Thank you, my first look at this thread. One of the other threads I was following was giving me a headache this morning 😉

No prizes for which one then. Hopefully the nice people over here will cheer you up and the bonus is Graham's back with food and drink and Kalos has the jokes back on track.

Welcome. Better late than never!😊This thread contributed to getting us through the last three or so years, knowing that when times got tough, there was always a virtual friend to raise the mood. Again, thanks to Host Sharon and Cruise Critic for allowing it to happen 👍

Hope it wont be the last.

Pete 14 has put it in a nutshell.  Everybody was here for lockdown and is still my 'place to go' with my morning tea.

Look out for Kalos's wise words (?) in the morning.  Better than any tonic🤣

Why wait until tomorrow 😉

A wise man once said:. . . .

If you understand why pizza is made round, packed into a square box and eaten as a triangle

Then my friends, you’ll understand why that thread gave Dobbers a headache .🙃

Long may it continue. Even after the initial 3 years this thread is still an important part of this forum.

Well we had a lovely week on the MSC Euribia Yacht Club (live from 3 November on cc if you are interested) then came up the the Lake District on the way back home which has been equally nice (if very much wetter).

We have done some scenic long walks, excellent Christmas shopping and amazing meals here. The highlights were the alternative afternoon tea at the Wild Boar and lunch at the Old Stamp House in Ambleside which was really excellent and fully deserves its Michelin star. Highly recommend them both if you are in this area (but not the Gilpin which was pretty poor and overpriced imho).

Lovely people here and some nice ales to slake the thirst after lots of walking.

We also visited the Quaker Tapestry museum which was fascinating. If you haven’t been, make a point of seeing it.

ps did a family history for OH and he comes from this area about 5 generations back. So while I am a Scot going back forever, he has a background in the Lakes which is nice,

That sounds like it could be fun.   How was it 'alternative'

I'm wondering if it was a full English at 3 o'clock🤣

More savoury than sweet afternoon tea.

So soup, beef sliders, monk fish tail, savoury chicken, smoked salmon etc with apple sauce, damson, mustard mayo. then delicious scones with smoked butter, homemade jam and clotted cream, chocolate brownies and lemon meringue.

A pot of tea but also a beer plank with 3 locally brewed ales all included.

Morning all, my fitbit tells me that I managed 6hrs 59 mins sleep so a really good night for me.  It is currently 3°c so cold with blue skies with pink streaks.

We are trying to get back to "normal" so have booked lunch at our favourite restaurant for lunch today.

Have a good day whatever you are doing.

Morning all a bright 4.c here today .Aint technology wonderful , thigs that can tell you how long you have been a sleep ?   I still work to the old fashion way of squinting at a clock trying to work out what time I fell asleep..

I get to know if it's cool as Mrs K  let me know my arm was freezing as I must have slept with it out of the bed this morning .

I then reached for my phone and gave the heating a boost so I got up to a cosy house .

Reading this back I cannot help but think what would our (people of my age ) grand parents make of all this techno stuff ? Some of us sleeping with a fit bit , our kids saying they only want an apple for Christmas, which they wont eat but spend many happy hours playing with it .

Then there's me laid in bed turning our heating on with a phone ?

Thats enough rambling from me ,have a good weekend folks .🙂

Good morning, bright and cold. Waiting for the gas engineer. Went out shopping yesterday morning returned at 12.30 to a cold house. Turned the thermostat up, no response., ran the hot water tap, boiler fired up, hot water and cold radiators. Phoned BG, no appointments until this morning. Luckily we have an  electric fire so that came out. At about 5.30pm I heard the boiler and the radiators were getting warm, all good since then. i haven't cancelled the engineer as something is obviously wrong, probably the thermostat. Got to have a reliable heating system for the winter.

Morning all,I've been up since 5.30 to watch the Las Vegas GP.1st practise cancelled due to a loose manhole cover. That's high tech for you, lol.

Saw a headline this morning that the Las Vegas GP had been cancelled due to a loose manhole cover and imagined that there was a queue of people missing their medical appointments because of a problem in the road.

Did produce a giggle at ourselves when we saw your post!

Oh what a wonderful morning oh what a wonderful day, its a bit nippy but the sky is that lovely clear dark blue. I got up at 05:00 this morning and made a brew, I can't remember the last time I did that or woke up and couldn't nod off again, I find counting my money helps no end in getting me off to sleep.

I am that pleased with myself I threatened to put the heating on. We have friends coming over today so a proper roast dinner and my speciality; apple and blackberry crumble for dinner.

Yesterday I went for my dressing removed, the wound has healed up nicely and no sign of infection, it was great to have a shower without being trussed up in clingfilm, I know some people have strange fetishes but I don't think wrapping myself in clingfilm quite does it for me. I can get my kicks from cruising. I might have a crack at that fur coat and no knickers that everyone is raving about.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning everyone,

Looks like we might have a nice sunny day as their is very little cloud in the sky, although cooler of late we are still in double figures and we haven't turned our heating hasn't been turned yet.

Took plates out of the dishwasher yesterday and half of them were still dirty. Cleaned filters, but other half decided to check the drain, so it was dismantled and put back together. Turned it on empty, and an error code appeared on the display and had water all over the floor. At least I have a nice clean kitchen floor! 😒

Hope everyone has an uneventful day.

It's a beautiful day here.

Cold but dry, bright and very autumnal.

A bit confined to home today. Grocery delivery this morning (the first mince pies are here!!!) DPD collection and an Amazon delivery. Telephone consultation with one of our many medical specialists this afternoon and a visit to the pharmacist for supplies to see us over the weekend...

And we thought that retirement would be snuggling down in a cosy armchair in front of a crackling fire with a glass of red wine and a good book or two that we've been meaning to read for years.

However... we did get as far as the Christmas Market in Ely yesterday... lots of people, great fun and a wonderful Cathedral.... first glasses of mulled wine as well! What's not to like?

So good to see so many people enjoying searching for pressies for the people that they love to treat.

Gas engineer has been. Whose a silly boy ? Me. I assumed because I could see the display that the batteries were fine - wrong. It was explained that there was enough power to show the display but insufficient to trigger the boiler. Two new batteries and all is well. Lesson for me and any of you who may be as ignorant as me on these matters. 😁

Time problems!

I have a wall mounted clock which is regulated by the National Time Radio Signal. Yesterday at 22.10 it started running fast. OK, take down from wall and reset. The hands went to 12  and a few minutes later moved rapidly to the correct time. It is working fine this morning.

I have a Sekonda battery watch with dial and it keeps excellent time. When I came to put it on this morning  at 9am before going to the supermarket it had stopped, at TEN PAST TEN 🤯 I shook it about and it started.

I bought a simple Casio digital as a back up for the holiday only to remember when I got home that I bought one 3 years ago. I found it in a drawer and the thing is running 30 seconds fast, after 3 years.

What do you reckon, gravitational wave, cosmic rays. electromagnetic pulse or Aurora Borealis or even little green men.
