Reserved seating in the Princess Theater

There is not that many of them to take up many seats.  Ron the Rev - there are WC locations, so I don't see the problem.  All they need do is set aside however many match the number of guests in those suites.

There is a lot of seat saving going on by one spouse for another, etc.  No one seems bothered by that.  I suppose it happens, but I have never seen anyone trying to hold a row and half a row.  They make the announcements about not saving seats, but pax don't seem to mind someone holding a seat or two if another person is on the way or stopped for a bathroom break.

And how will those in wheelchairs be accommodated ?

How they have been accommodated currently. Why would you think it would change ?

I can't see how that would be much of a problem since it involves only a handful of people.

If they try & extend the program to the rest of the crowd, it might.

I really hope this doesn't lead to the way RCI requires reservations for their productions shows.

Royal Caribbean has a section in the theater reserved for suite guests.  I have used this service with them.  The concierge walks you to  your seat.  The section of the theater is never filled;  so that tells me most suite guests don't take advantage of this perk; or they just don't care about using this perk.  I assume that the sky suite guests will fall into the same category.  I was in a suite two weeks ago and only made two of the four shows in the theater.

It seems like a disservice to reserve seats for people that might not show up at all when there are others that are ready to sit down and might not be able to find any seat because the theater is already filled.

I hope Princess doesn't go this route in the future.

It should remain first come first seated.

Reminds me of our last cruise.  DH and I entered a row to sit down. One woman in the middle of the row approached us and informed us in a loud harsh voice that she was saving the whole row for her family. At that moment, an announcement came on about No Seat Saving. I looked at her and said, "Did you hear that and did you understand that?" She glared at me and repeated that she was saving the whole row for her family. DH and I sat down a few seats away from this person. During most of the show, she turned sideways towards us and glared at us. End of story: No family came to sit with her and the row slowly filled with nonfamily members. We noted she did not confront any one after us. There are always some people who do not play nicely with others.

I think an air horn in a can would work well in that situation.

Princess can find a way to monetize theater seating.  While there are only 2 sky suites (how many pax max?), perhaps a Club Class Plus could include reserved seating, along with other perks earned by Plats and Elites.

No way. There are enough seating issues now.

It's always best to get a crew member to explain it to them.

Also, 10 to 15 minutes before the show, Celebrity opens the seating to everyone. On Celebrity the area is never full based on my experience.  The area in question is a few rows in the middle section of the balcony on Chic (formal) nights only.

It does bother me if I walk  in and take an empty seat, and then have someone tell me the seat is saved.  The rule is no saving of seats, as is often announced.

On the last two cruises, one on Celebrity Equinox, second on Silhouette, they had the reserved seating for suite cruisers roped off and you would be escorted by a staff member;  those not suite cruisers would be turned away.  BUT, about 10-15 minutes before show time, the rope would be removed, and the area open to all cruisers; which I think is only fair..

Are there people standing in the aisles waiting for seating?

Just saying ... always a way to enhance revenue, no matter the impact on pax

True, but don't give them any more ideas.

Keith...based on the series of promotional videos by their VP of NA Sales advance theater reservations for anyone was a cool option being promoted for their new OceanMedallion system.

That was before their failed November 2017 implementation on the Regal but it didn’t explain whether there was a fee but it could be another way to enhance revenue.  So Princess has already promoted making advance seat reservations which hopefully has been eliminated despite their promotional video so they already have the idea.

If you can find a crew member to explain it to them. I prefer a constant announcement in the theatre explaining that there is no saving of seats.

Also there are signs around the pool stating there is no saving of loungers but people still do it. There is not enough crew to go around to teach people how to be considerate of others and share.

You’re welcome & hopefully the plan to add advance theater reservations has been placed in the round file.  I haven’t read any posts about it being available on any MedallionClass ship because as you wrote there are already enough seating issues.

I don’t think that VIP seating is something new...saw crew wearing officers uniforms seated in prime theater seats before a show until the CD escorted the VIPs to those saved seats.

We also had this happen.  The whole row.  The three of us did sit down anyway at the end of the row, but the woman was livid.  Her family came in a minute before the show started, and three did have to sit elsewhere as we did not get up.

With none of her family joining her in that row maybe that’s an indication that none of her family wanted to sit with her.
