Forgot they also gave us OBC on each cruise. Can't remember how much and not at home to check but it wasn't bad at all. This year we "won". Last year it didn't work out at all. Win some and lose some. If we get to cruise at all its really a win every time. 1
Cruzin with BQ & CQ Posted June 13, 2019 #52 Share Posted June 13, 2019 We added the beverage package on our B2B for the Pacific Northwest and the California Costal in September 2020 for 50$ pp per segment. Thought it was very worthwhile!
famski740 Posted June 13, 2019 #53 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Just got notification again from our TA. She has re-fared our no promo Enchanted Princess b2b in 2021 with the Sip & Sail promo. Cost increase was $305.40 for entire 14 day cruise, PBP for both passengers comes to $1982.12. Can't beat that promo

We got the beverage package and gratuities. We paid $70 per person more than Princess is offering to day BUT Princess doesn't list that cruise as a Sip and Sail cruise nor do they include gratuities. We come out $883.48 ahead. Second cruise is 13 days. We paid exactly the same fare Princess is showing but also got gratuities. We come out $377 ahead. Third cruise is 14 days. Again, we paid exactly the same fare Princess is showing but got gratuities included. We come out $406 ahead. Total advantage for the 3 day sale vs Sip and Sail: $1,666.48. Many thanks to all who steered us to the 3 Day Sale! A lot of information and somewhat complicated. Wouldn’t you be able to get a TA discount from the Princess pricing if you transferred your bookings to a TA? Do you have the PDP on all legs of your B2B2B? I was able to add the Sip and Sail to my 2021 15 day Panama Canal Cruise for $110 pp. So it worked out for us. Since my category had no availability I had to transfer to another category, cancel, and then transfer back. Thanks

My normal TA would definitely have discounted all 3 cruises but I don't know if he could match the overall savings and, at this point, I would have to pull the booking from the current TA and transfer it to the regular one. It seems "messy" to me. I already had the original TA spend the time to get me the same cabin on all 3 legs and they provided the perks. We even got the beverage package, free gratuities, and OBC on the first leg (6 days) where Princess offers zero perks for that one. 2. Yes. We have the beverage package (and free gratuities) on all three legs. I am home now and just checked on the OBC we got. For the first leg (6 days) we got $50 AUD. For the second leg (13 days) we got $200 AUD. For the third leg (14 days) we got $275 AUD. (All OBC is in AUD since the cruises are out of Melbourne.) This is OBC that was not offered by Princess and increases our overall benefit quite a bit. An extra $525 is very welcome. Add that $525 AUD to the $1,666.48 USD we saved over booking directly with Princess and I am a very happy camper. Wahoo!!! My next cruise is in January...for curiosity sake, I looked up the price. Right now a CC mini is $1300 pp more than I paid for my Vista Suite. Think I'll stick with what I got! We have the same situation. Moving to Sip & Sail would cause us to lose the casino discount which combined with the fare increase would result in the extra cost exceeding the value of independently buying the beverage package. So we are sticking with what we already have too!

We re booked with Sip and Sail, our cabin stay the same, no chance! Of course it’s not available, I had it booked, but I rebooked it with the Sip and Sail! You should be able to do the same if the price is right!

BoopTennis Posted June 14, 2019 #60 Share Posted June 14, 2019 I found this odd. I checked my New Zealand cruise in January for any price changes when Sip n Sail came out. No Sip n Sail. Price per cabin went up +$1000 from the previous day!! No promo. Ship doesn’t look even close to sold out. Isn’t that unusual?

This is a very individualized decision. Over the years, we have kept track of our onboard spending and we know what our typical drink costs/volume are. Our numbers do not match our travel friend’s numbers; everyone has different habits. For us, it works out to around $30/person/day at current prices. That’s nowhere near the Princess cost of $70 per day for the PBP but it is what we use as our ‘value’ when considering price drops and which promo is the better bargain. One of our friends uses the cost of two bottles of water and a large specialty coffee (~$10 per day) as her number, because that is what she drinks. 1965 Posted June 14, 2019 #64 Share Posted June 14, 2019 Our 2020 cruise, Rome to Dubai on Regal, was booked for $1719 pp. It's now selling for $2219, with the premiere beverage pkg as a perk. Not cost effective for us on this particular sailing.

This is true for us also, the main reason we have never purchased a drink package on Carnival due to the fact we just don't drink that much, however we do purchase the specialty coffee and always pre-purchase bottled water. We have a year out from our cruise dates, so will just watch prices it would have to be enough to purchase the drink package on our own as well as some more additional OBC to make it worth while for us to refare. Not sure the price is going to come down by that much, lol. The drink packages are better now that they do include all the extra items other than just the alcoholic choices. Some don't want to have a bar tab when they leave the ship, however it doesn't bother us, you pay one way or the other. It shall be interesting to wait and watch. polmcs Posted June 14, 2019 #69 Share Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) Our Nov 2020 10 day Tahiti cruise went up about $105 pp on the Princess site, but I don’t see a S+S package on my big box TA site. I will call in and see if they will offer the same fare as Princess. I’m also looking at a 15 day HI circle cruise from LAX at the same time as a backup to the Tahiti cruise (need to see what EZ Air can offer to PPT and what post cruise packages Princess will offer before we fully commit which won’t be till next Jan by which time S+S will be over). The HI cruise went up $110 pp, so I will probably book that as a backup when the big box TA updates their site with S+S Edited June 14, 2019 by polmcs

IBsaved Posted June 15, 2019 #72 Share Posted June 15, 2019 We are on the 28 day cruise on the Island Princess on June 25, 2020 and booked it when the sip and sail wasn't available. We enjoy the unlimited beverage package and if we booked it without the "sip and Sail" it would cost us almost $4000. When the package became available we asked our TA to see if we would be able to get this. We had to add $600 pp to the fare which seemed like a good deal for us....saving almost $2500. Any thoughts? Rare ceilidh1 Posted June 15, 2019 #73 Share Posted June 15, 2019 My TA was able to add sip n sail to our 15 day Hawaii in March 2021. The price went up $236 but still a bargain...
Papa Yoda Posted June 15, 2019 #74 Share Posted June 15, 2019 We added S+S to an Alaska sailing August 2020, price went up $518 for a suite - we got a deal to start with so a win for us... Casino discount on a suite for Alaska is only 5% so S+S is better.
