a game some people call corn hole. You toss bean bags into a board on the floor with holes on it and try to get them in the holes. He was much better at it than I was. He's good at horseshoes so his aim is better.

Never have seen a bean bag toss on Princess but Princess does have quite a bit of trivia.

On our last Princess cruise in January there was Horse Racing which he might enjoy.

They have small wooden horses.

 

About six are placed on a "track" with squares. A die is rolled for each horse to determine how many squares it goes. First across the finish line wins.

 

The casino folk take real cash bets on the outcome.

On two cruises this year on the Grand, they had this toss - I believe they called it something else. The game also varied - once with two teams, once with only 6 -12 players. It seemed it depends on who is running the activity. It was held at the Wheelhouse Bar once and in the Piazza a couple of times and was listed in the Patter.

Sad news of it's existence on Princess. If they start Lawn Darts, I may have to go over to Celebrity.:eek:

On our Ruby 4 and 5 day cruises in March they had ring toss in the piazza on a couple of afternoons. I hate to say it, but it upset me because it reminded me of the physical therapy my father had after his stroke. I can't imagine why it was a cruise ship activity outside of the kids' program.

I've seen the horserace listed on many Carnival cruises (the only time I participated was on my first cruise). I think I've only seen it mentioned once in the Patter for one cruise. Doesn't interest me. I do enjoy trivia matches and enjoyed the hula and lei making classes on my Hawaiian cruises on Princess.

Believe it or not, bean bag toss or corn hole toss has become the rage in my area @ the local bars. Right along with darts and billiards.

 

I myself am not that good @ the bean bag toss but I would like it if there was a dart board on the ship for entertainment. Heck there were ping pong tables on the Golden and DH & I had fun with that too!

 

Nothing wrong with good old fashiion fun! :D

Feb. 18, 2014 Grand to Hawaii I saw Bean Bag Toss twice in the Piazza held around 4 pm, before dinner. Standing room only at this venue.

He might also be good at the champagne ring toss. I've seen that on nearly every Princess cruise.

Champagne ring toss is fun--but they did not have it on our short Ruby Princess cruises in December or last month. They did have the 60-second game and the golf chipping into the pools.

I was surprised to see the horse race game in the piazza on a recent Crown cruise.

It reminded me of the activity at the nursing home where my mother was a resident for a short time.

No matter,my DH and I can keep ourselves occupied on any cruise.

Walking on the promenade.playing cards,socializing,and just relaxing can fill our days-especially sea days.

I think there are shuffle board courts in the Princess ships.

Maybe that would be a replacement activity for the bean bag toss-plus you can get some fresh sea air while playing the game.

Last month on the Star, they had the bean bag toss as part of the St. Patrick's Day Celebration Party in the Explorers Lounge. But that's the only time I've seen it on a Princess ship.

We've never been on Princess so I don't know their games. The reason I asked about the bean bag toss was that he specifically asked if they would have that on Princess. I told him that if they did, the people on Cruise critic would know.

 

I try to humor him and play games that he likes. He's in his late 70's and enjoys games more than lying out in the sun. While he's still here and is able to go on a cruise, if he asks to do some activities on the ship, I'll join him. He's played the cornhole bean bag toss at various picnics and on Carnival and had fun. For those of you who don't like certain games, you don't have to play them.

 

Thanks for the shuffleboard recommendation, but I'm not sure how good his balance would be it. We'll see what the horse race game is like but I really don't like gambling so that may turn be off on it. He would like the pool golf chipping. I don't know what the 60 second game is. I'm sure we'll check out some of the trivia.

It's a fun game that involves some skill as does ping pong, shuffleboard, putt putt golf, all of which are available on Princess. I say live and let live, not necessary to castigate someone for a simple question.

Can't remember which ship I was on...but there was a bean bag toss near one of the pools (maybe as part of the "silly" pool games?).

It may have been on the CB, not sure.

I never thought I would do this, I will admit. We were on a cruise with many sea days and a friend convinced me. We had a great time. Several people said they enjoy this game at back yard bbq's at home and were pretty competitive. I was on the winning team - that may be why I thought it was fun ;-)

It was also fun to meet new people. Maybe try it before you condemn it?

I own a set. It's played in the driveway during get togethers. The trend appears to be bringing everyday out to sea on vacation. We go to get away from the every day. Some will say then stay on my balcony. I will have to remember my fishing pole. Does any cruise line have bowling lanes?
