TennisCruiser62 Posted January 7, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2020 Any suggestions on what to do with luggage after a cruise docking at the Port of Miami? We don't fly out of Fort Lauderdale Airport until late afternoon and we wanted to find something to do inbetween. Suggestions?? Thank you.

We recently used DayUse who specialise in booking day rooms worldwide. We had use of a room for 6 hours where we left our cases and spent time exploring San Francisco. Merion_Mom Posted January 7, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2020 Or rent a car and lock your luggage in the trunk as you enjoy Fort Lauderdale or Miami.

Check and see if your airline and flight qualify for the Luggage Valet program.

Tulsacoker Posted January 8, 2020 #12 Share Posted January 8, 2020 We just booked a Hotel for sunday night (Doubletree ) in Miami and changed or flight to Monday noon out FLL to accommodate. Saw it as a win/win to spend a full day in Miami

We purposely schedule our flight home for late afternoon or evening so we can go to Fort Lauderdale, eat on Las Olas, and hang out in the warm weather before heading back to "winter". RG306 Posted January 8, 2020 #14 Share Posted January 8, 2020 We used daycation after our last cruise and it was such a great way to end the trip.
TennisCruiser62 Posted January 9, 2020 Author #15 Share Posted January 9, 2020 Thanks all for the great suggestions. Looks like Luggage Valet is not available for Symphony of the Seas (Miami), so I will look into DayUse and Daycation. I'm from Calif and right now leaving anything in the car invites breakin's. Especially if the crooks can spot a rent-a-car. Terrible right?
Rare cruiselvr04 Posted January 10, 2020 #16 Share Posted January 10, 2020 Hotels by day is another source. We’ve used day use in Fort Lauderdale before and plan to again in April. We book a cheaper evening flight and enjoy one more day of vacation. Last time we rented a car, and had a nice lunch in Lauderdale by the Sea but the hotels rooms are even better allowing you to nap, shower, etc before an evening flight. I look at it as the cost of an excursion for another day. It sure beats sitting at the airport.
Rare MandyMooToo Posted January 10, 2020 #17 Share Posted January 10, 2020 (edited) Where can I find information on luggage valet? We are flying into FLL but cruising out of Miami and will have a late flight home. I would love to use this service if it is available to us. Edit: Never mind, I see that it is not offered at the Port of Miami and only on 7 night sailings (ours is a 6 night). ammnaustin Posted January 12, 2020 #23 Share Posted January 12, 2020 FLL airport has a baggage valet service on the first floor near baggage claim. They charge $5 a bag. On our Dec. 2019 cruise we took a Lyft to FLL, used this service, then took a Lyft to the beach for the day before flying out early evening. Worked out pretty well for an additional beach day!
