Booking Onboard

Traveling with my husband and adult children on an upcoming 4 day cruise. My husband and I both received emails that if we book while onboard we will receive $500 in OBC. Does this OBC have to be spent on the cruise we are on? We already have $500 each and two perks, so another 1,000 is a lot to spend on a 4 day cruise. Didn't know if there was a way to push the OBC off to the cruise we book. All the "perks" get confusing to me and it seems at the end of the day, I spend the same no matter how you slice it.

Sometimes, they have a specific promotion running onboard when you book it, but you can always ask if the OBC can be used on another sailing. The only way I have ever received the future cruise booking OBC while booking onboard is for the next cruise. But, I have also seen it offered in the manner in which describe .... I just never booked a future cruise while that offer was available. I find they are pretty willing to work with you if you find one of the better ones.

We booked on board and we were given the option to apply the OBC to the current cruise or the future cruise. We were not allowed to use OBC for the deposit. The deposit was placed on our credit card.

That has been our experience also. Deposits have always been charged to our credit card. We have also been able to apply the OBC to the future cruise.

Generally, when people book onboard to get extra OBC, they pay the deposit for their new cruise on their on board account. So the OBC is really just $$ off the new deposit, not something that you have to try to spend

Are you sure about what you posted? We have Dona a lot of on board/future cruise credits and although Celebrity was able to use the charge card that we had on file for our on board account it has always been charged directly to our CC.

Thank you. I didn't want to spend time on such a short cruise figuring out the next one or two. Does $500 seem like a decent offer?

Is it up to $500? Usually the OBC varies depending on the category booked and length of cruise. ( and whether it is a repositioning cruise)

The on board credit is always more for booking on board than if booking later.

This is also our experience. I believe the current offer on the 2018/19 itineraries is one perk plus OBC (dependent on length of cruise and cabin category) for OV & balcony, and 2 perks plus OBC for Concierge and Aqua, with suites getting all 4. I'll confirm this for definite when I'm onboard in a few days :). Obviously, repositioning cruises are a different kettle of fish ;).
