Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk We are sailing the Reflection in May in Aqua Class. I looked at the menu and noticed they do not have French Onion Soup in Blu. We are thinking in eating in the Main Dining Room at least once to have the soup. Edited March 31, 2015 by bvocruise
Maggiehar Posted March 31, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted March 31, 2015 Are there places to eat during the day like Princess has the pizza and grill. It s ounds like you have to pay for some things. Am I reading that right?
Philomath Posted March 31, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 31, 2015 Cheeseburgers at Mast Grill! Escargot in the MDR! Homemade ice cream in the buffet! I seriously could go on and on and will if it's helpful. I've never dined at a for-fee restaurant (gasp) other than a $5 flatbread at Gastrobar so don't worry ;-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

rcprncss Posted March 31, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 31, 2015 Are there places to eat during the day like Princess has the pizza and grill. It sounds like you have to pay for some things. Am I reading that right? There is a grill by the pool. Also, at the Aqua Spa Cafe on the pool deck. We go there often after hitting the gym. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. They may close around 2:30, i think. There is always pizza available in the buffet area.
Tulip Hill Posted March 31, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 31, 2015 We are sailing the Reflection in May in Aqua Class. I looked at the menu and noticed they do not have French Onion Soup in Blu. We are thinking in eating in the Main Dining Room at least once to have the soup. Ask your waiter in Blu and you will have wonderful onion soup, shrimp cocktail, escargot and all kinds of goodies. Not a problem at all. Cheers!
Rare ladylemondrop Posted March 31, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 31, 2015 Which ship are you sailing on? I think there is so much to love about Celebrity, and there are many fantastic places to eat, my favourites are the lawn club grill where you can make your own flat bread pizzas, and enjoy great steaks, kebabs etc, (silhouette and reflection only at the moment) Also, Tuscan, which is stylish italian style dining, and for high romance, Murano, french cuisine at its best. I also love those burgers by the pool!!! I love the lack of announcements, the upscale atmosphere, the staff, the pools, I could go on.... Have a wonderful cruise! I also love those burgers by the pool!!! As mentioned above, our UK friend lists lots of excellent ideas for sailing with Celebrity. Others have share many good ideas. BUT, yes, tell us more on which ship you will be using. As detailed below with lots of pictures, I have pull together many Solstice pictures and details. We have done two sailings on this classy ship. Check out the below link and its ideas, pictures, etc. Happy on that thread to answer any added, more specific questions. Also tell us more for where you are planning to sail, ports you will visit, when you are doing your "adventure", etc. Also, share more on your interests, where you are from, etc. With that added background from you, we can make much better suggestions, etc. Below are just four of my Solstice pictures to highlight a few of our "super likes", including the wonderful Solarium area that boatlover19 mentioned. THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio Did a “Solstice: Visuals, Highlights Shared!” summary from two different adventures on this ship with many pictures and other details on its many options. This includes our recent Australia to New Zealand sailing. Check it out, including these recent updates, at: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1803477 Now at 29,901 views for this posting. The Solarium was one of our most favorite areas. Food and drinks were nearby and it was very relaxed and sophisticated. Quieter, too, as it is an adults-only area. Two hot tubs here. Not crowded, especially in the evenings. Nice art and design with this facility. Wonderful setting for relaxing and watching the outside water/shore views, enjoying subtle inside action, etc.: On the top, back of the Solstice, here is a wider view of Corning Hot Glass show area, plus the green grass and the unique covering designs for this special area of the ship. Classy design touches and style!!: Super loved it when there were times at the pool in the afternoons on the Solstice in June 2011 when the “party band” was going at it with great tunes. This added to the fun and excitement around the pool area of our ship. Just like done by some famous California pop groups, we were hearing “fun, fun, fun” underneath the sun!!: Here is a photo highlight from our ship's production show called "Ghostlight--The Spirit of Broadway". Lots of great tunes, including many from the Four Seasons as done on Broadway with Jersey Boys. Nice lighting, staging, sets, etc.
Maggiehar Posted April 1, 2015 Author #16 Share Posted April 1, 2015 Terry, Your pictures are great. We sail on the Silhouette this Sunday to the Western Caribbean. We know Princess ships very well and have always enjoyed them. Decided to change it up a bit and try Celebrity. We are rather low key and like to rest and read the most. My husband loves a good cigar and we both love to dance. Would love any suggestions you or anyone else have to offer. Thanks, Margaret
DrivesLikeMario Posted April 1, 2015 #17 Share Posted April 1, 2015 One of my favorite things was the 3-piece trio in the atrium (cello, violin, viola). They were incredible. I just closed my eyes and floated away in their beautiful music. Felt like I was the only one around. The acoustics there were amazing.
neverbeenhere Posted April 1, 2015 #18 Share Posted April 1, 2015 When this question is asked... Answer is Beef Wellington. (As I don't make it at home). Also, we like the many quiet spaces around the ships and the cheerfulness of the crew and visibility of the officers.
ptrpanpens Posted April 1, 2015 #19 Share Posted April 1, 2015 No smoking whatsoever anywhere inside the ship. Only limited smoking elsewhere! So nice to walk by the casino and not get asphyxiated:D.
Rare Cruise Junky Posted April 1, 2015 #20 Share Posted April 1, 2015 We loved our cruise on Solstice after 11 on Princess. Please report back after your cruise. I'd love to hear what you think. Things we loved over Princess: No smoking in the casino Free adult Solarium lawn & sunset bar Martini and Molecular bar The bathrooms are far superior We found the specialty restaurants better but they are more expensive A much more modern decor. TeaBag Posted April 1, 2015 #22 Share Posted April 1, 2015 Maggiehar, the Silhouette is our favorite ship. Don't miss the Lawn Club Grill. Yes, it is extra ($50pp, If I remember) but you may get a 50% off coupon, for the first night, in your room since you are in AQ. Other times you might be able to get a discount if they are not well booked. As others have said, the ice cream, pizza, eggs Benedict, waffles, hamburgers and fries at the pool grill, almond croissants at Cafe al Baccio (coffee is extra but worth it. I think you will like the change. Enjoy your cruise.

Am I reading that right? Maggiehar - Welcome to Celebrity... while I am torn between whether I like M-Class or S-Class ships better, I can tell you that you will really enjoy your first cruise on Silhouette. You have received a lot of different thoughts and likes by other cruisers and many of those are on my "favorites" list as well. In no particular order, here is what I like best about Celebrity: complimentary glass of champagne at embarkation. updated menu at Bistro on Five ($7 pp cover charge). burgers & fries at the mast grill (no charge). Cafe al Bacio. Sweet treats (no charge) and many coffee drinks (non-alcohol) are covered by the Classic Beverage Package. From the Oceanview Cafe (no charge): homemade ice cream, pizza, sushi, design your own asian inspired stirfry or italian pasta dish, daily indian specialties, waffle station, freshly prepared eggs benedict. Also, an outdoor seating area at the aft of the ship. From the MDR (no charge): french onion soup, escargot, shrimp cocktail, caesar salad. The solarium (adults only 16y/o and up). Great for reading/relaxing. Aqua Spa Cafe (no charge for most items). Open for breakfast and lunch. Complimentary shoe shine service (Concierge, Aqua, Suite class staterooms). Verandahs on Celebrity are generally much larger than on Princess. However, there are many open deck spaces around the ship to escape the crowds for a peaceful retreat. Blu restaurant (For Aqua Class staterooms). Enjoy your first Celebrity cruise!

Thanks, Margaret Appreciate these kind comments from Margaret and the added info for your upcoming cruise. Great that you will be on one of the Solstice-class ships. Good luck on your upcoming "adventure" starting on Saturday. For a fairly large ship (2,850 passengers), these S-class ships do not seem too massive and/or crowded. We were impressed, also, with how they have the graphics on the ship to make finding your away around to be very helpful. THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio Enjoyed a 14-day, Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Sydney to Auckland adventure, getting a big sampling for the wonders of "down under” before and after this cruise.
