First Time in a Neptune Suite

We are staying in our first Neptune Suite starting Sunday and would like to have a better understanding of the perks before our stay. What information about amenities or other information did you learn before and/or after your first stay in a Neptune Suite that may not have been on the HAL website? For example I only found one of their various links where HAL mentions laundry/drying cleaning is complimentary.

If you are on a Vista, Signature or S class ship, you can have breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill -- the times are the same as the main dining room and the menu is the same as the main dining room.

You can order appetizers to have in the afternoon and/or afternoon tea -- must be ordered before Noon.

The concierges can do anything for you -- like make reservations for a specialty restaurant -- the spa -- make change for you.

We always stay either in the PS or the Neptune Suites.

qsuzi,

I'm sure there are plenty of threads (if you get lucky with tickling the search function) in which people copy the same list from the HAL website that you have already read... I thought your question was well worded and pertinent (although not pertinent to me! Neptune Suite!!!) and that people who are offended by such questions should simply skip the thread.

Priority boarding.

Enjoy!!!

We stayed in our first Neptune in March and I have to say, this perk was pretty neat. We were escorted up to the second floor to a separate waiting area before boarding, with a steward passing around cookies and lemonade/water (available downstairs as well, but not being passed butler-style).

There were maybe 40 people up there, all the in-transit folks plus the Neptune suite guests and 4 or 5 star Mariners. In-transit guests boarded first, and about 15 minutes later the Neptune suite guests boarded...we were maybe the 20th and 21st passengers on the ship.

I have never experienced a ship that empty. It was wonderful heading upstairs to find a spot for lunch and just a great relaxing way to start the vacation.

Our luggage tags were also designated in yellow "Priority", and before checking in the porters put them in a special area. Our luggage was in the room by 1:30pm, so we were able to unpack and settle in well before muster drill.

My husband is completely spoiled now...he didn't think the Neptune was worth it until he experienced it. Now, it's what he wants to book every time!

First time in the NS we got a lovely letter detailing all our perks in our cabin, which was very sweet. We most enjoyed the free laundry perk (so heavenly to come home with no laundry and to just unpack). Do try to have breakfast at the Pinnacle one morning to see if you like it. We appreciated the relaxed atmosphere, even though the food isn't different.

You might also have a suite party or VIP party or luncheon invitation. It depends on the ship.

You shouldn't need to go to the front desk for anything. The concierge will handle just about anything including problem resolution. If you ask, the future cruise agent will meet you in the (very quiet) lounge to book your next cruise. I had one off the wall request and the concierge made a few phone calls and made it happen. He said we hate to say "no" That's quit a perk for me.

We were on Koningsdam a few weeks ago and upgraded to a Neptune Suite. It was our first HAL cruise and was spectacular! Most of the perks have already been mentioned. We sailed out of Amsterdam. We arrived at the port at about 11:15 and were greeted by a hostess who escorted us to check in, then escorted us to a Suite waiting area. There was coffee, tea, juices, water and pastries to have while we were waiting. I grabbed a coffee an pastry and before I finished they came and told us we could board. We were escorted on board then sent to our suite. We were in our suite by about 11:30 or shortly after! The suite was spectacular! Had a welcome aboard bottle of Champagne, and Nespresso Coffee maker. They were also hosting a "Welcome aboard" in the Neptune Suite (don't remember the hours) where we got complimentary champagne and wine so we saved our bottle for another day. There are very nice snacks all day long in the Neptune Lounge. A very nice place to grab something after a shore day or anytime. It included breakfast items early, then small sandwiches, cheese and meats, desserts all day long.

The Concierge informed us that anyone who wished could go to Culinary Arts for Dinner on the first night for no charge, only cost of wine if desired. We went and did the $19 wine. Wine was good, Dinner was GREAT. Went later in the week for the other menu. It was GREAT too! Don't know if that was unique or is offered on any other cruise, but be sure to introduce yourself to the Concierge when you board.

As I said, I'm a first time HAL cruiser. I have done 24 Royal Caribbean cruises. I loved the Koningsdam. Every part of her. But I will say I am VERY spoiled having been in a Neptune Suite! You'll love it!

During our cruise last year, we had to order the "gorgeous corsage" for the first Gala night from the concierge.

Are these still available this year?

.

Yes, they are still available. A form is dropped off and you check it if you would like them and give it to the concierge.

Apparently, a number of people weren't using them so they do this to avoid waste.

I was just going to ask about the corsage, we don't use them and feel bad being so,wasteful.

I like this idea, as we seldom use them anyway, so why waste them.

We didn't enjoy eating in the PG on the Amsterdam for breakfast as much as other HAL ships. Too dark due to the lack of windows. For breakfast, I'd prefer seeing some daylight!

As much as I like the Pinnacle Grill on the R class ships for dinner, I would not like it for breakfast either as we do like to look out.

Dinner is different as many times -- like in the Caribbean -- it is dark outside.

What is/where is the "Culinary Arts for Dinner"? Not familiar with that as a dining location...

It's on Deck 2 between the Ocean Bar and MDR right across from The Blend wine making venue.

We enjoyed the CAC (Culinary Arts Center) very much. They rotate menus each week. If I remember correctly cost is $39.00pp before any mariner star discounts which includes unlimited wine (red or white).

The link below shows menus etc for the CAC:
