Nanascraps Posted August 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2018 I know this is kind of a weird question but when we went on our last cruise on Princess in 2010 they had the best beef Wellington in the MDR. Do they still have that? We're sailing on the Crown Princess to the Caribbean November 2019.
culvercitycruiser Posted August 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2018 Yes, I have sailed twice this year, January and July. Both had it on the menu.
moki'smommy Posted August 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2018 It was available in April. And I agree, it was very good!
Pam in CA Posted August 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2018 They also have it in the buffet.
GUT2407 Posted August 5, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2018 It was available, not sure it was the best, but not bad.
Nanascraps Posted August 6, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Thank you all so much!!! The only other cruise line we've been on was Carnival and they didn't have it and their food wasn't good at all!!
pilot Posted August 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted August 6, 2018 They also have it in the buffet. Didn’t have it on the Emerald buffet last week. Sent from my iPad using Forums
neverbeenhere Posted August 6, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Frequently it is in the buffet. And actually it is usually better in the buffet as it is “fresher”. I have been known to hit the buffet after dinner in the MDR(or specialty) to scan for a comparison. Always find something that I have to try. zogrand Posted August 6, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 6, 2018 We had it two weeks ago on the Star in Alaska. I look forward to it every cruise we’re on. I love it! I like my beef very rare and my waiter is always able to get it just right!
Jcr70 Posted August 6, 2018 #10 Share Posted August 6, 2018 I had it n the Sapphire two weeks ago. It wasn’t good, but it was the best thing on the plate ... the vegetables were awful!
EastBay Cruisers Posted August 6, 2018 #11 Share Posted August 6, 2018 Had beef wellington last year on the Emerald, and it was delicious. I'm pretty sure that it is on the menu at least once for any cruise of 7 days or more. It seems to be a Princess favorite.
Rare Coral Posted August 6, 2018 #12 Share Posted August 6, 2018 I had it n the Sapphire two weeks ago. It wasn’t good, but it was the best thing on the plate ... the vegetables were awful! Princess used to excel in vegetables - I used to always order extra. They were awful on the Sapphire IMO also. I didn't order the beef wellington because I knew by then that the beef wasn't good on the ship.
Rare geoherb Posted August 7, 2018 #13 Share Posted August 7, 2018 I don't know if they've changed the recipe, my tastes have changed, or they're not getting the quality of ingredients they used to. I don't like it anymore.
cheeseclan Posted August 7, 2018 #14 Share Posted August 7, 2018 We had it on the Pacific in the MDR last night. Very good!
Hoosier-Cruiser Posted August 7, 2018 #15 Share Posted August 7, 2018 It was on the menu on the last formal night last month on the Caribbean Princess.
PoohUnderstands Posted August 7, 2018 #16 Share Posted August 7, 2018 On the Caribbean Princess on the 7/28/18 cruise and Beef Wellington was served towards the end of the 7 days. On a score of 1-10 I would put it at about a 6 tops. Not a snob, but have had this dish quite a few times at land restaurants and basing my 6 on its presentation and taste compared to land restaurants. Considering how many dishes Princess has to make that is a decent mark. It's just that I got excited when I saw it on the menu and it wasn't that great a cut of meat and the pastry was just a 1-2 inch stripe around the meat. It wasn't encased in pastry as it usually comes. But a decent attempt on part of Princess and I did eat it!! Grin. Pooh

Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted August 7, 2018 #18 Share Posted August 7, 2018 My friend has been raving about the beef wellington on Princess for years now, but I tried it once and didn't care for it. Regal princess had it in MDR in November 2017.

I've never eaten it elsewhere than a Princess ship.
BuckeyeMark Posted August 8, 2018 #20 Share Posted August 8, 2018 Had it in late June on the (infamous) Golden Princess and I thought it was very very good. I don't eat beef (medical issues) except very sparingly so I choose my exceptions wisely. That one was well worth it!
