Explorer drydock postponed

Dry dock is no longer postponed - she's in the dock now. Given the timing for Anthem, figure also about 3 weeks for Explorer.

Ever since late March, it's been the former, though they may address some real obvious issues as well.

It is not the AMP. It is only routine maintenance. I had to look all that up to determine if we were going to choose going on Explorer. We opted for Oasis instead because that is what my daughter wanted.

Would have taken this cruise if they did the AMP. It was the only reason we chose Oasis over this one.

Is it safe to assume without the AMP, the Diamond Lounge will remain in its current location on Deck 14 instead of the planned Connoisseur Club on Deck 5?  🍷

Can someone get word to them to spray a little liquid graphite in 9204 to the upper right corner, where it meets the ceiling?  It has a squeak!

 

Spent 2 nights on deck it was so annoying.

We were supposed to sail on Explorer in January 2020 but had to cancel. It was going to be a final farewell to the ship we knew in the more or less original Voyager-class layout. I hate what they are doing to the fitness centers on these ships when they "amp" them. Now maybe we'll get a second chance at Explorer at least. It's already too late for some of them, like Navigator. With all the new builds, I wish they would leave some of the older ships alone for those of us who like them, though I know we are in the minority, and business is business.

Maybe even once Explorer will get Amped eventually, it will be saved from having even more cabins squished in as the trend is now more space rather than less 😉

I totally agree! We liked all ships better before the „amplifikation“. This just stands for more crowds and more ugly looking ships with all the fun stuff for kids they add. Just a nice modernization without adding cabins, water slides, yellow jumping balls and other nonsense would be great for the nice older ships.

Looks like the dry dock will be a bit longer than 3 weeks.

Is she getting the new livery, same as Voyager? They need to paint her anyway, so this can't be a matter of much more costs so it wouldn't even count as a Amlpification 😉

She’s just going to be anchoring with the other ships on the south of the Uk

The three newly dry docked ships (Allure, Anthem and Explorer) are all together south of Poole. Apparently, Jewel doesn't qualify to hang with these three.
