Sell me on Celebrity!

We've been on over 30 cruises on the common major lines. Celebrity is our favorite. Will Carnival disappoint you? While this question is highly subjective, from my point of view - hell yes!

But....but....see, this is the whole reason I hate when people want us to pick a cruise line for them. Millions of people LOVE Carnival....and although Celebrity may be MY favorite ......the couple of cruises we had on Carnival, were perfectly fine. You could ask your brother, your sister or your best friend....someone you trust for an opinion and you STILL may hate it. There are soooo many factors involved. As I have posted many times, we are not loyal to any one cruise line. We like variety.

Our last 10 cruises were on Celebrity. Have cruised on NCL, princess, RCcl, Holland, windstar, Regent, Azamara, Premier,Carnival and trying out Viking Ocean. Liked all our Cruises for different reasons.. Carnival when we took our children, the others were just my DH and I. Our favorite " non Luxury " is Celebrity.. tried NCL for this past New Years, never again.. food in MDR was awful, in specialty very good. We find the food on Celebrity very good, but now only book Aqua or Sky suite, so we can eat in Blu or Luminae. With all the perks we get, we stay mainly on Celebrity. Everyone has their own favorites.

We would never book or not book a cruise or a cruise line based on someone else's opinion.

Now that is interesting. So if you dismiss everyone's opinions how can you ever decide?

There are so many choices out there and different lines fit different people and tastes change as you get older. My guess on OP is that he likes big ships, Caribbean cruises (my guess since nothing was mentioned about itineraries) , and entertainment/gambling. I really don't think much touches Royal Caribbean's big ships when it come to those things. If we did a Caribbean cruise,we'd still consider Royal Caribbean, but for itinerary driven cruises, we're good with Celebrity and Princess and we are now considering Azamara for Southeast Asia. It is hard to say what best fits OP without any of us knowing him.

Well we started cruising a few years ago and chose Celebrity and since then we have cruise every year on Celebrity. Apart from the usual seeing different parts of the world on a floating hotel [touch wood] we have not had a bad experience and now its like a home from home. There is not much to dislike about Celebrity.

This is my opinion and how I feel...I love Celebrity!

I love a relaxing cruise that starts with a glass of sparkling wine when you first step on board, reading, laying by the pool, evening entertainment, wine tasting and the list goes on. I love how the ship never really feels crowded except on embarkation day before the rooms become available. I love the buffet set up in different stations for crowd control, the elegance of the dining room and the shrimp cocktail on the everyday menu.

Negative things about Celebrity....why go there...this is a totally subjective post and I choose not to dwell on the negatives.

Try it out, keep an open mind..some cruise lines fit and others don't...been there done that.

Leave on my next Celebrity cruise the end of August..getting excited.

Ok I am a Royal Caribbean diehard(Oasis Class) but thinking about the Celebrity big ships. I have also been on Disney, Carnival and Princess. Make me a believer in Celebrity! Me and my fiancé love cruises and I love gambling too.

The Silhouette is the best cruise I have ever been on for everything except the casino .

Geez, people are so literal!

I've sailed on both Carnival and Princess in addition to Celebrity and would pick Celebrity over them both. For us, it's the right combination of moderately upscale, things to do that we're actually interested in rather than a non-stop parade of things that we're not interested in. Biggest thing is that it seems grown up without being boring or stuffy. I don't need loud announcements around the pool about the belly flop contest or the hairiest chest competition...

Carnival seemed a little too basic, and we thought that Princess was a little too stodgy, so Celebrity suits us perfectly.

You didn't ask specifically, but we also like the mega-ship experience on Royal Caribbean (Oasis class).

But truthfully, a week on almost any cruise beats the pants off of any week at work, so there's that....

Have a great trip!

Can you plz be more specific about the kinds of complimentary activities that you like plz. TY

We just got back from a Celebrity cruise with the extended family. My DIL, who has sailed Disney and RCCL, made a great observation about how Celebrity is different. We were on a sold out cruise and it never felt crowded. The only time you could tell how many people were sailing is when you got on and off the ship!

I had sailed many times on Celebrity, always sailing either two weeks or four weeks (B2B) at a time. At that time I had only sailed RCCL and Oceania and felt Celebrity was the right fit for us, luxury without being over the top. But over the years things took a slide and prices went up drastically because they were giving us "free" options. I had an opportunity, 2 yrs. ago, to sail NCL Getaway for a week and then immediately after board Celebrity Eclipse for a one month sailing.

I was extremely impressed with NCL. maybe it was the ship, but we had a great time, there was so much to do and we had a ball. I have found Celebrity boring. Almost everything on Celebrity's daily schedule is a 'sell' from their restaurant tours, wine classes, learning about watches, amber..., or trying to get you to upgrade to the premium liquor package.

I will still sail Celebrity because there are things I still like, but now I will no longer be exclusive, I will shop around.

I too enjoyed NCL, but on my last two cruises, Pearl and Jewel, I experienced food poisoning. Not Noro, Food Poisoning! I am very sensitive to smoke and their smoking policy turns me away. I've heard some nice things about their Suite Class and would try it if they changed some of their policies and procedures. At this time I am a Celebrity Loyalist, but if more things change I can see the possibility of moving upscale.

I have to agree with this. Booked my first cruise in 2006 - just happened to pick Celebrity for no particular reason (maybe the itinerary?). I was not a member of CC - in fact, didn't even know it existed! Had no one else's opnion to go on. Had a great time and have sailed Celebrity (for the most part) ever since. I take most opinions on CC with a grain of salt.

Stay on Royal! If you love gambling and with others at the table, stay with Royal. If you want to gamble few others, especially after 10 pm, try Celebrity.

I love RCCL, and my last cruise was on the NCL Jewel, on which we had a wonderful time. We're booked on the Escape for December, for the activities, then the Seaside for a new ship. We are booked on the Equinox next December because we always wanted to try Celebrity, and the price for Dec 8th wasn't too bad. Wanted the Edge, but not worth $1000.00 extra in my opinion. I never feel I have to be sold on anything. I do my research, including on you tube, and make up my mind. It's not fair to ask anyone to have to sell you on anything. If you don't like it, you'll come back and start flaming for the "bad" information.

We cruised on RC Oasis last year and didn't feel crowded except on embarkation day. Loved all the activities, Central Park ambiance, Mexican restaurant, the parade, etc. That being said, it seems that the zip line, rockclimbing, ice shows, activities, restaurants, etc. are pretty much the same on their ships so I don't think we'll cruise RC for awhile. Definitely plan on another RC cruise in a few years though.

To us Celebrity is much more elegant and relaxing. Especially love the martini bar and solarium. Cruised several of their larger S Class ships and loved them. Going on the Reflection this year. The only thing I'd like Celebrity to improve upon is the entertainment. We're going back to MSC Divina soon, mainly for the entertainment...Wonderful.
