Hello everyone, ive just joined. Im looking to book my first cruise, but I dont have a partner ,and was wondering if there were any cruise lines that specialise in singles, or organise stuff to do on board, to bring people on there own together, and the most important thing, are there any that dont charge a supplement. Thanks for all you help. Im prepared to go to any destination, i dont mind getting a flight to the port, but i am only one hour from Southampton.Thank you all .....Sorry for all the questions, but i really am a complete novice....lol..

There's another section related to cruising solo that will have some info - https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/279-solo-cruisers/

Just as a tip - don't look purely at lack of solo supplement or solo cabins.  NCL has some ships with Studio cabins, I'm sailing one in a little less than a week but found that when airfare was factored in it only cost me $60 more to sail in a balcony because of the perks and reduced airfare cost through NCL.

Royal Caribbean also has Studio cabins on some ships, both inside and balcony, but those balcony ones go FAST (you need to book almost the day the bookings open).

I would say that the inside studio cabins are about equal on both those lines (comparing Royal's Anthem and NCL's Bliss) but NCL won with the lounge that is open to JUST solo travelers in the Studio cabins.  There is also a meet in the lounge just before dinner that is open to all solos (with a door propped open).  During that meet the solo host will organize activities (group laser tag, go-karts, theater shows) and arrange getting people to dinner.

As a first time cruiser a call to a good travel agent can help you sort things out.

Check P&O's larger ships, which all have single cabins, and have various get togethers, especially at afternoon tea.

Fred Olsen has some cruises which offer no single supplements, as do Cruise and Maritime; both of these sail from various ports round the UK.

The new Saga ship has the most single cabins, I think it's 105, all with a balcony, on their brand new ship.

All, except C&M sail from Southampton; C&M out of Tilbury and other ports.

I'm in my mid-50s and single, and I agree to check out the Solo Cruisers board.   If you're looking for solo deals on supplements, you can look at each line directly, enlist the help of a travel agent, and/or look at cruiseplum.com, which is an information site (not a travel agent) that has a page just for solos, but doesn't include all lines.  My personal choice for cruising solo is Crystal, because it's virtually all-inclusive and has solo supplements for window cabins at 30% on virtually all voyages (not just the odd ones on sale).

Good morning, I am 61 and have been sailing solo for 16 years. I don't look at the "single supplement" but rather, the

total price of the cruise and if that amount is within my price point (budget).  I understand cruise lines want 2 people in the cabin and they will charge what they charge. I love cruising---and I also agree with checking out the solo forum on here. You can get some very helpful information from quite a few solo cruisers!
