Ugh, it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Nooooooooooo, Danny Bonaduce was Danny Partridge.

Yes, that's it!

A few years ago, when we sailed fOTS; we sailed with the Danny Partridge fan club {cannot remember the guy's real name!}. I think at the time he was on a reality TV show and had gained some popularity. I think he was also a radio DJ and had a good following

They were also anticipating a LARGE group. We saw Danny around the ship a few times taking photo ops with fans; but it had ZERO impact on the enjoyment of our cruise.

Twenty years ago (?) the teenage girls would have been going crazy and there would have been a lot of hysteria to control. If I'm not mistaken, he's gay and married now .... so I'm guessing the teenage girl fan base will be well under control.

Enjoy your cruise and don't worry about it!

LOL - my reply was a bit confusing. The bolded paragraph was in reference to Lance Bass not Danny Bonaduce.

I just found out about a month ago that my upcoming September cruise on Oasis has some sort of regional 80s radio station group. Being in my 20s, I'd much rather have the Lance Bass group. Wanna switch? ;p

Yes, it's a radio station cruise. Found these pics on line from their last "radio station cruise" doesnt look like too threatening of a group. LOL

I will take them over N Sync.

How do you know its a "large" group?

This is what their website says:

* Please note this is not a charter ship and we will be a large group onboard. NOTE: If you do not buy into this group, and you do not buy from (deleted) you will not be permitted into any of the Dirty Pop at Sea with Lance Bass events. All events are private and for the customers that buy into this group off of this page only, or call xxx-xxx-xxxx. No exceptions will be made. So please be sure you purchase your cruise from (deleted).

No way in hell would I go on this cruise if I had the opportunity to cancel without penalty.

We had a "large group" on our last sailing on Serenade. I heard there were something like 500 people booked as part of the "Best of the Bayou" cruise, which would be a pretty good percentage on the Serenade. I don't know if that number is accurate or not, but I certainly didn't find the group to be intrusive at all.

Sounds like you've gotten some great advice from people that have had experience with "large" groups. The rest kind of said they wouldn't do it, so they advise you to not do it.

Facts win over conjecture every time.

Just found out through my roll call that there will be a rather large group of Nsync fans on my Allure cruise next April. Its known as "Dirty Pop at Sea with Lance Bass" cruise.

Im considering switching to another cruise but then of course I would lose my deal I got through the TA I switched my booking to. I got a CP balcony and 255.00 OBC for the same price I paid for an inside cabin when I booked this cruise on Freedom a few months ago.

What can one expect on a cruise like this? Closed venues Im guessing?

I guess its better than it being a full charter and getting cancelled altogether, or is it??? :o

Your 1st & only post on your Allure roll call was 4/27/2015 & the only mention of Nsync was posted on April 13 (with a couple of quoted responses on 4/14/2015... almost 4 moths ago &... you just found out.

I'm just teasing you...hope you don't take offense.

My main concern would always be losing any of the space on the ship (as you & some others have said).

:):):):)

I organized a group on a cruise, and I cringed at what my group did. There is zero chance I would desire to go on a cruise with a large group, even one as harmless as my group. I am thinking the potential of this group being less desireable is pretty high as well.

Please share your conjectures....

I'm guessing that you must pay more to be part of those who can watch Nsync...there website for this Allure of the Seas Event where they refer several times to the term our group is Dirty Pop At Sea

Their site has the prices for different cabins.

if that's true...I also might guess that more could sign up (& pay more) which might tempt Royal Caribbean...to drop your reservation...and maybe even class it as chartered. I'm interested to see how things turn out...and wish you the best. :)

What an Outstanding Quote you have in your signature.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

How do you know if there will be a large group on your cruise

There really isn't a sure fire way to find out. The cruise line will not tell you. They claim they're protecting the privacy of the other passengers. The more cynical believe they won't tell because they're afraid of cancellation.

BTW, the Holland forum does an excellent job of finding which Holland cruises have large groups. They have a continuous thread going to keep posters informed.

One thing you can do is join your roll call. Sometimes someone will find post some information there. There is also a website:

http://themecruisefinder.com/CruiseAds/

It's difficult to search but sometimes you'll find something. Try searching on ship's name or date. Not a guarantee but the best I've found.

BTW, my Oasis cruise in November has a Star Trek group on board. Formal night should be "fascinating". I've never seen a Klingon in a tux.

On the Grandeur of the Seas Bermuda cruise we recently had we saw a Tux which was Hunters Camoflouge & he wore lace up boots... the guy had a beard & I thought maybe he from from the Duck Decoy's TV Show...He turned out to be a very nice guy...but not from the TV show. :):):):)

I wouldn't worry much about it ... ... how many people could be in this "group"? Twelve?! .... Lance ... Bass ... hellooooo ....(can you say "washed up"?!!) LOL

Just go-- this wouldn't be a big group. Who would pay to be around Lance Bass anyway ?? What does he even do now?

Joey Fatone has had a brief resurgence of popularity (2012) .

If you haven't seen SyFy's Jersey Shore Shark Attack, well, don't....[emoji41]

Sorry for the thread jack OP!

Joey's the cutest one from N'Sync tho .. Lance Bass is the funny lookin cross eyed least cute one who danced like a clumsy white boy.

I have been on a few cruises that had groups booked. JOCO Cruisers was the largest and they had 700 or so in the FOS and they did their own thing in their own reserved venues. They were a great group and really nice. Wil Wheaton put on a show in one of the bars and they invited everyone to attend, which I thought was nice since most passengers were not part of the group.

I have had experience with two large (500+) groups, one good and one bad, but regardless there will be closed venues, large group of passengers taking over lounges, bars, and other public areas.
