I reached a significant milestone on Sunday when for the first time probably in 40 years I reached a BMI of 24.9. So officially no longer overweight.

So to celebrate we went for a long Sunday lunch at a French restaurant on the Sunshine Coast - Periwinkle at Peregian Beach The food was excellent. The owners also run an italian restaurant so a couple of Italian styles appear. We usually now only have a 2 course lunch but Rojaan does consult the dessert menu beforehand. So it was a main and dessert this day.

I started with a Tuscan tarte Flambe and then had an apple tart. I do love a good tart.

They both were excellent. I love Gorganzola and it really lifted the Tarte.

Rojaan had the linguine with spanner crab and a creme caramel.

Both very good but she loved the creme caramel.

we went with another couple and here is their food. The crab souffle, canard confit aux peches and crepe suzettes.

Hmmm… I look forward to yoir BMI report tomorrow.  You may be back in my club where I’ll be waiting to welcome you with open arms.

BTW… with that silliness above said, I must say kudos to you for what you’ve accomplished so far.  Really impressive.

Looks delicious, @drron29

BTW we made lunch reservations at the place you and Ann recommended - Whitegrass in Singapore. Looking forward to their menu!

Tarte flambée is an absolute favorite of ours. The traditional version with crème fraîche, thinly sliced onions, and lardons is out of this world. And one reason why my BMI is probably higher than yours...

I find that since I keep in a very tight weight range most of the year, my body accepts that as my 'normal' weight.  So when I overindulge occasionally, the added weight comes off quickly once I return to my normal routine.  Here's hoping that you can get 24.9 BMI as your new 'set' weight, so lovely meals like this don't undo all your good work!

Indeed this is what I am finding. Having taken a year to get here I am not easily going to undo it. I made a goal wait of 81KG a year ago but the target is for the end of the year. Well we do have a 54 day followed by a 45 day SS cruise before the end of the year. Unofficially I now think I will try for 80KG and that is a BMI of 24.1.

Like you, I enjoy the entirety of this forum.  But, the absolute last thing any of us needs here is UKCruiseJeff’s judgment.  Trust me.

The guy has announced multiple times he has left our forum here for good, only to reappear.  So, let’s just hope he keeps his word this time, even though I doubt that he will.

Who keeps paying his fee?

Super congratulations to Dr. Ron and very much appreciate the wonderful French dining pictures.  Excellent all around.  Lovely and very tasty.  Making me hungry.

Here in Central Ohio, for a Midwest location, the weather continues mild and very nice.  Mostly sunny!!!  Below is the AccuWeather chart for the current week and showing the previous week, too.  Can you believe two days above 70F in the past six days!!!  How are things in Canada and the Northeaster U.S.?  We are not Florida in our part of Ohio, but doing well for early March.

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

From AccuWeather for Central Ohio, here is our weather for the current period and upcoming.  Look good for the Midwest in early March?:

Appreciate this excellent dining tip for Singapore.  Am looking seriously at a Silver Moon February 2024 Mumbai to Singapore, 18-day sailing.  Would stay a little extra at the end for an our first time in Singapore.  Have saved this Dr. Ron suggestion for Singapore.  Look forward to J.P. providing details and visuals from that dining experience.  Have the sense that many on these Silversea boards will be able to share many great suggestions for such exciting locations as Singapore, in India, etc.

As add proof that Spring is coming early for this part of the U.S., I have some visual "evidence" as shown below.

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

Sydney to NZ/Auckland Adventure, live/blog 2014 sampling/details with many exciting visuals and key highlights.  On page 23, post #571, see a complete index for all of the pictures, postings.  Now at 242,419 views.

As an example for how Spring has arrived so early here in our part of the Midwest, below are some of our daffodils in full bloom yesterday afternoon in early March.  You can also see that part of our front lawn is fairly green for this time of the year.  Amazing weather?:

Over this past weekend, we were down in central Virginia for visiting with our grandsons, family there.  It was great, this early, to see so many trees fully flowering.  Another sign to prove an early and nice Spring!!:

So must do post or two about Whitegrass. The menu.

ss132.jpg.1ecafe97f7314ae7608f620c2f65f7e6.jpg

I paid the waygu supplement.

Rojaan had the smaller set.

ss133.jpg.075c817c7e5cd05ca7c609847fb46185.jpg

So her Amuse bouche was smaller than mine.

ss134.jpg.74cd8f950978333254593fd8d7590456.jpg

And mine had a little bit extra -tiny sashimi prawns which were very nice.

SS135.jpg.c833ecbdacc81bc2c0a00933b383216a.jpg

Then my appetiser an excellent tuna dish whilst rojaan's was NZ salmon.

SS137.jpg.2cacd539120b943bb6cd355e33340e2e.jpg

Second appetiser for me Hokkaido scallops.Wonderful. Rojjaan enjoyed her corn consomme.

ss139.jpg.b0edaa9b5cb031ffef50c7d39b046670.jpg

Then my extra course -Japanese Amadai tilefish. Very crisp on the outside and so moist and tasty inside, Excellent.

Then to the mains. Rojaan had the French poulet with langoustines. She thought it very good.

ss141.jpg.060547ad341492f152fa482befb6530a.jpg

My Waygu was worth the supplement.

ss142.jpg.eb5bdaa7b65ccd9e25cbb7f273feee74.jpg

Then the desserts. Okinawa pineapple for Rojaan and Rosemary ice cream with pistachio and cherries for me. Both were enjoyable.

ss143.jpg.039034d20bdcd2a863c27c6350f44f35.jpg

ss144.jpg.4b5bbcc905f27615e9ab1c4bbface303.jpg

And to finish off a little cake.

ss145.jpg.f0e1adff1d4e6ea41dff8433a40e825c.jpg

The chef you will not be surprised to know is Japanese but trained in France. It shows not only in the food but also the crockery.
ss146.jpg.2c95067752f2349b51f3d7ef0c0a46b9.jpg

Though this plate looks like a Japanese style it is made in Germany.
We ended up getting along very well with the manager/sommelier Wendy so had a couple of good conversations. I think because she liked my summation of our lunches at Odette and Whitegrass. We had eaten at Odette a week before and it was very good but too much food for us aand it cost 3 times as much $A1100.
Odette is very much on the production and presentation where Whitegrass is basically about the food.

We were last to leave.  We were also each given a complimentary glass of a Yuzu liqueur.

ss147.jpg.3b38228d4883dd4f4233fc80a28620cf.jpg

As we were last to leave I got a picture of an empty restaurant.

Lots of fine dining in Singapore. 52 Michelin starred restaurants.

Les Amis is very good but of the 1 star restaurants we really like Whitegrass, Iggys and Summer Palace.

So very kind of you JP!  😅  We'll have to respectfully pass though. We have to be back here for our St Patrick's Day Happy Hour at 4:30 pm on the 17th.  Seniors like to get the party started early because sometimes we fall asleep by 9:00 pm.  😅
