OBC for no Ocean Medallion

Please do not be disappointed. We just got off the Regal today and had OMs. They are just about useless. They worked to unlock our door about 75% of the time and that is IT! the crew isn't using it with the exception of the check-in process. Nothing works and you are not missing a dang thing. Our next Regal cruise in November is not ***** and I won't miss it one bit.

Thanks for the update! Wow! Seems like they haven’t made any progress.

Personally I think they are reworking their ***** thingies from scratch. Once that's done and working it should flow. The RFID cruise cards seem to work well I'm guessing the problem is in the Bluetooth. Too bad that can't just use our smart phones with an app.

Thank you for the feedback. Our upcoming May cruise was supposed to be Ocean Medallion. I got the email later that it would not be on our cruise. I was not offered, nor did I ask for, any compensation. I noticed our cabin price decreased by $400 from when we booked it. I was able to get the new price and I am happy with that. It more than made up for any disappointment over no *****!

Maybe you should get more OBC for having the medallion.

We are booked, July 26th, 2018, Regal Princess out of Copenhagen. We are expecting to get notice that the Medallion Service will be cancelled. Are we disappointed....not really, we booked for the cruise, not the medallion, and whether we have a bracelet, medallion, or just a simple key card, we do expect to have a great time.

Sounds like you should have received OBC for having to use the *****.

We are booked on Regal Princess, July 26, 2018. My Travel Agent just received an E-Mail from Princess that Ocean Medallion on our cruise will be limited to only a portion of cabins, and that our cabin will not be included. As long as they keep Club Class, I will not be disappointed.

what. Is. So. Hard. To. Get?

Perhaps they had a choice of ships/sailingsand picked this one because of the medallion.

What. Difference. Does. It. Make. To. You?

Boy, its a pain to type snarky like that.

lol!

I haven’t heard that the November regal cruise isn’t *****. Have you been notified. I’m on the 11/1 repo. I was on the first cruise last year that was supposed to be ***** but did not come close. Some of us didn’t have tv for a few days and we got OBC. but you had to ask.

I’m going to be very disappointed if the Regal is not ***** enabled by November. I had toyed with the idea of switching to the CB to sail with several regal retreaters but stuck with the Regal, mainly for the free and super fast wifi. We shall see.

Last September, we booked the Regal for October 2018. At that time, it was advertised as an Ocean Medallion "experience." We did not care one way or the other -- we just wanted to cruise to New England/Canada.

Last December, we received an e-mail from Princess, explaining the delay in implementing the medallion system on the Regal. They said that the medallion could not be guaranteed for any cabin on the Regal, nor for Princess ship. It was worded like a legal disclaimer, so that passengers who booked a cruise specifically for the medallion would have time to change their booking without any loss of funds.

When we called our Princess vacation planner to ask about OBC, we were told that Princess was not giving any OBC , unless the date for final payment had passed. The planner explained that Princess had sent the e-mail so that passengers who were disappointed would have time to cancel and re-book at a later date.

So in summary, Princess is not offering OBC to passengers who simply put a deposit on a future cruise, as those pax have ample time to cancel. - EBC

As I understand it, the free WIFI was consolation for not having the ***** up and running for everyone.

If you do end up with working ***** on your cruise, chances are the WIFI will not be free anymore.

Going on the Regal the end of August. Just got an email today saying my room is not Ocean Medallion. Funny, cause they haven’t assigned me a room yet.

Punishment for not bringing me! Since they don't do anything still but open the door, I can be your human medallion and run ahead and open the door for you guys.

I still have no clue how they know that you won't have a medallion stateroom when they still haven't assigned you a stateroom. They must have a heck of a long waiting list for the medallion stateroom. It's quite shocking that they aren't further along with the installations and things that go with then medallion.

from what i've been reading, there is only like 5 cabin category that have the medallion system. if your cabin is not in that category, you wont get it. hopefully they expand between now and October for my cruise

Ours somehow had it in Dec 2017 and we were the only one in the area on Caribe. C336 and I believe C337 got it on the other side of the ship. Otherwise they are all clumped together and on maybe 3 different decks towards the front of the ship if I recall correctly.

I’m elite so I get a lot of free minutes anyway. My hope is that I won’t waste them all like I did last year, trying to log in or post. And, the fee is now a flat rate per day. Around $11.00. Unlimited.

On the Regal in February, we had unlimited internet for being Elite (as did Platinums) for one device per passenger at a time. (We could log off of our laptops and log in on our phones.)

We were one of the last cruises to get OBC for not having *****. We booked after the final payment date at a casino rate and still got some. People on our roll call thread who called earlier ended up getting more OBC than we did. People who waited until right before the cruise to call ended up not getting any.

Not trying to slam/flame any particular individual but why is their a prevailing thought (in some instances) that the cruise line owes us when anything little thing, even before the cruise sails, goes wrong.....:confused::confused:

The internet is no longer by minutes. Forget those. I was on the Regal in January and board again this week for a TA. We were notified that the internet is completely free for one device if elite or plat. for one device only Great for me as elite since you can easily switch back and forth bt. iphone and ipad on your own. $14.95 per day for everyone else unless they buy the internet device package for the whole cruise and then it goes down to about $9.50 per day. Nice not to have to sign in and sign out. You are signed in all the time and it faster than at home and mine is fast. You will love it especially if you are elite or plat. Even other for a 14 day cruise whole package is $133 or much less if you want to only use it for a couple of days. Minutes are a thing of the past,

The medallion is a totally separate question. Only about a third of us on the Regal will have a medallion. The internet is an improvement that has little or nothing to do with the Medallion. The M screen is by your door, greets you by name and hopefully opens your door automatically. It tracks you around the ship and will be of great benefit to Princess marketing. I received a one time customer relations credit of $100 credit in January but it was clear then that would be discontinued in the near future. The new internet will astound you...it is the difference between the old dial up and wifi high speed. They have installed access points for every 10 cabins or so in the halls. Mike

Sorry to keep posting but I forgot to explain that the medallion is being giving out by Muster groups not by cabin types. For me the Medallion is of no interest. I sat at a table with some who had it and she said it was no big deal. Other than hopefully greeting you by name and unlocking your door she nor I could see any important advantage to the passengers. The new internet is a big deal. The staff at the M&M in January just smiled when I asked if it might be ready by my trip in April. I doubt it will be finished by this Fall. Mike
