Glad to hear you made the most of your cruise, Kim. I'm sure it was a different cruise. I'll look forward to reading all about it when you have a chance. Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🎄

Heather

It was definitely a different type of cruise for me. I'm just so used to being so active, but I did manage to squeeze in a surprise. 😉

Merry Christmas to you and Kim as well. 🎄

It has been awhile since I've been on the CC boards so catching up on the reviews from some of my favorite reviewers. Enjoyed reading your review as always and hated to hear about your fall!  Those pictures were painful to looks at but glad you are on the road to recovery now! Now on to read your Christmas cruise review!

Harvest Caye was super nice! We really enjoyed ourselves there that day. I personally would highly recommend visiting it. I know it's a commercialized man made place designed to sucker cruisers into donating more money to the cruise lines, but I personally don't mind spending a day here and there on a cruise in a beautiful place like this. Just like I enjoy going to the cruise lines private islands like Great Stirrup Cay or Half Moon Cay. It's a nice change to go somewhere really nice and enjoy everything and not be hassled by the vendors or paying to get to a nice beach or resort. We really enjoyed this. Is it for everyone? Of course not and those that don't enjoy a break from visiting other countries that might be poverty stricken or begging for money can always book an excursion away from the island. But that's just my opinion of the island...it's gorgeous!

Ok, I'm stopping for the night. My pain has been creeping up and the numbness is getting bad at the moment. Time for some meds and some rest. If tonight is anything like the last 2 nights, I'll be up in a couple hours, not being able to sleep, and may continue with more of the review.

I hope everyone is still enjoying it.

Good night. ❤️

Completely agree, Kim.  Only downside is that the Ocean there is yucky!  Pool is amazing though!

Well for those of you that have been not only following my reviews, but the dilemma with my foot...I revived some bad news this morning.

I am very grateful that I'm no longer in a wheelchair and up walking around these days. I'm still having a lot of pain and difficulty with my ambulation. I also can not walk far distances without a lot of swelling and increased pain. I have battled it out with my ortho and according to them, I should not be having this pain and they will no longer give me any pains meds (cut off last Nov) and said this is the last time they would give me any nerve meds (which does nothing for the pain but does help with the constant tingling and feeling of my foot always being asleep).

My primary care doctor has been amazing and a great advocate for me. She has done test and gave me meds to help control the pain. Yesterday she sent me to get a MRI due to the continued pain.

The findings was not what I wanted to hear, but at least it gave me answers.

Findings of a sprained ligament, a fragment of the bone appears to not be in place or lined up, swelling was also found. So now she is referring me to a foot and ankle specialist. If you remember, when I first hurt my ankle/leg and had surgery, my ortho doctor said I would be 1) up and walking at 8 weeks (even after a second surgery for the infection and the blood clots) and 2) I would be having a third surgery in December to remove the hardware on the right side and also the 2 screws fusing my tib/fib together. December came and gone and they said they would not be removing the screws but yet there's a chance they could break under stress!!! Remember my neighbor and my son in law that both had this done and both were told DO NOT apply any pressure to the foot until these screws are removed!! They were also told if the screws broke, it would be an extensive surgery to remove them (going in both sides of the foot again) and very painful. UGH! I was up and walking at 8 weeks and doing physical therapy with a lot of pressure applied, especially in directions that my foot/ankle just doesn't bend because of the screws.

So....here I am. Not knowing what's next for me. 😞

Oh, Kim, what horrible news to receive after all this time. I'm sorry to hear this and that you still have so much pain. I'm glad your primary care doc is taking this seriously and I really hope you get this sorted out soon. Thinking of you. 😥

Thanks. I just know that I'm a very slow healer...with just about anything. But, I also figured I should not still be in this type of pain. I'm so lucky to have a great PCP who goes to the extreme to make sure I'm taken care of.

I'm so sorry for more bad news and that your ordeal continues to cause problems and pain for you. I sure hope the specialist can help you find a solution and relief!!

I do too. I'm still waiting to hear from them for an appointment but hopefully I'll get some answers and figure out where to go from here.

Same here. Thanks for the hugs. I appreciate it. You guys are the greatest.

What an ordeal you’ve been through.  Ugh.
I’m glad your primary care doctor has been great at least.  Sorry for what you’re going through-especially the unknown.

Yea, it feels like it's never going to end. 😞   Hopefully I'll get answers soon.

Our plane was on time and Sakari always has to touch the plane before getting on for good luck.

Tell Sakari I do the same thing. I kiss my hand and tap the fuselage three times for Safe Travels

I hate to tell you this but if the foot and ankle specialist is saying you need another surgery you are going to have a long wait.  They have cancelled all surgeries for the foreseeable future unless it's immediately life threatening.

My surgery to place an implant in my neck to force my vocal cord over so that I can regain my voice (I do have some but very weak and limited) and swallowing abilities was cancelled for next week.  They also are about to cancel my radiation for thyroid cancer because of the COVID-19 crisis.

I sure hope this all gets cleared up soon but it's not looking good.  We have a cruise booked for July 24 Boston to Bermuda which hope can happen but...

No worries, I'm more than aware of this. I have not received a call for any appointments from my referrals from weeks ago and I know it's because they are only seeing sick patients and those in need. I didn't expect any surgery soon and I haven't been told I will need another or know what the plan will be until I do get a chance to see a specialist after this is all over with.

I hope this all blows over soon and you are able to get your surgery. I hope everything turns out good for you and a speedy recovery.

On another note, we are going on somewhat of a lockdown for our state at 11:59pm tomorrow. Hopefully this will help.
