I thought Dogs weren't allowed?

Was it in the carrier or on a lap? Off Oasis last week.  A Pinnacle had her dog out on her lap at the bar several times.

Keep in mind some Service Dogs need to be in close proximity if their function is detecting something.

And if that dog wears an outfit, who are we to judge.

I do believe there is a difference between support animals and service animals? I believe the animals we are referring to here (at least for my post) are the ones people don't want to pay to have in a pet hotel while they vacation so they bring them with them as opposed to someone who has a disability and actually needs assistance from their dog.

I totally agree with you!  My history of posting on this issue shows opposition to these "support Animals" being allowed to cruise.  They bring many problems including:  excessive barking, hostility to real trained service animals, aggression toward humans, defecation in public areas etc. Tip offs include cute little outfits, riding in strollers etc.

A friend helps a Legitimate Trained Service Animals group -- Paws with a Cause with their group cruises.  All participants have trained dogs, who don't exhibit the behaviors I cited in my first paragraph.

I'm sure it not just me but I do have a problem with people who abuse the system of "service dogs" to do whatever they want.

I think true service dogs and those people that need them should have every ones support but the owners should understand and respect that not everyone may agree/understand.

I have no tolerance for people who think they can take photos of strangers and post them on the internet.  Especially without knowing which of the above scenarios applies.

This is a good story on the problem with fake service dogs (AKA emotional support animals). Fake service dogs, real problems

Everyone gushed over the picture of Sully by President Bush's casket. Sully is a service dog, he is specially trained to do specific tasks and Sully is going to continue to work with disabled vets. Sully was not jumping up and down as mourners walked past, Sully wasn't in a baby carriage, Sully wasn't eating at a table. Sully isn't a pet. K-9 officers are working dogs as well. They put their vest and badge on and go to work, they may act like pets once at home with the handler but they don't ride in baby carriages or eat at the table either. I know of a blind doctor whose service animal had to retire early as when as a medical student he would go to sleep in the call room, but his dog wouldn't (he was working). I know, sounds strange a blind doctor but here is his story Seeing Potential

Please keep your floofy friend at home if you don't require the dog to preform a task for you.

Delta is tightening up on Emotional Support Animals.  No young animals as ESAs and prohibiting ESAs on flights over 8 hours.  Hope this action inspires RCI to follow their own policy on ESAs.

We saw a dog on a ship for first time on our cruise 2 weeks ago on oasis , he was in suite lounge which was filled with pinnacles.

That dog is a regular passenger on the Oasis. They won't pay to board it so they bring it with them. Pinnacles are allowed to bring their pets with them.

Really 🤔

I hope you're joking.

Those that bring their dogs on a regular basis due to their status will be "Grandfather'd" in and allowed to do so even after that so called new policy takes effect. Unfortunate but that's the way it'll be.

Where did you hear that?

Doesn't really matter, new policy has no teeth

Every selfish and entitled idiot who brings their pet claiming it's an "emotional support animal" makes life that much harder for those who have a true need for a service animal.  We know that small dogs can work to predict seizures, detect low blood sugar and more. However, because these people bring their small PETS, I'm sure those with small service dogs face many more questions and undeserved hostility when out in public. If I were one of them, and saw someone with Fluffy dressed in a costume while riding in a stroller, I might not be able to reign in my anger.

Despite that this statement is utterly nonsense , here is an "Emerald & Suite Guest Service Dog" , Right now in Rhapsody casino. "Service dog" on the long leash, waiting for any guest to pet him…..as his "master" plays the bandits

Maybe RC are approaching the issue of selfish dog owners, who brings their pet, claiming they are an "emotional support animal", wrong.

Perhaps RC should offer an annual dog friendly cruise. This would hopefully reduce the number of fake emotional support animal on other RC cruises.

RC could provide extra services for the dogs, like a dog grooming service; dog sitting service for when the owners want to go on excursions.

RC would have to charge extra for the cruise due to the ship having to be deep cleaned, following the cruise but this would still be cheaper than owners kennelling their pets.

Maybe stores leaving their doors unlocked overnight 1 day out of 7 will stop burglary the other 6 days.

The only way RCI will respond to people gaming the system by claiming their little rat dogs are "emotional support" animals is if the rest of us complain, and complain loudly via the end-of-cruise evaluation.  Let them know that service animals are welcomed, but little yippy lap dogs eating from the table in the MDR or leaving a "doggie land mine" for the crew to clean up is not.

To not complain is to acquiesce.

No joke:

today the "Service dog" that does not understand his role yet, was roaming on the long leash in the casino.

A woman accidentially tripped over the leash/dog and was rudely yelled at by the dog owner to care where she walks…..

It became a case for guest relation.

It was not yet clear whether the want-to-be-service-dog or the woman receives a Future Cruise Crédit voucher…..

Unreal.  That dog owner would have gotten an earful from me.
