mrsfuzzmo Posted January 18, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Only older ladies. I myself am in my early 50s (I don't consider myself old) and have not worn pantyhose in over 15 years. They are not in style any longer. Bare legs/toes is the way to go. If you need the support of the panty, then go with a spanx type product. The nice thing about no hose is that on vacation, you usually have your toes done, and your legs will have a little color. If you choose to wear them.....do NOT wear them with open toed shoes/sandals.
dd likes to cruise Posted January 18, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2017 When I feel the need to cover my legs, or I have shoes that hurt too much without, I make sure I have a dress/skirt that Black tights will work with. I feel better, don't get as cold and still look stylish, and shoes don't hurt as much.
Anthomaniac Posted January 18, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2017 No pantyhose for me! Ymmv Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
pinkpanther52 Posted January 18, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Yes I do :) For me I feel more "dressed" and makes my shoes feel ore comfortable. If I wear them with sandals I wear the invisible or no toe types. It's up to you really
mousey Posted January 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2017 I haven't worn pantyhose in years and years but having said that...if you feel comfortable in them there's really no reason why you shouldn't wear them. I do, especially in winter, where black tights to keep my legs warm. But I would never wear them with any kind of open-toed shoe or bootie. Keksie Posted January 18, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 18, 2017 I have not worn hose in years and years. I never felt comfortable in them and once I figured out that my boss didn't care or notice if I wore them or not I quit wearing them. Now that I am retired I never have to even think about wearing them ever again.
slidergirl Posted January 18, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 18, 2017 I'm 62 and I haven't worn a pair of pantyhose since, well, I can't remember. I wear dresses/skirts maybe once/twice a year and then I go "naked leg."
cb at sea Posted January 18, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Nope...I don't know anyone who still wears them! Throw a bit of fake tan on your legs, if that's your worry....and if that doesn't worry you, don't even bother! I haven't worn pantyhose in.....well, AGES!!!! Maybe since the 80's! lsb48154 Posted January 18, 2017 #13 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Still wear them on occasion with dresses or skirts. When it is freezing out, bare legs just seem "wrong," and colored tights don't "work" with everything. However, if you can tolerate the chill, I have no problem with your bare legs. Be comfortable! mrsfuzzmo Posted January 18, 2017 #14 Share Posted January 18, 2017 My 16 yr old niece was completely freaked out by them when we pulled a pair out of Grandma's old dresser. She could not believe that women wore them. We made her put some on. Needless to say, we all had a good laugh at her astonishment.
awhfy Posted January 18, 2017 #15 Share Posted January 18, 2017 I use them to put chunks of Irish Spring soap in to keep the deer out of my flowers! They work great for that [emoji849] Sent from my iPad using Forums
sockmonkeygirl Posted January 19, 2017 Author #16 Share Posted January 19, 2017 I can't believe they aren't necessary on formal night! I'll buy some no show peds for in my shoes and maybe a nice tinted lotion. Thank you all for the opinions.
Rare Scrapnana Posted January 19, 2017 #17 Share Posted January 19, 2017 Another person in her 60s who has not worn them for at least 15 years (maybe more). Don't miss them, either! One good thing about them was that you no longer needed a garter belt or girdle () to keep your stockings up.
luvscruising2007 Posted January 19, 2017 #18 Share Posted January 19, 2017 I am 70 years old. I wear panty hose on formal night. As someone else said, I like to wear black tights in the winter that go well with the dress I am wearing. As I age, my legs just don't look as nice without the panty hose. But, this is just my preference.

I am an "older lady" (74 in April) and I have not worn pantyhose for at least 15 years and have no plans to do so in the future. If you do wear them, I agree with the advice to NOT wear them with open-toed shoes or sandals...very tacky, IMO.;):D
Laurie S. Posted January 19, 2017 #20 Share Posted January 19, 2017 I remembered that there is one time when I do wear pantyhose. I have a wool tartan floor length kilt that I had made in Scotland. On the rare occasion that I wear it, and it is beautiful, I have to wear hose since wool makes me itch. Kneehighs don't work.

Thank you all for the opinions. Well, if they were necessary, how would we be checked to be sure we followed that rule? ;) Would the Maitre' D do a Trump and feel us up??? ;) I totally forgot about the Irish Spring thing! I did this at my old house!!! But, I used knee-highs...
MissCakeyBun Posted February 23, 2017 #22 Share Posted February 23, 2017 This will make you all laugh ladies I'm 48 and English and wear "tights" (pantyhose) everyday as I wear skirts and dresses everyday. I feel a little naked without them to be honest 🙂
waterbug123 Posted February 24, 2017 #23 Share Posted February 24, 2017 I'm 51 and can't remember how many years it's been since I even owned a pair of pantyhose, let alone wore a pair. Bare legs with open toed shoes in warm weather and for most dressy occasions. When it's cold, and I'm wearing something dressier, I wear a skirt or dress with tights any boots. Nanabee27 Posted February 24, 2017 #24 Share Posted February 24, 2017 Haven't worn pantyhose in years, and I'm 64. No panty hose for me. Haven't worn them since I retired 6 years ago! Don't miss them, and everyone seems to be going with bare legs, especially in the Caribbean.
shipgeeks Posted February 24, 2017 #25 Share Posted February 24, 2017 I absolutely wear pantyhose on formal/gala/chic nights. Much easier to put on and take off than leg makeup/fake tan, and the panty makes for a smoother line under my dress. On other nights, unless I wear slacks, I usually wear suntan fishnets (like the dancers wear). Very comfortable. When we did a TA last April, I found it quite interesting, in all the Spanish ports, that virtually all the local women wearing skirts, especially the young ones, wore skintone pantyhose.
