OP, since your original post mentioned that you've sailed Royal, if you belong to the Crown & Anchor, call and get a Captains Club number and have both attached to your reservation. It may get you some added niceties. You can do that by calling 1-800-760-0654.

Thanks!!

So sorry you have that impression of X cruisers...a 'researcher' myself, I can't see where you've read that 'people are snobby on X'.  I've read a lot of criticisms of the ships, the food, the staff sometimes, but I can honestly say that over many years I have not read on this board that X cruisers care what cabin you're in (impossible to know) or that they treat you differently once you've told them.  We're not perfect or all the time the nicest or most polite, but can you quote one of the comments found somewhere to help us understand how you got that impression?

I can not tell you how much I appreciate the response and reassurance...I will have to go back through posts to find some that caused me eeek red flags.  I can not quote verbatim but some of the mentioned comments were to the effect of inside passengers feeling as though they were also entitled to Blu - or insiders thinking they should be on the same level as suite when it comes to reservations - like I said  I will go through the posts and when I see them again I will snip them - truthfully the other passengers are the least of my concern - I can not change anyone's attitude it is all in my reaction - my larger concern was the staff differentiating - I hope that makes sense...

Yes,  wrong impression..now explained by all the posts. Hope you enjoy your cruise.

Suite guests and some levels of casino guests  get special boarding  and disembarcation areas. and are walked to customs ahead of others. Suite guests have reserved areas of the theater.

None of these extra perks should affect you...and no one will care where your cabin is located,

Annemarie, welcome to Cruise Critic and Celebrity.  Most of the posts here, I'm sure, have reassured you that no one knows (or cares) where your cabin is.  What they care about on Celebrity is that you have a great time.  We have been in an inside cabin in Alaska, above all places, where it is de rigueur to have a balcony because of the scenery.  We enjoyed our cruise and saw plenty.  As others have said there are many who would rather go often in an inside than only once in a while in a balcony.

One of our very best cruises was on Summit.  We are booked to sail on her again in Oct.

Enjoy every minute of your cruise.

Some of us never sail in suites and still have a great time . We, too, bring our teenage kids with us and they have sailed on every cruise since we began cruising. Letting go of those strings is very difficult - I know exactly where you are coming from 😍😍.

The staff aren’t bothered which cabin you sail in; as long as you are polite and show respect, it wouldn’t matter if you were stowing in one of the lifeboats 🤣. Well, that’s our experience (obviously I’m not referring to stowing 😆).

YES!  However - do not get me wrong - I LOVE the balcony rooms and suites - but I want my 2 kids to come (15 and 22) and all of our personalities will not fit in any room small than a PH lol  - someday when I get past the guilt of not bringing my grown "babies" I will sail again with a view - LOL!

I appreciate the response because IO totally agree 🙂

I hope you do a review when you get back. We are one cruise in on Celebrity, Edge, and are trying to decide if the other Celebrity ships are for us, mid 40s and our grown child is almost done with College.

While I did say people don't care in my first post I will adjust that to most don't but you never know you may run into that one who thinks they are special for whatever reason. However I've learned may not pay out for them in the end. I will always laugh about this as on my first cruise 5 years ago I encountered some lady on the ferry back to the ship in St. Maarten. She was going on to me that she got a nice canvas tote bag and welcoming sparkling wine because she was "Concierge" I really didn't care and not sure what it was brought up. But however after having to listen to her crowing about being "Concierge" I just calmly replied, yes I know I get all that as well since I'm "Aqua". Boy that shut her up and the other passengers on the ferry from Celebrity were laughing at her. Good lesson that you may think you're "better" than someone else but their may also be someone who is higher than you. Better to treat everyone as equal.

We’ve been on lots of cruises and I can tell you that we have no clue what type of cabin anyone is sailing in.  They would have to mention it for the info to be shared.  We could be sitting in the Martini Bar with people staying in the Royal Suite on one side and people in an inside on the other and have no clue, don’t know, don’t care.  On ONE cruise we were In an Aqua cabin and ate in Blu, and could not identify any fellow Aqua folks in a lineup 10 minutes later.  As someone said there are all kinds of reasons people sail in the cabins they are in and it’s no one else’s business where you are sleeping, why you are there.  We did an inside on the Summit to Bermuda, and I felt no difference in service from when we had a regular balcony.  So, go, have fun, don’t sweat the little stuff.  Bet you’ll love it!

🙂 I do not think I could enjoy myself in paradise without them - however - separate cabins is best for all lol!  Don't get me wrong we do plenty of weekend getaways without them...just not to Bermuda 😉

lol...

and I am glad to hear you are not admitting to stowing away but that the staff will even respect those that do 🤣

I been on inside cabins when I do Bermuda cruises, your in port for most of the time.  I only use the room to keep my clothes in and sleep, showers I am usually at the gym or do pay for the Persian/thermal suite if I want to use it.  I never have noticed any type of being treated as a second class or whatever by the crew.  There's always the few people on the cruise who act that there better than everyone else but I ignore or laugh at them.  I ran and worked in hotels for 25 years plus and Celebrity always has been great with the service given.

I am booked on my first Celebrity Cruise for next year with my two my kids. I am not worried about snobbiness in the least. I know firsthand what it's like to be looked at as inferior by fellow passengers. When my wife was 27 and I was 30 (about 13 years ago) we sailed the final sailing on the Holland America Noordaam on a Baltic cruise to Russia and such. We received many snarky comments from fellow passengers that we didn't belong on there and "what we were doing on that ship?". We were the youngest by far. There was a group of traveling women (seniors) that constantly would motion to each other whenever we crossed their paths as to "look, there they are" type comments and they would roll their eyes ..... especially one lady in particular. I'm assuming my wife's breast implants may have had something to do with it.  No matter how much we tried to mind our own business it would happen all day. The final straw came in the theater when that group sat next to my wife and I just to give them something to talk about. I caught the same women motioning and rolling her eyes again and that's when I told her that "if I catch you looking at me and my wife one more time this trip I'm going to break your f---ing neck. Guess what, they avoided us like the plague (scared) and would turn the other way when they saw me (6'7") and my wife coming anytime after that. I probably could have gotten kicked off the ship for that comment or worse these days but you get it. Point is this, don't ever let other cruisers make you feel inferior because you're not and they don't know your story. Travel when, where, and how you want. There are people that are Platinum on Carnival that seem to think they are Royalty ..... Good luck and don't Cancel that X cruise. My experience didn't stop me from booking HAL again the next year and Princess after that. BTW, the staff never treated us any different and were always pleasant.

That's perfect.  I have had different experiences like that on other lines, where I was waiting patiently in line for guest relations and a lady rushed to the front because she thought she was more important etc.  I spoke up and asked her why she did that, she said something that I'm in a suite etc.  So I took a poll of the 12 of us waiting, and asked loudly do you think this women should be allowed to cut in the line.  You can guess the answer.  The lady kind of stormed off.  The guest service people where trying not to laugh.  I have seen all types when working in hotels, and really do not pay them any mind but have no problem calling them out.  So in general, make the cruise what you want, don't pay anymind to others what they think, common courtesies and manners go a long way.

Dear OP,   Like the Knight in Monty Python.....you have chosen Wisely.

You will know as soon as you board when they hand you a Mimosa, Champagne and/or OJ...

I think you will really like your Summit cruise to Bermuda.  We did a last minute booking “inside guarantee “ 2 years ago because it was really inexpensive.  We were assigned a cabin the most forward you could go in a hallway we never even knew existed.  This was our 5th cruise to Bermuda and one of our favorites.  Lost so much weight from the long walk every day to and from our cabin.  My husband could take long naps during the day in total darkness.  No one knew our “status” except our room steward and no one cared.  Cruises are what you make of them.  I prefer a balcony but would do an inside again in a minute if the price was right.  Enjoy your cruise!!!

I agree with the previous posters, you get what you paid for.

There are few places where you do not have access to depending on your cabin class.

I have been on Celebrity a couple times, I'm far from a cruise expert, but, one thing I have noticed, not just Celebrity but other cruise lines also, people are very quick to tell you or let you know what there cruise line status is, "I'm a Diamond, I'm an Elite, I'm a 17 star and so on, lol.

Not sure if these people are making an attempt to belittle you or trying to tell you how many times they have cruised ?

I witnessed a lady on my last Celebrity cruise berate and curse at a MDR staff member because she is an "Elite" cruiser and she deserves much better service than others, hmmm.

You here this once you consider the source, you hear this more than once from several people you ten think that they feel entitled.

I wouldn't look at it as "areas you aren't permitted in."

I would look at it as: "if you book certain categories, which are a lot more money, you will have added perks and benefits."

It's not a separation by class.  Anyone, including yourself can choose to book an Aqua or suite category.

Cruise lines want to give people some benefit for paying a lot more for their cabins.  Oceanview guests get windows.  Balcony guests get balconies.  Aqua and Suite category guests get special dining rooms.  Suite guests get a special lounge.  Suite rooms are larger.  etc.

Good luck finding a cruise ship where everyone gets exactly the same thing regardless of what they pay.  It won't happen.  If you pay more, you should get more.

That's my opinion

Actually, I agree with the original poster.  I have sailed on Celebrity three times but the last sailing I felt the "stuffiness".  The "That's only for the **** Class"   "You can only dine there if you are in the **** Class"   "You can't go into Michael's Club, that's only if you are in the **** Class" - that one really gets me because our first cruise on Celebrity we could enjoy the Michael's Club but now we are turned away at the door.

I understand the excitement of being in the upper tiers of cruising but it does make us "ship rats" feel like we are on the Titanic in lower status just lucky to be on the ship.  Before I get jumped on, one specific memory is on the Reflection next to the MDR was a special "**** Class only" dining room that was in full view.  That was kind of rude.  Was I suppose to have these feelings of "Oh!  I can't wait until I am in that Class!".  That's probably what marketing is aiming for......

It's nice and all and I congratulate those of you that can afford those benefits but perhaps it would be better not to be rubbed in our faces (that statement was for Celebrity).  I'm going on Celebrity next year and I am just going to enjoy my cruise have fond memories of the Good Ole Days when my husband and I enjoyed Michael's Club.

I have been on numerous cruises in the past all NCL and RCCL...this is my first time booking a cruise on Celebrity.  The itinerary and timing worked out perfect.  There are four of in our family so we decided to book 2 inside cabins.  In the past I have tried all types of cabins; however, it made the most sense for us to go with inside this time.  HOWEVER, after reading through these boards I am beginning to think that booking Celebrity might have been a mistake..it is appearing as though if you book an inside cabin you are treated as though you are a second class citizen...not just from the staff but from some of the passengers as well...I have read more about the areas we will not be permitted in than I have about the areas we will be permitted in.   Am I getting the wrong impression? or Should I book us on a different cruise line?  I am looking for honest answers...please!

Ultimately, on X, 98% of the passengers and 99% of the crew you are likely to come in contact with do not care.

Like you, the passengers are there to enjoy themselves and the crew to make sure that you have everything you need or want...

Worry not.

bon voyage

I don't understand this thought process.

Staying is a suite is not like an exclusive membership where you can only join if you're in an accepted tax bracket; nominated by another member or have the right race, religion, sex, pedigree or national origin to get in to the club.

Anyone can stay in a suite, and get all the benefits of the suite. All you have to do is pay for it.

And if someone wants to flaunt their suite stay, they're idiots and I ignore it.

I don't see a problem.

I've never felt second class regardless of ship or cruise line if I wasn't in a suite. As far as special restaurants or lounges, those people paid dearly for those benefits. If I wanted to pay that much,  would get the same benefits.
