Ray Brown, Jr's dad, Ray Brown, was the best jazz upright bass player ever, in my humble opinion.  What a pedigree...Ella Fitzgerald and Ray Brown as your parents!  Thanks for this blog, Jim.  We're on Silhouette on 9 December, and signed up for this cruise next year.  Hope we have better weather than you've experienced!  🙂  Congrats on Zenith...we're lowly Elites.  Tgohal

Hal & Kim, look forward to meeting you onboard.   You should check in with the roll call for the 9th.

I too was surprised to see the prices for wine by the glass. On the Millenium in April I really enjoyed a dry rose called Whispering Angel in the Rendezvous Bar before dinner. It was included on the premium package at approx $13. It will be interesting to see if it still included when we join the Silhouette next month - I hope so 😀. My husband also enjoys the occasional glass of Laphroaig malt whisky and that no longer looks to be included on the premium menu.

Looking forward to joining the Silhouette in 4 weeks time and trying the alternatives if they aren't 🍸🚢

We ventured up to Lawn Club Grill on Friday evening. It was very quiet. I was ok to begin with, but we were wrapped up in blankets before we finished. I made my flatbread, but left the steak and cookie to the chef. My DW had red snapper and a shrimp and scallops kebab.

Sorry to keep up this diversionary topic on Jim's thread but I just had a thought as to the $15 limit on the Premium package.

On European sailings Celebrity includes the price of gratuities in the drink prices and the package limits so a $13 drink plus 18% gratuity would be 15.34 - rounds out to $15.

This confusion happens every summer/fall.

EDIT:

My mistake.

I failed to carefully read Jim's post.

It specifically says "USD"

Quote:

Premium Package

$69 USD/per night*

Just $14 per night more than Classic Package

Includes drinks up to $15 and those of the Standard and Classic beverage packages. An 18% service charge is added to each check. Wines by the bottle are discounted by 20%.

I keep finding Dec 9 cruisers following along this trip with Jim_Iain that haven't stopped by our Roll Call to say hi. We're a friendly and welcoming group, stop by and introduce yourselves!:classic_biggrin:

I am happy all of you are along. I do the same and love to follow along from home. I always learn so much.    Like the Al Bacio 2.

11/11

Awoke at 7:30 this morning and were sitting undocked just off the pier.   We were suppose to dick at 7:00.  It is now 8:30 and we have been docked for 45 minutes but the haven’t started calling numbers yet.   Glad we planned bfast for 9:00.

It is a sunny morning ant temperature is a chilly 36F.

Last nightt was really rough.   In Luminea you could see waves going totally over the windows.

They finally called group 1 at 9:00.  We walked across deck 14 which should have been closed as it was covered with ice.  We heard a scream  and saw a lady on the ground.   The pool butlers rushed to assist her.

At Sky Lounge the separated guests into two lines.   US passports and a line for others.

Once we we got to inspectors the just looked at passport and said thank you.  Took less than 3 minutes.

When end we got back to the room, John was there delivering breakfast.  Perfect timing.

Ah, that’s the bar where I collected my water, when exiting the Ocean View cafe.

Interesting that they are providing free shuttle to Quincy Market.  When we were last there on Summit, there was a charge for the shuttle.

It was a very efficient shuttle.   Parked right in front of Acquarium - Quincy Market is actually a couple blocks away.

Possibly they put it on free due to being a day late and cancelling a port.  Happy they did as it was about 38f when we left the ship.

We started our day by walking to Quincy Market and trying to find the Freedom Trail.  We were told on the bus to just follow the steps.   Later we found there aren’t steps but a brick line.
