Just had a lovely cruise on Silhouette

Was a regular on Eclipse and am booked back on Silhouette later in the year. I am not a shopper and not really into designer clothes and bags etc so I always find it a bit annoying that there are so many “premium” shops taking up a lot of space. I rarely see anyone in those shops when I pass - so who buys these clothes, bags, jewellery etc?

Presumably they must pay their way but to me they are a waste of precious space!

I've always wondered too. But remember, they don't have to make a lot of sales to make money. If we buy expensive clothing, jewelry or electronics, it will be at home, not on a cruise ship.

And don't forget, lot's of OBC out there is like found money to some people. My wife spends ours in the casino, some people buy a nice purse :)

I figure they don’t have to sell many items to make the stores viable which imho shows how overpriced the items are

There are lots of things I would put in that space. A puzzle room. An escape room. A regular priced bookshop. Another cafe - it’s murder getting a seat in cafe al baccio. A store selling regular priced holiday clothes. A store selling items you can buy as gifts without logos e.g. candles, chocolates etc. A 24 hour small cinema. I could go on .....

Love the shopping, how I use my OBC...

OBC not real money to me and prefer to get a better price and take different perks

My experience is mostly on ships sailing from the UK and I wondered if sales were better in the US?

I also would buy any big ticket items at home and not on board

Hi gadabout....the music cruise was lovely wasn't it? We had such a great time.

But remember on the roll call when you said you thought we were incompatible? LOL!

Well, I loved the Silhouette shops and bought a beautiful lace jacket and top, a Furla handbag, a lovely watch....I could go on....!

I think the shops on Silhouette were just great. :D

There you have it. I have more after shave than I'll need in five years. ;p

I thing I would never buy is a good watch or jewelry worth over a few hundred dollars. Especially if the cruise is in the Caribbean where a knowledgeable purchaser can get some pretty good deals.

"Designer" brands don't discount, so you can save on tax....but not on the price.

Not true, the Michael Kors bag my wife purchased was one of a number discounted towards the end of the cruise and ended up,around 40% less than it would have cost in the UK.

M Kors usually has a nice selection...

Also some cute items in the Costume jewelry shops...and logo and resort clothing...sometimes!

And fun to browse perfumes and cosmetics

Men's shops lately not very well stocked...

Liquor shop usually has good prices and easy to purchase onboard.

These are not Celebrity businesses but vendors....

Someone must buy the expensive stuff or they would reduce or re purpose the space...

I purchased a camera on the bravo cruise just to use up OBC, I would not normally buy as I could have bought it cheaper in UK. I noticed a sign saying Lowest Authorised Price Guarantee, I wonder if I should of asked a for a price match
