The negative post was from one passenger. She was alone traveling with her two young kids. Seems like everything she ordered or did turned out wrong. We all wondered if there was something she did wrong. She also told us about all kinds of things going wrong on her prior to boarding vacation. Or she could have been just very unlucky. Sometimes things just get screwed up.

Everyone we spoke to loved the cruise. We heard no gripping when on board.

I never had to go to Passenger services  with any complaints. However, one passenger told us that whenever he put $100.00 on his account in the casino, he got charged $200.00 on his on board account. he said it happened three times.

Our casino deposits all came out correct.Don't know why he had the problem and neither did he.

How was the food?   Did you eat in the main dining room, and do you remember who the Executive Chef is?  Thanks.

Food was good. Sorry I don't remember who the executive chef was  on board.

Only awful meal I had was the first night. Basa(fish) was so salty I coudn't eat it. I always get basa  but this seemed undercooked

and so salty couldn't eat after one bite.

Waiter brought something else right away.

No usual last night menu. No meatloaf or Turkey. This may have changed on the Royal back in Nov when we were on then. However, we had turkey last night on the Emerald in January.

Ate in dining room every night. Lunch in dining room only a couple of times. Breakfast in DR three times.

Horizon ct. food was good for lunch. Thursday morning they had a chocolate buffet at breakfast(chocolate oatmeal, muffins, chocolate fountain for the fruit etc) as well as the usual breakfast items. Friday lunch was a shellfish buffet as well as sushi(and usual lunch items).

Thanks for your input.  I always order the fish the first night as well, hope they have it squared away when I board.

We will be on this 4/6 cruise and I have no doubt that it will be an excellent cruise.  This will be our fifth time on this class ship, with the most recent being a year ago. We have never experienced all the hurdles that other lady did, on any cruise,  on any line.   We have had minor issues here or there, but never consistently irritating issues (except on Carnival LOL)

It is unfortunate that some future Royal cruisers  are now concerned about what they will experience, in advance of their cruise   due to one poster’s dispositive experience.  We really do have to take some of these posts with a grain of salt.  I always feel like the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Thank you so much, San Diego Sue, for weighing in with your experience aboard the Beautiful Royal Princess.  I have followed your posts for many years and I trust your judgment.

Also, thank you for the advice about getting to the parking lot on time, as I was wondering where all those cars might fit now that these ships accommodate around 3,500-4,000 passengers vs the old 2,500 passengers. Granted, not all of us will be driving, but you give sage advice.

I appreciate your comments as well as SanDiegoSues, I was alarmed by the negative posting.  It did read as a total cluster, and I should have been more discerning when reading all of the posts.  I was on the Royal two years ago for a 10 day Southern Carribean and had a great experience.  Looking forward to the outstanding entertainment throughout all of the venues, the food, and Alfredo's!

I am most excited for our favorite haunt, the Horizon Court, as it always has such a nice array of salad  bar items on this ship, even better than Celebrity’s Solstice-Class buffet, which I used to think was the best.   My favorite night is Italian night, as they prepare at least 6-8 pasta entrees, and they have an entire round of Parmesan cheese in the buffet as well, and more breads than I’ve ever seen on the other Princess ships, with the exception of the Regal.

We are also also looking forward to Alfredo’s, and I love that they have lots of items to choose from, unlike at Alfredo’s on the Grand.

I was the person traveling with my two kids and yes, I did post about my negative experiences - you will find I was not the only person posting negative comments. There is a post on here where folks on directly before us were posting similar complaints regarding passenger services.

I love princess and this was our 24th cruise with them, but I will not defend them when they are wrong! Passenger services were completely inadequate at fixing their mistakes- I am glad you did not have to deal with them. I do find it unacceptable that, despite the fact I had Princess confirmation card AND tumbler for soda package in my room, passenger services were not able to accept that we had the package until day 6 of the 7 day cruise. It’s also unacceptable to be promised coupon books and not receive them until it is too late to use them (the only thing worthwhile in the books is the bogo specialty restaurant on embarkation day).

I also posted about the positive experiences- the cruise director and cruise staff were excellent, the entertainment was great (though Secret Silk never made an appearance despite being listed on first days patter - personally, I couldn’t care less about that but others I spoke to on-board were disappointed). Unlike you, I heard many complaints from other passengers- maybe because I did have to spend so much time standing at passenger services.

I post both positive AND negative experiences as both might be helpful to other passengers. I’m not entirely sure what you ALL thought I did wrong - everything I was entitled to had Princess paperwork to back it up - passenger services refused to even look at it. That is not good customer service and certainly not what I am used to with Princess!

Sorry everyone, I hate to have to do this, but this is a LIVE review which is supposed to limit hijacking. I do these live reviews so my family and friends can follow along and so others can view my experience LIVE. Please create a new thread if needed.

From CC Rules:

Also disrupting to the Community is Thread hijacking which is the act of trying to steer a forum discussion thread off topic by discussing a subject entirely unrelated to the original topic. This would also include making references to the original poster, or even to OTHER posters, that have nothing to do with the subject at hand.

Creating a disturbance during a "Live from......" Thread is also not allowed. We're grateful for members who take the time to post on their vacation, plus spending $$ to do so, to share with us stuck at home. If you disrupt a "Live From...." thread you will find your posting privileges suspended.

Completely understand and did not mean to hijack your review! I’m looking forward to reading it. I just felt I needed to defend myself after the comments made about my posts!

Apologies......and have an amazing cruise!

Relaxing on our deck, enjoying the sun and thinking about the pub crawl that will be in full swing exactly ONE WEEK from NOW! Can’t wait for this work week to be over!

With a gorgeous view like that, who needs to cruise? 😂

I just noticed that the photo of our itinerary is backwards (look at the arrows) when compared to our actual itinerary. The photo is like the NCL Star itinerary with PV first and Cabo last. Too funny! 🤣🤣

We sailed to Alaska - Inside Passage including Glacier Bay - in September 2018 on the HAL ship Nieuw Amsterdam and it was WONDERFUL! I’ll post a link to that review below in case you are interested. That ship has a ton of outdoor viewing spaces so I know what you are looking for. I will check out the Royal and see how she compares in that area. Also, it often rains in Alaska so viewing from a covered or protected area is another consideration. I’ll also check for those spaces on the Royal. Hopefully I will be able to score 2 loungers in the Sanctuary and be able to video the entire area for you. Enjoy Alaska! It truly is a beautiful place.

I am also cruising to Alaska on Royal in July and would appreciate your viewing tips!  Thank you!  Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Thank you! Will do. I LOVE Alaska. I'd like to do a longer cruise/tour there when I retire. Right now I can't get that much time off. That and the Panama Canal. Work just keeps getting in the way... 🤣🤣

Here's hoping this work week flies by!

Hi there,

We are boarding on April 27 for B2B to Vancouver.  I see that Ray Coussins was the Piano entertainer last week. Do you know if he will still be on when we board or will be someone else?

Cheers
