Sip and Sail dates confirmed for booking (June 26 - September 5, 2018)

Question for those of you who normally get the S&S promo or buy drink packages: I love and use these packages in the Caribbean quite a bit, but suspect we may not get as much value from them on our first AK sailing - seems like you're in port more and less likely to enjoy ship amenities? But never having been there, I'm not sure. I have the landmark 250/pp OBC now. Am I better off keeping that?

If you are able to switch to the Sip & Sail promotion at the same fare as you are paying under the Landmark promotion, then you need to decide if the money you saved by having the drink package was worth more than the $250 p/p OBC you gave up to make the switch. $250 divided by the 7 days of an Alaskan cruise is $35.72 per day. Will you drink enough alcohol drinks and specialty coffees each day to add up to that? ( 4 cocktails at $8 and 2 lattes at $2.50 =$37) If so, it would pay to switch to the Sip & Sail promotion. I have found standing on deck when cruising the glaciers requires a good bit of anti-freeze consumption.

Princess are pricing their cruises so high these days, I'm sure they're factoring in things like Landmark and Sip and Sail into their initial release price which is why prices don't necessarily have to go up to get the new promotion.

I just compared some of Princess's transpacifics to Royal Caribbean to see if it was worth switching to get a drink package. I almost choked at the difference and that's before sip and sail.

If Princess requires us to re-fare under the Sip and Sail pricing, will I be able to keep my cabin? Hoping pricing stays the same or will be lower.

I'm hoping not to re-fare but not holding my breath. They certainly told me I would have to re-fare to get the Landmark promo and it made no economic sense for me to do so.

With last year’s S+S offer I was able to add the OBC to two Spring 2019 cruises with the same cabin & price.

I’ve read posts from passengers who didn’t have the same experience. These offers are not available for all cabins so experiences can vary.

We don’t drink enough to fully benefit from the PBP and without the OBC option this year’s S+S may not be our best option.

Can you clarify please? Are you saying that the fare hadn't gone up any or are you saying that, even though the fare was now higher, you were able to switch to the promo and keep your old fare?

Hi Thrak, We switched to the Landmark sale which was at the same fare as when we made the original booking. I just looked at the same cruise/tour on the Princess website and it still quotes the same fare for our type and location of cabins-----mid aft penthouse suite and mid aft balcony.

Thanks. Princess has totally jacked up the price for one of our cruises that now falls under the Landmark sale. It's a crazy price hike where our cabin is now going for $700 per person more than we paid. Obviously we got a great deal but it seems like a pretty steep price hike since April 27 which is the date shown on my booking. We will (obviously) not be changing to any promos with new pricing required and will "suffer" along with the lower price. We have enough OBC to "almost" cover the gratuities.

That is such a crazy price hike! Let’s hope the prices are good for the promo.

Thanks Astro Flyer!

I’m going to hope I can add the promo without price increase and keep our cabin. We’d got one of those “obstructed” mid ship balconies on the Sky, that (if like the Royal and Regal) are not obstructed. Hope those cabins will be included in thr promo.

We don’t drink enough to really make the drink package worth it for us to buy either But since we have no perks right now, we’ll take it and hope for a better promotion later.

does a thread exist that compares the 3 For promotion vs the sip and sail

the 3 for deal is as i understand: 1) gratuities ( what's that 15$ / day) 2) OBC how much is that ? ( generally i am sure there is some structure based on the cabin booked) is it ever as much as the drink package? and 3) up grade cabin ( how often does that happen. ( I have no Idea , that is why i am asking) If you don't get the upgrade what is the point of the "3" , seems like only two of the promotions are under your control . any input for the more seasoned of you , for me it is difficult to compare especially when you read about price adjustments as "new" promo coming on line. If the cabin is 700$ more, during the promo, what is the savings there ? I guess like they say there is no free lunch. Maybe the best to do is commit and be happy with what you got.

Wow...reading thru this thread...no wonder Princess is not offering the OBC...because even if they did most people at least on this thread would move to another promo after booking.

I am one who kept the 4 S&Ss. that I booked on the first 2 offerings, 1 for a 21 day the others for 7days. 2 cruises retained their pricing the others dropped to where I figured I had to drink 45 dollars a day to break even. I liked the convenience but can certainly see why others dropped the Sip & Sail for better offers.

When the 3rd S&S was offered last year I declined...but was in enticed by the 3 for free.

Princess probably had to many changes on bookings made with the S&S and has decided, this offer should just go to those who want the drinks.

All of these promos are becoming more restrictive.....might as well, wait to see if the sailing you want is even in the mix.

You’re welcome & hopefully either S+S or 3 for Free works for you on the Sky. We’re on the 28-day in an interior cabin & hope to have 3 for Free and that it’ll again include OBC & tips. [emoji4]

We have an obstructed balcony on Spring B2B cruises on the Royal & online photos show no obstruction looking out from our balcony & should be the same for you on the Sky.

If I am reading this correctly, this promo is not available to solo cruisers and the beverage package cannot be exchanged for OBC! Wow, that will exclude me from booking!

Where does it say solo cruisers are excluded ? It is an alcohol promotion not an OBC promo. You should always book or change your booking to whatever perks will do you the best. If you don;t drink then book under a different promo

Yes, if a solo cruiser is already prepared to pay the single supplement for a balcony, mini suite or suite, they could probably find a better deal with a "naked" fare plus purchasing the PBP (or any other perk they desire) separately for themselves.

"These fares do not apply to singles or third/fourth-berth guests." Of course I book whatever has the best perks for me. My point is is that this is the first Sip & Sail that has these exclusions.

All that says is that the figures provided as examples in the advertising are PP/DO and do not apply to single, triple or quad occupancy. Nowhere does it imply that parties sized other than two are ineligible for the promotion.
