I believe that hamrag was just kidding about having 20 miniatures in plastic bags to get through the security (in the way you have to put all liquids, which must be less than 100mls, in bags.) I see that hamrag has responded by saying his comment was a tongue-in-cheek one, which is how I understood it at the time. I understood that Hamrag was kidding but my question about the customs was still a serious question. I don't want to pack any bottles in my checked luggage so I'm never over the limit when flying but I don't really think about how much I'm allowed to bring because I never see any staff when passing the customs at Arlanda. If Brexit will mean that we are allowed to buy taxfree liquor at Heathrow that may change...! It's incorrect to say that all liquids must be put in plastic bagS. Only one bag is allowed, as I'm sure you know.

Not only do my kids eat the Pringles, we would save a couple of cans and bring them with us when we went ashore. Since we do not buy food on shore, it was nice to have the Pringles to tide us over if we were gone all day, through lunch. Now we won't have that little extra. Were we abusing the system, and the cause of this downgrade? Who knows...? Thank you for your on topic post. No you were not abusing the system. You are fully entitled to eat the snacks at your discretion.

Where have you been able to bring more than one plastic bag with liquids? I looked at the rules on Arlanda outside Stockholm and it's very clear that only one 1 litre bag with liquids is allowed. My husband asked if the 3 bottles could be exchanged for rum and was told no. So we left the 3 untouched in frig. We did eat some of the nuts and they were not replenished 2 times a day. In fact, we had to ask on day 2 after we had eaten them if they would please replenish them. We left the empty cans on the counter so they could not miss the fact that they were empty and were still ignored. I am guessing the housekeeping personnel has a lot to do with ones personal experience. Obviously it did not spoil our trip but I had read on these boards all these wonderful experiences and that is not always the case for everyone. Also, not once during the 2 weeks did anyone offer to bring a drink to our cabin. My husband went to TSL and got our drinks. This was okay with us but again not what I had read on here. Service seems to be so variable on MSC - even in Yacht Club. We were in Seaside YC in Sept. I asked for extra bottles of gin in mini-fridge and there was no problem. There seems to be very little standard in their standards of service. I still enjoy YC and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

General courtesy would dictate that one doesn't hijack a thread with off-topic discussions. Feel free to contribute your experiences related to the thread topic. I came to this thread when I saw the topic because I am looking at the idea of trying out MSC. I've been lurking on other threads where people are reporting their experiences as well, including @Beamafar.

We were also on the Seaside for two weeks in October and had the exact opposite experience. The butler handles this and they couldn't have been more accommodating (we had a different butler the second week as the original one went on vacation). The mini fridge was stocked with only what we wanted and we never ran out. Not only did they both offered to bring specialty drinks to the cabin, from any bar on the ship, but also offered to get us drinks when he escorted us to the theater for the shows.
