New Carnival AMEX Offer!

 Share

Recommended Posts

Thanks to the OP for posting this. We love the AMEX offers. I got $150 back on my deposit of $750 back in September, then another $75 back by paying another $350 with this current offer. As I was paying that, I saw the notice to get a Carnival/Barclay Bank credit card and get a $200 statement credit, so I said "what the hell" and applied for the card, paid off my cruise balance of $499 with the new card, and will get that additional $200 savings. So the bank cards have conspired to save me $425 off a total fare of $1599.

Yesterday I signed up for the Carnival Cruise offer from AMEX. My final payment for my cruise is not due until later in the year. My travel agent books directly with Carnival. So today I called my travel agent and I paid $350 toward my cruise balance using my AMEX. I received confirmation from AMEX stating I will be receiving my $75 statement credit.

From AMEX:

“We appreciate you using your Amex Offer at Carnival Cruise Line Rsvr. You'll be rewarded with a $75.00 statement credit, which will automatically be applied to your statement if your purchase meets the offer terms.”

Just booked a cruise for 5/2020; Had already accepted the offer.  My PVP was only going to charge me $250 as the minimum deposit however I had the PVP charge $400 instead.  Received an email from AMEX the next day saying "Great News; You used your AMEX offer". Make sure you accept the offer before booking the cruise and put at least $350 on your AMEX card.

Surprisingly, this offer JUST showed up when I was checking my balance (paranoid now that my card was compromised a couple of weeks ago).  I just added it, which is great timing since I need to make final payment in a couple of weeks.

So, for those folks like me who have an AMEX card directly through a bank rather than with AMEX, keep checking those offers!

Hello,

Has anybody had any luck using this offer to purchase cruise cash?  I saw a few earlier comments from people doing so but I don't remember them coming back to say if it was a success or not.  Our cruise is in 2 weeks so I would love to take advantage of the offer instead of purchasing more AARP gift cards.

Please share your experience if you used this offer on something besides a regular payment.

THANK YOU!

I thought someone had posted that "gift-shop" purchases didn't count.  What about pre-purchasing excursions?

Rather then purchasing cruise cash, why not just use the card for your on board spending account?  I'm sure I'd easily spend $300 while on board for drinks, service charges, and casino use.  The offer is valid for almost another month.

Sailor Taylor,

We have used the AMEX offer on NCL twice so it’s possible.  I haven’t seen RCCL though.  We have used the Princess offer to purchase OBC only but this new Carnival offer seems to have more restrictions.  Would still love to hear back from anyone that has tried.

Thanks!

Oh wow- I didn’t even know NCL participates. I guess they don’t like my cobranded cards as I’ve never been targeted.

This hasn't worked in the past for me. I think the important thing is that the charge on your card show up as "CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE RSVR" for it to apply.

Ah, the timing on this offer kills me.  I'm past the 60 days final payment window and my cruise departs 2 days after the offer expires...figures, lol.  Guess I'll hope this offer comes around again in the future.  Upside, the Amex card I have is the 6% grocery one so I still get nice cash back on my Carnival gift card purchases 😉

I can confirm that it works with carnival cruises booked through Expedia. Expedia pays Carnival directly and the charge shows up coming from carnival reservations. I already got my $75 back.

Anyone know if it would work for booking cloud 9 spa packages or drink packages booked on carnival website? I know it’s not supposed to work, but that don’t mean it wouldn’t work. I have another Amex card with the same offer, but cruise is already paid off.

I cannot tell you specifically  about Carnival, but it did work for me last summer on Holland America by buying OBC. My understanding is that it would not work for those various packages.

That's what I did.  The Carnival offer on the website disappeared after I paid $350 each on my card and hubby's card.   But no confirmation email.

I supposed that since the offers disappeared it means they were used?

Did it work when you did that?  I don't really want to use my american express to pay $700 on my cruise.  But I will if I can get $150 out of it instead of $75!

You can only get the one $75 statement credit per card that has the offer loaded to it.

I get additional cards in my husbands and sons name on my American Express accounts so I can load the offer to their cards too and get the statement credit on their cards too. I’ve got one account with 2 additional card holders and another account with one, so I’ve been able to get the credit on 5 cards at a time if I need that many.

My last cruise I had an offer for $100 off of $500 from Amex, unfortunately it doesn't look like my card has this new offer available to me this time.

Same here.  And like the OP, our card is a Delta Skymiles card.

Is the offer only on certain Amex Cards?

As i posted early in the thread, I couldn't find this for my Wells Fargo Propel card since it was through WF, not AMEX directly.  But, eventually, I navigated my way to a link that took me through AMEX and back to the WF card benefits page, and there it was!  Loaded it to my card, made final payment a week or so later.  Didn't get any notification, but the $75 credit appeared in my transactions.

It's a pain to find this through WF!  Have to log in, go to your card account, find the "benefits" link, takes you to AMEX, try several links there, finally got one that took me back to WF to a different "offer" page.  Really convoluted.  I had to write down the steps so that in the future, I'll be able to find these offers!!

My husband is an additional card holder on my account.  I'll have to see if I can figure out how to add it onto his.  Thanks!!!

You have to set his card up with his own online account and then it’s just like adding it to your own card.

Check your AMEX offers again - one popped up this morning for $75 of $350!  This time it's Carnival only, valid until 8/19/19...  I have one of the Delta cards.

How'd you get this on an AMEX Delta card? I have a Delta Skymiles card that I'm seriously thinking about cancelling because it has so few offers I'm interested in, among other things. There's even a Delta offer on flights that's NOT on the Skymiles card 🤷‍♀️. If Delta won't even put offers on their own branded card, what's the point of having it? I get travel offers on my Amex Blue, not on the Delta Skymiles.

It showed up on it's own this time...  I had a Delta offer on the card too, but it was only for very specific markets.

I THINK the offers are somewhat targeted based on past card use.  At least my Chase Visa cards are.  I recently adopted a dog and made several purchases at PetSmart and Petco - now the majority of my Chase offers have something to do with pets!
