Blueskiesahead Posted November 30, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2019 How much bottled water can I get at one time on the CBP, and is the Celebrity branded water purified or spring? Is the bottled water only available at the bars or cafe, or can I order from room service using my CBP? I drink a lot of water and am considering upgrading to the PBP for Evian. Seems silly to upgrade when I drink only water and really good coffee/tea all day, but I think it would be worth it given how much I consume. Maybe Celebrity will let me downgrade the CBP to a Premium non-alcoholic plan? However, my husband would want to keep his CBP, and I think both adults have to have the same plan. Rare Host Anne Posted November 30, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2019 You can only get one bottle of water at a time per passenger. I just disembarked Equinox today. There was no "Celebrity" branded water on our cruise. It was a spring water bottled by a company I've never heard of or Evian that we received. No aluminum canned water on our cruise, either (thank goodness....I didn't care for it at all). We had the Premium package. On Edge, we had aluminum canned water that was in a Celebrity-branded can. Nothing like that on Equinox.
micheleata Posted November 30, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2019 (edited) I posted a picture of 2 of the different waters that were handed out during our cruise in October. Usually they will give you 1 at a time, but I just grab one at every bar we pass.. Especially if on the way back to the room...I kind of stock pile them in there. We were given 2 each twice when we were getting off the ship in ports. You cannot get them from room service for free. If you are worried about not getting enough you could bring a reusable bottle and fill it in the buffet 24/7. The water there is really good. I drink a ton of water, about 20 or more of those bottles a day, and never have a problem getting them. You can get them every where... cafe boccio, aqua spa cafe, theater before shows, buffet, casino and every bar. Edited to add this was the Equinox. As for water on Equinox, there was a Florida spring water on the Classic Plan. Enough said. The water in the pitcher in the room and from the dispensers in the Oceanview Cafe were better tasting in my opinion.
HeddaGarbled Posted December 1, 2019 #8 Share Posted December 1, 2019 With the CBP, you can get a bottle of water (unbranded) alongside another drink, so we got in the habit of asking for water every time we got a coffee or alcoholic drink, for each of us, and stockpiled as suggested above. Also, we would get a couple of bottles (one per person) whenever we were passing a bar. My husband (who gets migraines so needs to drink a lot of water) would nip up to the pool bar with my card as well as his a few times a day and stock up. Most servers were happy to give him 3 or 4 bottles on the 2 cards when he wasn’t getting anything else. If you’ve completely run out, water and ice are dispensed from machines in the buffet in plastic tumblers that can be taken back to your cabin, or carried about the ship.
Carried_Away Posted December 1, 2019 #9 Share Posted December 1, 2019 (edited) Celebrity does not require passengers in the same cabin to have the same beverage package, so you could switch to the premium non-alcoholic even if your husband wants a package that includes alcohol. (If you get a beverage package as a perk included in your fare, you both have to choose the same perk. But once you have the beverage package in that scenario, either of you can upgrade or downgrade your package independently of the other.) Officially, Celebrity’s rule is that you can’t switch from the classic package received as a perk to premium non-alcoholic for free; they will allow you to downgrade to classic non-alcoholic, and then they want you to pay the cost to upgrade from classic non-alcoholic to premium non-alcoholic, which is $4.80/day including the gratuity. But if you ask the right person, you might get lucky and get the switch for free. I have seen different sizes of Evian bottles (and Perrier/Pellegrino) on different cruises, and at different bars on the same sailing. Sometimes 1-liter bottles have been available and have been covered by my premium package. So if you do go with premium, you might ask if the ship/bar has large bottles. Beverage packages do not include room service. Edited December 1, 2019 by Carried_Away
gschwartz001 Posted December 1, 2019 #10 Share Posted December 1, 2019 I will be sailing on the Summit later this moth. Does anyone know if the Summit still has the large liter bottles of Evian in plastic or just glass? Trying to figure out if I need to carry water on as I take those on tours when I leave ship. Thanks.
PelicanLvr Posted December 1, 2019 #11 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Large bottles were no longer available on Summit in January 2019. They used to be and mostly solved this issue of getting enough water. But alas, (like many good things on X) they are no more. Suggest you make friends with a server you see regularly somewhere and talk to them. They know what the "system" allows them to do for you. A few $$$ spread around to them won't hurt your cause either.
Rare cruisestitch Posted December 1, 2019 #12 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Could you tell if they simply ran out of the large bottles or if they had discontinued offering them?
happy cruzer Posted December 1, 2019 #13 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Yes, each person in the cabin can have a different package. Wow, seems like alot of plastic being used. I thought the lines were changing over to reuseble containers for water except for excursion use. Hope you find your solution.

Rare cruisestitch Posted December 1, 2019 #16 Share Posted December 1, 2019 Since the Apex isn’t even built yet, no one will be able to tell you now what you will receive on that ship. As you can tell from this thread, the waters that are loaded onto each ship very by itinerary, by class of ship, by what is available, probably price is a factor too. I hope it's the small Evian 500 ml. bottles as safer to take off shore even for use on board in public areas.

Seems much easier than lugging a bunch of bottles onboard.
paighdrow Posted December 1, 2019 #19 Share Posted December 1, 2019 On our recent Edge cruise we were able to get multiple bottles of water per person at each bar visit. Often we would get a water in addition to a adult libation. We kept a reasonable stockpile in the cabin — which came in very handy.

Right, and also the glass bottles would be heavy to carry around when in port.

As others have mentioned, On Edge I noticed a number of people ask for 2 bottles of water and were given them without question. That's good to know as some of the shore excursions are a full day and not all tour operators provide water. Thank you.

Thanks. When I was on the Summit a few weeks ago, I didn’t see any liter bottles of Evian. There were 500 mL bottles and smaller bottles, all plastic. If it’s important to you to have Evian, I suggest stopping at a bar before leaving the ship for excursions. Only the non-premium water (the True brand in one of the photos above) was available at the gangway in ports.
SHIP TRAVELER Posted December 3, 2019 #24 Share Posted December 3, 2019 Beware of the cardboard bottles for shore excursions. One of the premium airline lounges uses them and they collapse and leak badly in a back pack soaking everything. For as many reasons as plastic bottles are bad sometimes they are the ticket. GateGuardian Posted December 4, 2019 #25 Share Posted December 4, 2019 (edited) I was on the Reflection last month and was able to get the 1L Evian. They had to go to back to get it though. It was almost as hard to find as Redbull! Edited December 4, 2019 by GateGuardian add sentence
