Received refund on 6/19 for cancelled shore excursions and EZAir for Alaska cruise scheduled to sail on July 8th.  (Did not call Princess at all to inquire about the status - blind faith worked out this time).

Received today full refund on my credit card for May 30th. 2020, Alaska on Golden Princess round trip from San Pedro Ca.  I chose option 2 on April 14th.

Oh Happy Day's

There's still hope for all that are still waiting for refunds, good luck.

Happy for you --- unfortunately, I have lost faith in the Princess system.

Coral, I believe our May Alaska cruise was Pause 2 (April 14th) and our August Alaska cruise was Pause 3 (May 6th).

Where will I find the holding account information?

Thanks.

Karen

I will have to wait until I am home to look this up. You can't see the holding account - it is just used to hold non-cruise fare items and will transfer to your new booking since FCC can't go to taxes and fees. Or maybe someone will pipe in before I get home.

Thanks Coral, I appreciate it.  Since I have two bookings for 2021 I hope they don't decide on their own which booking they will apply funds.

Nice seeing everyone being refunded for July cruises and July expenses

Been waiting 97 days for March cancellations.🤬

Makes no sense to me either.  We were cancelled in April.  Hope your refund comes soon.

Ill have a stab at your second query- look in these FAQs

https://www.princess.com/plan/impacted-and-cancelled-cruises/

Of course they dont always do what they say and it may have changed.

stumbled across it looking for the holding account bit - I may post back if I find it.

EDIT   there is a chart in this post saying what " might" happen to refunds, ie that are put in the holding account.

Guess the only way to find out is to ring them.

Thanks for your post.  Unfortunately, the information listed really doesn't completely answer my question.  As for calling Princess, I would much rather rely on the first-hand information I have received from trusted folks on the Cruise Critic board.  My past dealings with the Princess reps has not been that great; I can call two times and get two different answers.  Thanks again for trying, I appreciate it.

Italy52:  On our Princess cancelled May 4, cruise, I chose Option 1 back on Pause one cancellation and was told our EZ air and Government Fees would be in a holding account.  No record of this holding account, but I had my receipts from the cruise it had been on as proof incase it suddenly went poof.

We have a Jan. 24, 2021, Australia/New Zealand  booked and after my request our TA recently sent me an updated invoice as some FCC that had been received was put on that and on a May 2, 2021, British Isles cruise.  Princess did this without my asking.

We had a Black Friday $1 deposit each on the Jan. 24th. cruise.

I saw the receipt had this odd payment on it besides the $2 we did pay.  It took me the longest time to figure out as there was no explanation from the TA she only sent the invoice.  The FCC was listed up in the body of the invoice already so I knew that it wasn't that.

Dawned on me yesterday that this is the sum of our EZ air and Government Fees off the May 4, 2020, cancelled cruise.

It was put on without my asking, but that is fine.  At least there is record of it now!  🤪

You may want to have new invoices sent as it may have been added to one of your cruises if you booked EZ air as well.

I don't have a lot of hope this Jan. 24th, will actually go for us Americans, but who knows.  Then maybe this

air and fees on this one will just move on over to the May 2, 2021 cruise if that one does cancel.

Our June 20 cruise to Alaska was cancelled by Princess before final payment. Our deposit was in the form of a FCD. We had booked restricted EZ Air and paid Princess the airfare cost last February. We weren't sure if we would get this money refunded or not. The airline has no record of our reservation so we were hopeful we would get a refund from Princess. We were pleased that we received a refund of the airfare from Princess back to our credit card yesterday. We also got our FCDs credited back to our Captain Circle accounts.

Can I file a dispute requesting that my gift cards be cancelled if Princess is not refunding gift cards? I know I'd lose $215 but could recoup 4000

Has anyone received a refund for the Ruby Princess to ALaska sailing May 23?

I cancelled March 19. I was in the ‘window’ of only forfeiting my deposit as a FCC and requested a refund back to my CC for the full balance.  It has now been 97 days since I cancelled it with no refund.

i was told it would be 60 days, then 60 business days then I was told they were refunding according to cruise date.  But I’ve seen many posts of cruise dates after mine that have already been received.

Ive sailed numerous cruises with a Princess and I’m at the point of saying no more cruise with them.

Not your sailing, but same timeframe and destination.  We cancelled March 16 for a May 19 cruisetour.  Now at 101 days and nothing.  A friend booked on our same sailing has heard nothing as well.  One person on our roll call was refunded early April, everyone else is still reporting no action.

Our cruise date was 24May2020, it was paid for last year, and we cancelled on 05March2020.   That's 111 days ago and no word from Princess.

Might help if you said which ship you were going on and if you booked direct or via a TA and what you have done so far - did you phone to cancel? completed an online refund request etc.  Have you looked at the  cancellation advisories and notices on princess site?

The cancellation advisories on princess site are not worth even being there. It says excursions refunded within 60 days. Well I’m at 98 days and still no progress.

Doesnt matter what ship you were on or how you booked, they are not refunding period.

They say say they have refunded 60% of bookings and they state going in date order.

Sorry BS. With latest round of cancellations that would mean they are processing at least into July if not later by now. However the rep I spoke to today said they are working on May sailings.

I also just got 2 refunds in, listed as originating 6/18/2020 from the card company, reaching my account 06/21/2020. The cruises in question are for dates April 25 and May 23.

Running total:

2/8 refunds, 1/8 FCC, 0/1 reimbursement, 0/1 EasyAir

Wecwere due to sail 16th May on Crown and realising that was not going to happen rebooked for 21st september on Island then Princess cancelled that too.  Has anyone received any communication or refunds on either of these.  My TA requested refund 18 May.  No response re excursions we had booked for first cruise so put in CC dispute for those and got that settled.  As we paid Princess through TA cannot lodge cc dispute for the 20k we are still owed.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know, they process deposit refunds for such a long time as full refunds for the cruise?

Or when it comes to deposit refund, processing is faster?

14 hours ago, aussielozzie18 said:

Deposit refunds definitely not faster.  Cancelled our August cruise on March 20 and still waiting for the deposit to be refunded for the 3 of us....  90 days so far.

In my experience - yes!

I cancelled a Jan '21 cruise on 15 May, received the $300 deposit back to my credit card on 1st June.

We are 'loyal to Royal' but wanted to give Princess a try as they were sailing in and out of our home port of Fremantle.

I don't think we will have a cruising season here in Aus this year and had read how long Princess was taking with the refunds so thought I would get the refund process underway early as I expected it to take several months.  Was pleasantly surprised to be wrong.

If they do end up cruising here early next year we can always just re-book it but my husband isn't at all keen.

Princess and Royal do seem similar in that, the first one or two round of cancellations are taking so much longer to process and the later cancellations are being processed alot quicker - certainly has been like that over on the Royal boards anyway.

Best wishes to anyone still waiting on refunds.  I'm still chasing up a bit of money from Royal on my friend's booking.  It's exhausting and depressing and will be a relief when it can finally be filed away and forgotten about.  Hope your refunds come soon!
