cruiserke;52345336']That's a good summary. Another nice benefit is that suite guests are not charged a 5 percent fee when taking money out in the casino' date=' eg at table games or for slots. The fee is waved as a courtesy.[/quote']

I did not know that.

In suite afternoon canapés and tea have been discontinued. I can't believe they still have this on the list of perks, though I really shouldn't be surprised. Upon request your butler will bring something to your suite (although in our case it came so late in the afternoon we were no longer interested).

So you can take cash out of the casino against your OBC? Good news. I did not know that reservations were needed for any shows on Solstice class ships. So, what shows do we need reservations for, please? And thanks for all the information. Is the butler the same as the room steward or this another person to tip? I can't imagine letting someone else unpack for us! And don't need any afternoon snacks. How is the food in the buffet at dinner? We often eat in RCI's buffet for dinner as there is such variety and often sushi and/or Indian food.

While they are now serving Tea in Michael's Club, you still have the option of having it delivered to your Suite. The cart is gone but we actually better selections delivered each afternoon in our Suite even without offering.

Reservations are not needed for the showroom, but a section of the showroom is reserved for suite guests only on select production show nights. The butler is different from the cabin steward, and you may already have their grats covered in your suite perk program. Check your perks. Since your service will be exemplary in your stateroom, most suite guests will leave a little extra anyway for a job well done. As to buffet, I can't help you as I would much prefer the sitdown dinner in Luminae. Enjoy your cruise.

Just completed a cruise in a Sky Suite and you could not take OBC as cash from the casino. You could get promotional chips against OBC and should you win the winnings would be paid in cash but not the OBC (promotional chips).

Reservations are not need for the shows. The butlers are in the theater on Evening Chic nights to escort Suite Guests to seats-not sure why as most of us are perfectly capable of getting seated without an escort.

Is this new? We were on the Reflectiin about a year ago and loved having this brought to our suite and even if we were not there it was left for us.

Yes, this is new. Tea is now held in Michael's Club. Not an improvement in my view or anybody else I've talked to. Loved that down time in the cabin before dinner with a visit by the butler. Not about to get dressed and head to Michael's then.

Having in the past been a regular RC cruiser and recently cruised on Oasis (suite and D+) but in frequent years a regular Celebrity cruiser the differences you will notice the most are...

Generally a much quieter ambiance on the ship with a focus on rest and relaxation rather than fun and activities.

Luminae has more of a 'speciality restaurant' feel than Coastal Kitchen. The food is richer and the menu more varied.

Speciality restaurants better quality food and service.

If you are a buffet fan the Celebrity buffets are very good and the venue less 'manic' than on RC.

The drinks offered in Michael's Club are far more varied than the quite restricted menu in the suite lounge on RC and are all premium quality.

We find the general service level ship wide better on Celebrity.

Loyalty perks...less free alcohol on Celebrity than on RC but laundry, cocktail hours.....similar.

On the negative side you will find far less show and activity variety.

Hope you have a great cruise!

Thanks for all this great information. Hoping for a quieter experience on X. Last cruises were on Harmony and Allure. Just too many people and WAY too many children. And this was in Nov. and Feb. Apparently folks have no concern about taking their children out of school anymore! We have sailed probably 60 times on RCI and never experienced so many children. Obviously RCI's marketing to families is working!

I personally thought that the food carts were a tremendous waste of food.

That being said, tremendous amounts of food is wasted every day on cruise ships.

The switch to Michael's was begun on Infinity in October, while I was onboard. My butler, Singh, seeing that I missed going to MC, made sure we always had an afternoon snack waiting for us in the butler's pantry.

Yup, this is the SAME butler that had ALL of our laundry pressed and delivered on individual hangers... LOL

I have a WORD document that I edit before each cruise and print out to hand to my butler upon embarkation. It includes a calendar of in-suite events.

But that is just my way; your way may vary....

I would agree with everything Chemmo said.

We have primarily sailed with RC, most recently on Harmony. Also didn't care for Harmony, and we didn't have many children on our sailing. But it did seem crowded, and for us it was just too big. We did have good service in the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen.

Last year I sailed for the first time with X in a Sky Suite with the "Go Best" perks. I was sailing with my 21 year old daughter for her college spring break. It happened because the Connie 5-day itinerary worked best with her break, but I was a little concerned she might get bored. She didn't, and we really enjoyed the ship and the excellent service. It was a very relaxing cruise and to date probably one of my favorites. Felt a little bad that my husband wasn't with us, but I did book 2 more while on board for 2017. :)

They escort you to a row of prime seating that is roped off just for suite guests.

Yes, gratuities for suites are higher than in standard cabins as there is an extra amount charged to accommodate for the butler.

We were on the Eclipse last week.

Our butler brought canapés every afternoon, without our asking. However, they were too fancy for us, and not very good.

Nice little sandwiches were served in Michael's club in the afternoon, and we usually stopped in there when returning from a port.

We probably could have requested these from our butler, but we are not butler people, and did not make any requests of him.
