BandBWCsmom Posted January 15, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2020 Hi! New to RCL after three cruises on CCL. I was exploring the ship online and getting excited for our March trip when I noticed that in the Windjammer description it says "Fully covered shoes and shirts required" Does that mean no flip flops? I'm fine with wearing a full swimsuit cover-up so the shirt thing - no problem! Other than to dinner, flip flops is my go-to cruise/resort wear. Please let me know as closed-toe shoes were not on the packing list. Thanks!
Tulsacoker Posted January 15, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2020 (edited) I've seen plenty of flip flops in the WJ.. shirts are required.... but seen plenty of tank tops. if pretty relaxed especially for breakfast and lunch Edited January 15, 2020 by Tulsacoker

DustFSU Posted January 15, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 15, 2020 They might be stating you can’t be barefoot 🤷♂️ 1
palmettostatecruiser Posted January 15, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 15, 2020 I think they forgot a comma after fully covered - ' fully covered, shoes and shirts required'; meaning no bathing suits without coverup, shirts required for men and no bare feet. I've worn and seen others plenty of times with flip flops in the WJ
Diver2014 Posted January 15, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 15, 2020 I think I was the only person in the WJ today at lunch that DIDN’T have on flip flops and a bathing suit cover. They need to put a comma after ‘fully covered’ as someone mentioned. 1
The Fun Researcher Posted January 15, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 15, 2020 The VAST majority of times I've been in the WJ, I've had sandals on. No worries. Dan
Zach1213 Posted January 15, 2020 #9 Share Posted January 15, 2020 I regularly sit by the pool in the morning and then head in to Windjammer to grab lunch and bring it back out to my chair...never have I ever put on "real" shoes to do so.
kag19 Posted January 15, 2020 #10 Share Posted January 15, 2020 The only times we go in the WJ is during the day when we have flip flops on. You will have no issues!
Milwaukee Eight Posted January 15, 2020 #11 Share Posted January 15, 2020 Only place I have seen this has been on either a Galley or ships tour. It wasn’t enforced.
Rare Itchy&Scratchy Posted January 15, 2020 #12 Share Posted January 15, 2020 lol, people were mostly in flip flops and bathing suits in WJ last April. Heck, I saw a dude in swimming shorts and a t-shirt at MDR on a formal night.

Seen it in writing many many times, just that most never followed it or even read it. I can see no Suits without cover up, but Flip Flops are exceptable, long as not worn in Kitchen or other Tours. Many places dont allow Tank-tops in Rest, really see the reason in Buffet or WJ why shouldnt be worn Edited January 15, 2020 by ONECRUISER
biomedbob Posted January 15, 2020 #18 Share Posted January 15, 2020 Been chased twice because the ice machine outside wasn't working while being barefoot. Flip-Flops for over 20 years!
Rare mcatmcat Posted January 16, 2020 #19 Share Posted January 16, 2020 I only wear shoes during rock climbing - ice skating-gym and MDR
snl2000 Posted January 16, 2020 #20 Share Posted January 16, 2020 I barely even pack “fully-covered” shoes on a cruise. I wear slides all day most days and go to the windjammer most days.
