Ocean Medallion Question Thread - Part 1

I have an iPad and the MedallionClass™ app was in the App Store.

I’m happy you found the app. Good luck completing all the questions It’s very easy.

I think all you have to do is enter your Ocean Ready password. Have a great time on your cruise. 👍😁

When I open the app, in the upper left corner it shows my name, with my photo, & that I am off ship (we don’t sail until October, lol); & in the upper right it displays the local time. The home page also displays a countdown clock til our next sailing.

Ours became available today on the Sky both Nov.10 (73 days) and Nov.17 (81 days). Made final payment last week.

What concerns me most about the medallion is that it is assembled in China.  China either requires companies that want to do business there to share technology or they just steal it.  I would rather not have China possess the information about me that is in the medallion.

For those who asked about linking your cruise info into Medallion Class App.  The ocean team is working to allow you to link all your cruises into the app.  This would be cruises you have put a deposit on; even if it's a year away.  Right now you only are able to add you current cruises within 75 days

The new Medallion Class app is now available in the Google Play Store.  It replaces the five clumsy apps they put out before.  Nice looking but not useful just yet as we are still four months out.  As I understand it, I can't link up our booking until we are within 60 days.  Is that what others have found?

as far as i can tell, the medallion class app is just a wrapper that will call up each app from 1 interface.  you still need to have the other apps installed.

Hmmm.  I'm not sure about that.  I uninstalled the other apps a month or so ago because they were bogging down my phone so badly.  This new app seems to be operational all on it's own.  It just doesn't recognize my booking number yet.  I read somewhere in this gigantic long thread that you can't link up your booking until you are 60 days out.  I was able to add my personal info, look at a couple of the Ocean View programs, etc.  Just none of the onboard stuff yet.

In fact, I see that poster AF-1 just one post before my original post says the following:

Sounds like this issue will be fixed as well.

@nukesubsailor - thank you for your post. We appreciate your concern and rest assured data security is a top priority for our company. The OceanMedallion itself contains no personal information or data. Think of it like a license plate that communicates a non-meaningful encrypted number once you're on board a ship.

Thank you for that info.  I am now more comfortable about the security of my personal information.

I still am against doing any business with China due to their government's disregard for ethics and human rights.

@Ms SailAway @vampiress OceanReady, JourneyView, OceanNow and OceanView launch directly from within the MedallionClass app. You can also quickly link from the new app to OceanCompass, PlayOcean and Ocean Casino, so if you've previously downloaded any of those three experiences, you'll see them open directly. Otherwise you'll be connected to the app store to download them. 

 

OceanNow and OceanCompass are accessible once you're on board. You can access all the other digital experiences prior to your voyage.

Sounds like this issue will be fixed as well.  

I think the Medallion Class App will be a big improvement over the Ocean Ready App.

Thanks for the updates...after the MedallionClass app (iOS) update yesterday our cruise in early November was automatically added to the app.  Today I was able to order our OceanMedallions to be delivered to our home 14 days before our cruise.  This process is much better than for our April MedallionClass cruise.  Hopefully the problems getting the OM delivered won’t reoccur so we won’t need to call the Navigators again.

 

Thanks for creating one app that allows access to the other apps. 👍

No password needed. You use your cabin number and birthdate.

It's not a hardship to carry my phone in my bag. I also use it as a camera and don't want to be without it. It was handy to use the phone to check the Patter or onboard account while waiting for entertainment to start. Glad to hear that  Princess is combining more functions into one app. All is easy once you know how.

Hope I'm  not late to add to the info party- I discovered something that may help someone else: 

I had read that the Medallions come via Fed Ex or similar, but they reminded on the app me to pick up my Medallion at the pier since they could not deliver to my address. I use a PO box for my mail delivery.

 

Yesterday I changed to my street address in the Personalizer  and today the Medallion Class app confirmed the new address, so now I'll get my Medallion ahead of time (I'm  guessing). No more delivery error message anyway, so that's a good thing. 

 

I would not care about picking it up under normal circumstances, but I am on the 3 day Sky out of FLL at inflated prices, so every minute onboard counts! 😁

Well, we downloaded the new Medallion App, and everything seems to have transferred over just fine.  Except, now we both have an orange exclamation point next to our picture, as well as one on our Travel Documents  circle.  When I tap on the circle, it just says to bring our travel documents with us to the port. Our passports are scanned and showing up on Travel Documents, so not sure what else we can do to get the little exclamation point to go away!

I downloaded the Medallion Class app.  It shows all of our information for the Sky TA sailing Nov. 17, 2019.  I got our security and profile pictures on there and am now ready to scan our passports to be Ocean Ready.  We are both Captain's Circle gold level, but my husband shows gold and I show blue.  On our reservations on my desktop computer, we both show gold, which is correct.  Is there any way I can fix this on the app without calling Princess?

We are on the sky 11/17.  We did all oir updates last night in the ocean ready app last night and it was all green.  Now tonight I went in and we have an red ! On travel documents bur cannot change anything BUT we were able to order our medallion.  Should we call princess or just wait
