anniegb Posted March 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Hi All I arrive on the Millie in Canada Place at 0700. We are the only ship in port. Using self disembarkation and the Skytrain, is a 1045 departure from YVR to the UK too ambitious?? I do have an alternative flight plan but that departure is 1830. Thanks Annie
Rare Keith1010 Posted March 9, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2018 I think it is too risky. I wouldn't do it. Keith
Cruise Junky Posted March 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Keep in mind you’ll likely need at least 2 hours at YVR. Could be done if everything runs like clockwork but very risky.
davekathy Posted March 9, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2018 I'd go with the alternate flight. Why end a cruise stressing about whether or not you'll make an early flight. Or spend an extra day in Vancouver and take an early flight home the next day.
neverbeenhere Posted March 9, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 9, 2018 If you are the first off the ship... Yes, you can make it. (But, be sure to take your plan B with you.)
gerelmx Posted March 9, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 9, 2018 If there are no delays I think it's OK, better to have a plan B
Italy52 Posted March 9, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Another vote for "too risky." Although the ship arrives at Canada Place at 7:00 AM, it doesn't mean that you will be able to disembark right away. Once the ship is cleared, then you will be able to leave. Add onto the cruise ship disembark, your travel time to the airport and airport processing...makes me nervous to think about it. As someone who has been on the Millie before and has had delayed disembarkation, I wouldn't wish that anxiety on anyone. We always stay an extra day in Vancouver, enjoy the city, and take an early flight out the next day. Whatever you decide, have a great cruise. Fouremco Posted March 9, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2018 I'm a firm believer in leaving a cruise as stress free as possible. As other have said, you could make it if all goes smoothly, but Murphy's law might well come into play.

Rare Jim_Iain Posted March 10, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 10, 2018 I just returned from Vancouver yesterday (not from a cruise). The airlines cut off luggage check in 1 hour prior to flight time and recommend arriving 2 hours before flight time. The fastest way to the airport is the SkyTrain. Closest station is Waterfront Station which is about 300 meters from the Pier. You would take the Canada Line to YVR Airport (26 minutes) and leaves every 7 minutes. The SkyTrain takes you right to the terminal. Check in is usually very quick but you will have to go through a number of security points. After check-in you take your bag to a large XRay machine and then proceed to regular Security and metal detectors. After this you need to go through Canadian Immigrations. After this you have to go through U.S. Customs and Immagrations. This is done using ATM type machines and then you proceed to a face to face inspector. There could be delays during the processing. We zipped through as they had a NEXUS / Global Entry lane which really expedited things. I think from the time we left our AirBnB to the Air Canada Lounge was 1 1/2 hours. She’s flying international though, not to the US. Probably would end up the same amount of time but no US customs and immigration.
