Live! Grandeur 4.18- 4.25.19 - Same Old Ship, Different Day

Recommended Posts

One thing they do on this cruise, is they load some casino cash on your seapass card. They say it is in an amount from $2 to $100.  You have to use it in the first two days, or it goes away.

Three guesses on the amount loaded on each of our cards. That’s right, $2.   We managed to make it go away faster than they were going to remove it.  We also sent some green friends along with them, so I guess we made our contribution toward that new $300 million building that is in the works for Royal.

It it is not advertised very well that there is money on your card, so check it out.

I know some have asked about the ladies dress on this cruise, so I will try to give my impression.

There are probably only 15% or less with sleeveless outfits, and those are usually on the younger ones.  Most, including Susan, have sleeves plus either a jacket or wrap.  I think most are comfortable in that.  If it is too warm, you just take the jacket or sweater off.

I could check out more outfits, but I may get in trouble 😬

Will it work in the slot machines, or do you need to go to a table?

It works on the slots. You have to put your card in, enter your PIN number, which they use your birthday month and year, check your account balance, and transfer the amount to the machine.

Hope you have luck better than ours.

We were supposed to set clocks ahead an hour last night. Not sure why they don’t stay on ships time for this cruise?

it says it will be 70 and windy today.  When I look at the details, the wind sock on my weather app disappears and is replaced with suns when the wind is 20 mph or less.

I usually get a bit of free $$ for the slots each cruise, not sure how it happened because I get it and my husband doesn't.  So I guess this time he'll come too and try his luck.  LOL  Hopefully our group of cruisers won't make it too smoky for us.  Really bothers my husband's asthma.

I may not have been clear about when the cash shows up.  It is just on day 2, and that is the day it also disappears.  I guess that makes sense, because of sailing in the bay for so long.

I like that it's early in the sailing; less time for the casino to get smoky.  😄

There were people going to the casino on day 1 when it was closed, just to smoke.  It is the only indoor place that allows it.

The top tier party was sparsely attended, likely due to the weather.

The makeup for this cruise is

600+ Gold

155 Platinum

104 Emerald

106 D

55 D+

17 Pinnacles

The top three cruisers had 825, 974, and 1050 points

Last cruise (sail date 4/6/19) was over 1500 Gold or higher.  😄

28, then 32 Pinnacles. 4 made it on board.

Top tier was PACKED.

Tonight’s Headliner show was Rookie, a Canadian band playing 50’s and 60’s music. If they are playing on your cruise, don’t miss them.  Very good show.

As a plus, they were the only rocking and rolling in the theatre tonight. The seas are getting calmer😁

Hmm, I guess they stayed on board.  The played the previous cruise.

And I agree, DO NOT MISS them.

Our one day of surf internet is done, so we picked up the surf and stream for the rest of the voyage.

At guest services, they have a map of the dock yard available.  It is the same as this one that is online, but the online one is a much clearer print.

They also have a ferry schedule, that is the same as this link.  All the copies they hand out are black and white, and hard to read.

They hand out a bus schedule for routes 3 to 7, which must be the most common routes

I did do a short periscope on spur of the moment as we sailed in. Didn’t know what quality it would be with this internet.  Sorry there is wind noise.  I forgot my wind screen.

Anyone wants to to see a replay, it is here.

I spent some time talking with John Blair and his wife Katrina today (CD and AM).  They are a wonderful couple, and they have been doing a great job of keeping everyone entertained.

I met Captain Thor tonight and got a photo with him.  Are all these captains giants?   He was very enjoyable to chat with.

Captain Thor is Mr. Personality! He looks very regal. looking forward to shaking hands.

Could you find out if John and Caterina are on the Feb 8 cruise? Are they kind of permanent on the Grandeur with vacation breaks in between? I love them! Met them first on the Enchantment and have come across many excellent ones, but never met a match!
