My bit of joy for today......our favourite local restaurant has posted its menu for December and for New Year's Eve.  We are lucky enough to have a reservation for the 7 course late seating on NYE.  The chef/owner loves to create excitement without giving away surprises.  Here is the menu he posted this morning.

I'm going to have fun trying to guess what will be on offer.

Had a light snow/frosting this morning.  Later tonight, real snow will be arriving.  Parts of Ohio will received the "gift" of three to six inches.  For our Central Ohio area, maybe only 1-2".    And, it's only November 30, right now.  Winter is nearly here in the Midwest!!??

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

I really liked Carl Sagan.

As our scientists warily dust off some of the insults they've received, wanted to share this quote:

“In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics…”

Carl Sagan. I shook his hand once. For some reason he came and gave a guest lecture at Albany Med, back when Chris and I were residents. The usual lecture hall was SRO and they "streamed" his lecture to a second lecture hall (via CCTV I am sure; this was the 1990s).

We got him to sign our copies of the program afterwards. I wonder if I still have them somewhere?

That's so cool JP, you shook hands - some day soon we'll be able to do that again.

We saw him once in person, had to drive the 1.5 hours to Charlottesville to catch him at the University of Virginia, but the venue was like a seminar by a visiting professor, and was totally worth it.  Hope you find those programs, guess it would just be for fun.

One of my all time favorite movies is Contact based on Sagan's 1985 novel of the same title.  You got to remember, I had just turned eleven when Star Wars was released in 1977.  I've been dreaming of extraterrestrial life ever since.

Good morning,  Dr's appts for me this week. Today I go see the Kidney specialist.

It is a follow up.   And tomorrow I have to go to the GI guy who treated my ulcer and I am

having a follow up endoscopy.  (it is in his office)but since they do put you under, they will

not allow me to drive.  The folks I normally ask to help in driving? Well, I don't want to continue

to bother them so will be using a car service called ZTrip.  It is like Uber.  I have used them once before and it went smoothly and so hoping this will be too.

Good luck with those follow ups Lois

YES, good luck to Lois in dealing with that "Medical FUN!!"

Below is the "look" from out my bedroom window when I got up this morning.  Snow on December 1!!  Wake up, it's winter time!!  Fortunately, the roads were not too bad.  Don't the trees look great as they are "bathed" in the white frosty?  Sorry that Florida, etc., misses this winter fun and these scenic sights.  Right or wrong?

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio
