don't-use-real-name Posted February 26, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Flights arrive late, and not that far to go the first port. Airline flights have nothing to do with the sailing time UNLESS NCL has a chartered boatload of flights landing on the ships deck. But WAIT maybe the ships Captain is arriving by NCL air ? No ? Puzzling - the DAWNs sailings out of San Juan - the first port call is Bridgetown Barbados certainly not a hop skip and a jump more like a two sea day sailing. If the first port of call was St. Thomas I would say that would be a bona fida guess. Sailing with the tide - I don't think so ? This is not St. Johns the Bay of Fundy. Sailing with a romantic moon light departure out of ole San Juan how nice and romantic. Maybe NCL is waiting for the reenactment crew from the Pirates of the Caribbean to board and do the muster drill ? And then just maybe NCL will sail when it gets good and ready to ! Surfs up Captain time to sail ? The OP did not provide the DATE which may provide the Bermuda Triangle answer !

Like the triangle it may remain a mystery as to why there is a evening departure! Sent from my 2PQ93 using Tapatalk
Rare BirdTravels Posted February 26, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Thanks. I assumed that was the situation but why the late departure?Sent from my 2PQ93 using Tapatalk Allows more people to fly in on the day of departure. Hopefully most of the tourist-based infrastructure will be fully restored by January. The first few months after the hurricanes were rough for people flying in for cruises. dexddd Posted February 26, 2018 #13 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Do you know which pier you depart from? NCL sometimes uses the one by the old airport and not the one in Old San Juan area.

NCL sometimes uses the one by the old airport and not the one in Old San Juan area. Normally the Pier used by NCL is the old Pan-American Pier next to the airport and not the one adjacent to the San Juan old town. See Image: note the only cruise ship in photo is where the Pan-Am pier is. https://www.google.com/maps/@18.4600137,-66.1028715,1897m/data=!3m1!1e3
