Who goes on a vacation to watch TV.  Except for the Super Bowl that was on the big screen, I don't think we have ever turned the TV on

I don’t think anybody said they want to sit in their cabin all day and watch TV. Some like to watch something when they turn in for the evening. Different strokes for different folks. I load movies and TV series on my IPad to enjoy. Is that also unacceptable?

When were you people seeing all these World Series games, Super Bowls, etc in your rooms? I sailed on RCL in mar/apr of 2017 and I didn’t see no ncaa games in my room.

not sure the date, but several years ago all the networks were on in the cabins

I remember watching a College Football game in my cabin on Carnival, many years ago. I loved the offerings on Princess this year.  Live news and on demand TV- including the Love Boat.  I watch sports on television and am not sure if I want to miss a game....jury is still out in whether I will sail with the ‘new’ tv offerings.

Even before the “new” tv offerings you weren’t getting major games in your room for the last umpteen years.

It’s been a LONG time since I sailed.

You guys may have missed where I said, "Obviously we don't cruise to watch TV..." but it would have been nice to have something for my young daughter to watch while I was getting ready for dinner....or when she's already sleeping and we're stuck in the room.

As for the comment about the port blocking...it's actually take more work on their part to block that HDMI port than to just leave it open for people to use. It's not a matter of it being broken, it's been intentionally turned off.

I don't comment on people gambling in the casino, being drunk and stupid by the pool, smoking, or wearing short shorts and flip flops in the dining room because they don't affect my cruise for the most part, but personally I wouldn't do any of those things and find them a waste of time. Some people find it necessary to judge other people's manner in which they vacation.

They still have a couple cartoon network or Nickelodeon channels available for kids.

Yes the Miami stations for ABC CBS NBC were on the TV in the cabins but at the end of one year might have been 2017 the contract ran out and was not renewed.

When I vacation, I don't want to be stuck in a room and watch TV. Unfortunately, that happened a few times on our July trip. I cannot fall asleep without something on tv or my tablet. That is why I download the 5 or 6 movies that put me to sleep in minutes.

Just give me a boring black and white film and I'm in bed in no time😁

Our family cruises often and on various lines......RCCL/Norwegian/Carnival. Recently returned from the Breeze and I wanted to comment on the lack of stations to watch in staterooms. In the past few years, I have become used to having ESPN International and usually 2 news channels. I enjoy watching sports and have watched NCAA tournament games, football, NBA, Ryder Cup and baseball playoffs in the past.
Unfortunately, on the Breeze we only had access to CBS News channel (I've heard of Fox News and MSNBC, but never CBS News Network). No ESPN. No Fox Sports. Nothing. The US Women's World Cup final was not shown anywhere on the ship. For some reason, Wimbledon matches on ESPN were shown in the casino, but not in staterooms. How can they have an ESPN feed to show in public places, but not in Staterooms?
The news channel issue was just as concerning....never heard of CBS cable news network. Why cant Carnival give us CNN or FOX or MSNBC?

My guess.....money. There obviously is a cost to providing those networks to staterooms and Carnival opts not to pay it.

I may upset some Carnival fans with this post and I would like to know if there is a history to which channels are offered or other explanations for the low number of channels. (but please don't say that a person should be on vacation and not want to watch news or sports)

I have to agree with you.....more options should be available with satellite service, but likely cost cutting measures......

The on demand worked fine for a movie, but we only had CNN.....I like the news and the wife used to catch CBSA once in awhile.......

as far as the room we only take an afternoon break and then to bed late......

The only option is to buy the top internet package and hope to stream stuff....but that's not a quarenette......

Are you talking about a cruise since restart? If so I'm surprised you were able to watch CNN. Carnival went to full streaming TV service before the pandemic and severely limited the number of TV stations. The only news station was CBSN, no CNN, Fox, MSNBC, HNN, no other news service. The problem with CBSN is they only broadcast 15 minutes of news. Then it repeats the sane news stories over and over.

Of all my cruises, I never once checked the channels for anything.  Good to know though and thanks for sharing.  I do watch sports in the bars on the ship so maybe that is why they do that.  So people spend money in the bars and casino.

I get a balcony cabin because I WANT to sit there, see the ocean, watch a little TV, relax, maybe nap.....to do whatever TF I want

Not everyone likes to sit in a bar to watch TV. Maybe I am rooting for the other team and want to cheer in private?

***** do you care?

Relaxing to me is sitting and reading my ipad, looking at the TV and ocean at the same time.

I live in Florida, I avoid the sun.

You have heard of Fox News and CNN but never heard of CBS? Are you twenty? When I grew up, there were only three channels. ABC, CBS and NBC. You only got ABC if your TV was equipped to pick up those station and ours didn't so I grew up with only CBS and NBC.

First world problems.

Good to know, we will need to make sure that the tablets have movies pre-loaded or bring our travel DVD player for the littles to watch at nap/bed times.

CBSN is not "CBS News" as you know it or anything like the 24 hour cycle news channels.

It is a quick snippet broadcast of the same thing over and over and over....the world could be on fire, and CBSN would be showing a piece on bunnies and sunshine.

It's fluff, not news

No cutback there. Networks priced themselves out of the market. Carnival went with a different TV package. They can add whatever they want to pay extra for, but no point in raising cruise fares to satisfy a few passengers.

Going back even farther, Carnival had offices in Colorado Springs and would run the local Denver news channels. We were entertained on one spring break Caribbean cruise by watching a snowstorm happening in Denver.
