the_dylaness Posted January 27, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2020 My mom decided she would like to join us on our Equinox sailing next month. Some websites showing available rooms but no one seems to have them. Any ideas or options?
Rare Alsmez Posted January 27, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2020 Are the sites showing rooms TA sites? If so, they may be holding a block of rooms for a group - you might find a room that way. Contact the TA directly to see what is going on.
the_dylaness Posted January 27, 2020 Author #3 Share Posted January 27, 2020 Yes, I contacted both TAs showing availability and they said none...
Rare Alsmez Posted January 27, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2020 Have you checked on X's site directly? They may not show room availability but still allow you to purchase a guarantee.
Rare hcat Posted January 27, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2020 Have you called X...for waitlist or guarantee options?
sippican Posted January 27, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2020 (edited) TAs need to return unsold rooms back to the cruise line more than 30 days out so it's doubtful they would still be holding any unsold inventory. Did you try going on the roll call board to ask if anyone is thinking about canceling? Edited January 27, 2020 by sippican
the_dylaness Posted January 27, 2020 Author #7 Share Posted January 27, 2020 Thanks this is all helpful we will call X. Thanks!
Rare keesar Posted January 27, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2020 Be on the lookout for Guarantees and grab one. There should be cancellations, especially with the concerns with illnesses. Also, for our upcoming February cruise, they show no availability but we have been asked to bid on a suite. So there must be something being held back. Rare Jim_Iain Posted January 27, 2020 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2020 I would call Celebrity and/or your agent and ask to have her wait listed. If all else fails you might be able to add her to your room if there is no limitation on the room.
the_dylaness Posted January 28, 2020 Author #10 Share Posted January 28, 2020 Thank you for all the ideas! She called X and they said "all gone!" We can keep checking but I think she might just book something else instead. Appreciate the idea about adding to the room but not sure if me, hubby, and mom in a balcony sounds like much of a vacation 🙂

ipeeinthepool Posted January 28, 2020 #12 Share Posted January 28, 2020 Maybe a nice note to Celebrity one touch would help. Explain your situation and ask if there might be any rooms that are held back. They helped me out last year in a different "sold-out" situation.
Cruise a holic Posted January 28, 2020 #13 Share Posted January 28, 2020 You need to check/call Celebrity daily. As mentioned above, sometimes people must cancel. We once called a couple of days before a silhouette cruise that we booked a balcony cabin on, and a sky suite became available. This was before the move up program, we moved to the suite for a very reasonable amount-

Frequently members will post that they are cancelling.
Rare ladylemondrop Posted January 28, 2020 #16 Share Posted January 28, 2020 (edited) Also check Sea Scaner website daily, as it will show anything that has opened up. Good luck! Edited January 28, 2020 by louise1809
