Hoosier-Cruiser Posted July 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2014 Our family just got off the CB on June 21st. It was the kids' first cruise and they enjoyed it so much that they wanted to do it again next year instead of any other vacation. We booked the CB again for a 5-day Caribbean Getaway to Jamaica and Grand Cayman. It's a little shorter than I would have liked, but it worked well with their Spring Break. Is it March yet? I found Princess to be dangerous in this way. It took my wife forever to talk me into a cruise (10 day RT SF / Alaska) as I knew I would hate everything about it. Oops. The Evil Princess Empire (sickly green to denote the oozing evil...) totally hooked me and it has cost me a bunch of money and vacation time to do two more cruises since with two more already booked (and hoping to squeeze another one in between the two I have booked.) Princess is insidious. They gave us a wonderful cruise, excellent service, and an overall fantastic trip and, in that way, sucked us into giving them lots of time and money in the future. That seems to be what is happening to you as well. Beware!!!

gatorguy56 Posted July 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 4, 2014 I think they inject something into the food and it stays in your system and makes you crave cruising. I think we'll be cruising the waters of Alaska every year until we're too decrepit.
cdngrl Posted July 4, 2014 #10 Share Posted July 4, 2014 I have the same affliction: I speak of time in relation to cruising. as in I have 3 months to my next cruise, or my bff's birthday is after my next cruise, thanksgiving is right before my next cruise....you get the idea. ;)
Thrak Posted July 4, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 4, 2014 One of these days after I am retired my wife really wants us to drive to Alaska. We bought a wonderful little teardrop trailer for camping and she is very hopeful of making the (very long!) trip camping here and there (and stopping in hotels from time to time as well!!!) to get a totally different experience. Cruising to AK was great. When we go again and include a land tour component it will be great. Driving and camping will be a totally different experience but I'm guessing it will also be great. Married 42 years and we can still do long car trips and camping trips and have a great time with each other. I find there are a lot of people who just can't understand that but it works for us! I know the feeling....DW and I came back from a Panama cruise, and saw the Royal Princess....after finding out she was doing the same itinerary we had done 6 years ago we booked her right away. Thrak....again...we seem to be on the same page. If ever we are on the same cruise I'm buying you a round (whether it be alcoholic or just coffee or soda). DW talked me into my first cruise (which I didn't think I'd like), and we've been sailing forward ever since! RE: vacation time, I had to become an entrepreneur just to keep up with DW vacation time. Whether it be a 5 day cruise, 7 day cruise or longer....I love them! Counting down the days! Edited July 4, 2014 by Fuzzyape

FritzG Posted July 4, 2014 #17 Share Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) We must be doing something wrong. We keep cruising to come back newer, but we keep getting older every year! We'd better book more cruises and keep trying to come back newer! Edited July 4, 2014 by FritzG
Hoosier-Cruiser Posted July 4, 2014 Author #18 Share Posted July 4, 2014 We fell in love with Princess (Ruby Princess) our first Princess cruise as well. How did you like the CB? Our next cruise is on the CB in February. Any comments about the ship will be appreciated. Our first cruise was on the Ruby as well (3rd sailing after commissioning). The CB is very similar. She is older and has the Skywalkers that is perched over the aft pool and some of the venues (Sabatini's, Crown Grill, Wheelhouse Bar, Grand Casino) are in different locations, but otherwise she is very similar. If you loved the Ruby, you will love the Caribbean.

I "dragged" him on our first cruise, now he's ready to go every single day. As for how much money we've spent...DH has kept all of our cruise cards, and some years ago started putting them on binder rings. The binder rings had to get bigger and bigger and now we each have one of the largest ones he could buy. He keeps them in a kitchen drawer, and whenever I complain about my 25 year old stove and dishwasher, and bemoan the lack of granite in my kitchen, he opens the drawer and holds them up. He doesn't need to say a word; just that simple act shuts me down.
