cubfan63 Posted July 26, 2014 #77 Share Posted July 26, 2014 (edited) I will second that. I don't like parting with my few bucks before I have to. Keep the system as it currently is because it works. I also don't want to part with my money before I have to. Frankly, I don't know why people want to pay with debit cards and have your money gone right away. I use my credit card and hold my money a little longer. The little extra pennies of accrual add up (eventually) to another cruise. I always pay my bill at the end of the month in full. RocketMan275 Posted July 26, 2014 #80 Share Posted July 26, 2014 Well, I don't care whether something is prepaid or not. I'll pay the bill when it is presented for payment. One thing I would like to see is the ability to reserve dinning prior to boarding like RCI allows. On RCI, you can book specialty restaurants on specific dates and at specific times. If you have anytime dinning, you can reserve different dinning times for different dates as well. I also like their new concept where one dinning room is formal every night for you folks that like such and all the other dinning rooms are casual every night for us folks that do not. baggal Posted July 26, 2014 #81 Share Posted July 26, 2014 On our last cruise which was very port intensive, it was a huge benefit to be able to book excursions and then change and/or cancel them without prepaying. For me, its quite a disadvantage to have to pay in advance and then wait for the refund.
aikensbest Posted July 26, 2014 #82 Share Posted July 26, 2014 We took a cruise in the spring on Celebrity and quickly came back home to Princess. Paying my tips up front because I eat in Anytime, pre paying for all trips via the cruise line is just not in the cards for me. I do not understand why people put up with this. I don't pay for my car, my groceries, my gas, etc. in advance, why should I "loan" my savings to a cruise line?
AE_Collector Posted July 26, 2014 #83 Share Posted July 26, 2014 (edited) So I think we can all agree....we are all different! Some of us like to prepay for some things, some would like to prepay for virtually everything and others don't want to prepay for anything. Everyone has valid reasons and basically we can all accomplish our payment preference the way things are right now on Princess. So until any changes are announced (I don't think any indication was provided as to where the idea that changes are coming got started) I won't lose any sleep over it. Actually, I won't lose any sleep over it even if there are changes though we do like the way Princess handles Shorex right now and we do a Princess Shorex in almost every port. Hope OP is wrong  If the changes are just to allow pre-payment via Internet for items that must now be done on the phone or via FAX, then that is a nice change which makes it easier for passengers to do what they already were doing. Buddy604 Posted July 26, 2014 #93 Share Posted July 26, 2014 Being one of those folks who often carries a balance on my CC (I know, I know), what I like to do before a cruise is put a whack of cash down on my CC before I leave. Not only do I save the interest on my CC during the cruise, but I earn points, and if I need cash I just use the casino to charge it to my folio. That said, some folks certainly do like to prepay for their own reasons or comfort and it's nice the Princess is enhancing their system to make it easier. From their perspective it frees up live representative time, and from a passenger/TA perspective it makes the whole process faster and simpler. worldspan Posted July 26, 2014 #94 Share Posted July 26, 2014 I don't view pre- booking restaurants on line as nice thing. Cruises to us are about doing what you want when you are there, not pre-scheduleing every detail before you board. Fact is for some of us pre-booking specialty restaurants like Crown Grill is very important. Having to be one of the first on the ship and enduring the mob scene in the process just to be able to be able to pre-book, well I've had enough of that game. Already cancelled my Fall Regal cruise specifically for that reason. I know of no other cruise line where you can't book specialty restaurants other than Princess. Correct me if I am wrong. SmokeOnTheWater71 Posted July 26, 2014 #96 Share Posted July 26, 2014 Did any body pay for their cruise the day before NO how many of you paid for your flight the day before more than likely no body how many of you pre pay when you go out to a movie at home, most of you pre pay your taxes every two weeks to bad you can't wait till April and write a 15000.00 dollar check and make money on your tax money I'am just saying their are a lot of things we pre pay for it's just an offer they aren't making you do it cool your jets people. We always pre pay that way our budget is done no worry. Direwolves Posted July 26, 2014 #97 Share Posted July 26, 2014 I have had excursions cancelled on me, so why pre-pay. Yes it might turn into an OBC but why take that risk. I'll take the bill at the end. Just like after a good meal.
Rare Caroldoll Posted July 26, 2014 #98 Share Posted July 26, 2014 is REALLY good. We generally cruise Oceania and we have to pay EVERYTHING IN ADVANCE...then when you get on board and they cancel an excursion you prepaid you have to pay Billy H--- to get the money back. Princess is good in that if you can book the excursions and pay at the end of the cruise, that is ALL GOOD.
