DISNEY bans smoking in their US Parks

Royal's smoking policy is consistent with most cruise lines, and stricter than some.  (Celebrity, however is stricter with no casino smoking).

 

So why pick on RCI?  Wouldn't it be more appropriate to comment regarding DCL who allows smoking on board in view of the statement posted about the Disney Parks?  Or maybe all cruise lines?

If you visit a Disney park you are only there for part of a day, not for several days at a time. And you can leave the park to smoke anytime you want. You can't step off the ship after it leaves a port. 

 

Not even the same situation, and not even comparable. Your point is without merit. 🙄

 

The smoking policies most cruise lines have in place today is fine.

I wonder what this will do to the European tourism trade to Disney.

 

For many years, they have had, out of the way, almost hidden smoking spots.  

 

I am not a smoker, but my SO is, and now I am happy we went Dec 17, as she could not go a long full day with a smoke.

I think it is a good thing, even though it is legal, smoking is a disgustingly bad habit and shouldn't be done anywhere near children.  I know a lot of adults frequent the Disney parks but I still see it as a good thing. Children learn bad habits from others.

Not just the wagons.  They put in place general size limits for strollers.  You can rent a "legal" stroller at the entrance (at least at Disneyland). 

 

It also mentioned that only collapsible are allowed on Disney transport busses.  Since those busses take a large number of cruisers to/from Port Canaveral and Orlando, this could have an effect of cruisers who do the combo Disney World/DCL vacations.  (there is your tie-in)

Can't wait to see the protests from the people who soon will have a medicial prescription for marijuana.  (The public was sold on legalization as compassion for people with cancer and other painful medical conditions.)  This means that they have to leave the park and request reentry to take their "dosage". 

 

I am glad to see a limit on stroller wagons and baby SUVs and wish the NYC subway would do the same.  Every one of these things brought into a packed subway car means that three or four people won't be getting on.

If an open air large adventure park can ban smoking, then why can't Royal (or any cruise line) ban smoking inside their ships. Now they do, and not just Royal when cruising in Australian waters.

Not sure I understand you post.  RCI only permits smoking in the casino indoors - at least on North American based itineraries.  And the OP didn't specify indoors on ships - just challenged RCI to "get with the program".  Meanwhile DCL (and many others) permit smoking on board.  Still don't understand why they singled out RCI and not DCL (or all the others) when referring to Disney parks.

I guess.  Just seemed like a random comment as (mentioned before) RCI is consistent with most cruise lines with their smoking policy.  BTW one of the reasons we typically prefer Celebrity is because they have eliminated smoking in the casino so the only smoking on board is in the designated outside areas.  Maybe the OP should look at them for future cruises.....

A LOT of Disney business in FL is from Europe, were smoking is more common.

 

IMO, Disney did a good job to handling smokers.  They had smoking areas around, but out of the way, and out of sight.    Only way if would be in the sight of children is if they parents took them to the smoking area.

Not true, for instance, one of the Magic Kingdom smoking areas was on Main Street next to the hat shop, it was often full of smokers and well within the sight of children.

Maybe "was" years ago, but not recently. The only smoking areas at Magic Kingdom currently are a dock in the southwest area of the entrance to the park, tucked in a corner of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad area, and next to the restrooms at the east border of Tomorrowland. They have not allowed smoking anywhere on main street for as long as I can remember. 

 

Trivia: smoking was allowed in Disneyland when it first opened in 1955. It was never allowed on rides or in attractions, however. It banned smoking other than in designated areas in the late 1990s. Their cruise line had restricted smoking from their first launch.

Yes, we were there Winter 17, and the one at Tomorrow land, was around almost behind Space Mountain.

 

There was also one other one, but now I forget where.  But they were well tucked away.
