Michaela Wild Posted March 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2018 Which cruise line is the better one? I know, Regent offers included excursions and flights are also included in the price. Rare frantic36 Posted March 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2018 I think Regent is more child friendly then Seabourn on some sailings and from previous postings I remember this is important to you as your child is about 6yo?.
Michaela Wild Posted March 16, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted March 16, 2018 Thanks a lot, as we thought, We booked 3 Cruises with Regent, one in the meditaranian Ocean during Summer holiday, one for Christmas to South Africa and the other one for Next Cristmas to Tahiti with Regent. We are just thinking for a Cruise around the Greece Islands, and the Cruise with Seabourn is much more interesting for us. We did once a Cruise with Seabourn but without children. Due to many ports in the mediteranian Ocean it should not be a problem to travel with a wellbehaved child. Gesendet von iPhone mit Forums

Michaela Wild Posted March 16, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted March 16, 2018 That is definitly correct! But Regent did a great renovation process , Seabourn didn‘t? We never travelled with Regent before, therefore my hesitation booking Odyssee? Gesendet von iPhone mit Forums
Rare Fletcher Posted March 16, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 16, 2018 There is no dress code on Regent and that is a major plus for me. Yes I wear smart casual but jackets, ties and suits are best left at home for the moths to eat. I also like the included excursions. However, no Regent ship comes close to the perfection of the Seabourn Quest.
Michaela Wild Posted March 16, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted March 16, 2018 I guess, each travel might be so wonderfull in your memories as we travelled years ago with Seabourn Legend maybe 10 years ago... we liked it sooo much We like memories as you so much Gesendet von iPhone mit Forums
Rare clarky Posted March 17, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 17, 2018 As wripro points out each of us has a favourite for our own reasons. There are many reviews (in fact I have done one myself) comparing Silverseas, Seabourn and Regent. I have cruised enough now that itinerary is the most important reason for my choice of cruise line and I would happily take either of these cruise lines. I would not hesitate to board Seabourn after my last Regent cruise but I would also happily take Regent again. In fact I have a Regent and a Silverseas cruise booked. You will find like most of us that you prefer one element on one cruise line they do better than another. I don't think you will go wrong booking a Seabourn cruise. Gesendet von iPhone mit Forums Not sure what you mean by a great renovation process which Regent did and Seabourn did not. In any case, in my experience when one goes looking for issues one usually finds them. Perhaps you'd be happier sticking with Regent.
Silver Sweethearts Posted March 19, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 19, 2018 We never travelled with Regent before, therefore my hesitation booking Odyssee? Perhaps we missed something somewhere, but what does never having sailed Regent have to do with hesitation in booking Seabourn (Odyssey)?
Roxburgh Posted March 19, 2018 #12 Share Posted March 19, 2018 We tried Regent once and didn't like it. Food was not as good as Seabourn and the service was significantly poorer. To add insult to injury, they allowed cigar smoking at the only outside bar (on Regent Voyager) as well as in the casino and another bar. While the suites were a bit nicer and the walking track on the top deck was a very nice feature, the cruise director's main contribution was her daily video and the officers were largely absent. We were supposed to stop in Cartagena but that ended up being a 'technical stop' although we seemed to be there long enough that tours could have gone ahead. We felt that Regent lied to us on that one. We haven't been on Regent since and are unlikely to go on them in the future.
Tillylovesseabourn Posted March 19, 2018 #13 Share Posted March 19, 2018 Regent is ok but as we are not planned excursion people I wouldn't want to pay for something im never going to take advantage of, plus the food for us wasn't as good as SB. Les Picantins Posted March 19, 2018 #14 Share Posted March 19, 2018 While I can always find positive things to say about cruise lines other than Seabourn, I had such an awful experience on Regent that you couldn't pay me to give them a second chance. Seabourn remains at the top of my list.
turtlemichael Posted March 19, 2018 #15 Share Posted March 19, 2018 On Regent we met people who are now dear friends and we quite enjoyed the features of their product except that we are not prepared to pay mega-dollars for included tours of poor standard. Our future cruising will be on Seabourn and Silversea.
Delboy1 Posted March 20, 2018 #16 Share Posted March 20, 2018 Only one experience on Regent in Alaska, several on Seabourn. Found Regent tours of reasonable standard, entertainment better than Seabourn. Food and service better on Seabourn. Tours expensive on Seabourn so we mainly do our own thing in Europe. wripro Posted March 20, 2018 #17 Share Posted March 20, 2018 Anytime you have one of these lawsuit threads as I call them (one cruise line vs. another) you will always get posts favoring both sides of the aisle. Which is why they are pretty much useless.

claranda Posted March 21, 2018 #19 Share Posted March 21, 2018 We just got off Regent Explorer after ten days in the Caribbean, and are waiting to fly home to the UK from Miami. Our other cruises have been with Seabourn, but not since 2016. There were quite a few things we liked about the Explorer when compared to Seabourn - suites, bathrooms, showers and balconies are all bigger; we had some excellent food, especially in their French restaurant, Chartreuse. Three speciality restaurants, each better than the dreaded Thomas Keller. We had wonderful Dover sole, scallops and foie gras. The food on Regent is not so tasty - they actually had cut chillis available (Seabourn is a bit bland and poor on spicy food). Yes, the walking/jogging track was nice, the art is nice, but..... Breakfast was not as good as Seabourn. Tea time was an absolute disaster (you are passed a tea bag and given a pot of hot water) - and don’t get me started on the ‘sandwiches’... Nutella on French bread...?!. Staff are poorly trained and quite often misunderstood or got it wrong. No-one called us by name. We enjoyed our four tours, but didn’t think the premium we paid was justified. In Europe, where we do-it-ourselves, it wouldn’t make sense. We could not agree to Explorer being the most luxurious ship in the world. There are acres of plastic, some of it masquerading as wood; cracks are (literally) starting to show. Everything is dull, smoking club colours, no lightness of touch. Some of the lighting is badly sited and the overall decor struck us as tacky. To paraphrase how Jane Austen might have summed up Seabourn v Regent - ‘she has less of style and more of real elegance about her’. We’ll stick with Seabourn in future.... Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons. Or how about which is better? Mercedes Lexus BMW There is only one opinion that matters. Yes, your own. My view is if the opportunity is there try another line because you will never know unless you sail it. What others think are nice but really it comes down to you. Thankfully we all have different opinions. Otherwise this would be a boring world. Keith
