Refer-A-Friend, Group discount

So, I plan to book 5 cabins for couples on a Princess cruise next fall. How does the Refer-A-Friend process work. I know that I give an email address for each party member, but how are those connected to the cabins that I purchase?

Also, what discount percentage does Princess offer for booking 5 cabins?

I've read multiple thread about the subjects but could not ever find the logistics behind the refer-a-friend or the discount available.

Thank you in advance for any information.

Each person that receives the refer a friend email from you (Princess) will click on the link to validate.

It will then show up in your Captains Circle account as a pending $25 credit pending sailing.

It will be on their account too.

You do not get the credit until they sail.

It will show up as OBC for $25 per under payments and credits for the sailing that it is applied to.

Not sure there is any discount for 5 cabins.  The serious perks start with 8 cabins

I was told I had to book at least 8 cabins to get any discount or perks. I only had 5 so I just ended up all of them under the Three for Free promotion last year. Then my agent gave me a little back.

This has nothing to do with refer a friend.

This is taken directly from Princess 'Refer-a-friend' details:

Both you and the person you refer will receive a $25 onboard spending credit each when referred person sails on any Princess cruise within 24 months of activation. You may use your onboard spending credit on any voyage within 24 months after the referred person has sailed on his/her first cruise with Princess or you may use your credit during the referred person's first cruise if you are sailing on the same voyage. Referral Rewards are onboard spending credits applied to the stateroom account at time of booking and will become active upon the completion of the referred guest's first cruise. You may refer as many people as you wish and receive onboard spending credits for each. These credits can be accrued in your account on an unlimited basis and used on any future cruise at up to 5 onboard spending credits ($125 per person/$250 per stateroom) per cruise. We're unable to accept any referrals for past or current Princess customers, so be sure you only refer those who haven't booked with Princess, haven't completed the referral process in the past or have not requested to be removed from Princess Cruises email communications. Offer is applicable to two guests per booking only and is not combinable with Friends & Family, travel industry partner or Interline rates.

Earn a maximum of one $25 onboard spending credit per successful referral. A maximum of two $25 onboard spending credits may be activated per referral booking. In other words, if you refer 4 people who sail in the same stateroom, only 2 will qualify to activate your reward. The other 2 must sail again or in their own stateroom to activate your reward. Anyone under 21 years old, travel industry partners, immediate family members of travel industry partners, and employees of Princess (including Carnival Corporation) are not eligible to refer or be referred under this program.

True ... but the OP also asked about what discounts might be available for booking 5 cabins ... as per the thread title.

I've referred a lot of friends and family before ... we each get $25.  If you refer a couple, they still each get $25 and so you will receive $50.....even if you are in the cabin with them.  Keep in mind, cannot have had anyone refer them in the past and they must not have sailed on Princess before.

Also, be sure to refer them BEFORE any booking has taken place.  Then, when you book and when they book, the referral is all listed under each respective Princess account ... they will have and you will have a referral number that can attached that referral for all these bookings.  This can be referenced through Princess or any travel agent ... just be sure to mention it when you book (and tell your friends the same).

Walker,  as just posted above,  you need to refer these people NOW. Once any booking has been made, (or possibly any account with Princess is set up) then these would be existing customers, and not considered a new referral.   We made that mistake once when we booked before putting in for the new referral. Too bad!  It wouldn't have been that much money in our case.  But if you have all these travelers who have never cruised with Princess before, you don't want to miss that amount of money.

Yes for sure!  Forgot to mention that part, very important.  😉

It depends how many Amenity Points are available on that sailing for a new group .

The Group organizer (TC) selects amenities from a list .

Also a 1 guest cruise fare (less taxs and port) refunded  for every 8 cabins,  (dbl occ), usually , that sail.

The Group Allotment of categories must be blocked in advance .

A Good Cruise Specialist TA can do this all for you, for free .

"for free" ? - would that person pass on all amenities to the group , and a 8-12% discount, at least to the group ?

TA's receive their pay from the cruise  line .

Amenities are per cabin and negotiated with the Group organizer (TC) .

It is up to the TA if they wish to further discount the Group Rate as Princess permits TA's to Discount those rates if they wish to?

Not all TA's will so shop around for a Good Cruise Specialist working with a big agency., but don't expect near 12% of the cruise fare.

With my PCP these are 2 separate bonuses. Refer-A-Friend = 25 OBC each.  5 cabins = another OBC from 50-60 each. 8 cabins = 1 free person (or is it stateroom? I'm a solo)
