Good morning everyone, hope you all had a nice weekend.

Hubby is doing well, better than he did last time. He has just logged on his work computer which I am not happy about, he should be resting not sat in an office chair. He was complaining last night about how uncomfortable he was sat upright on the sofa so he might not be able to work long. He has a Drs appointment later for a dressing change so we will see what they say.

We had an unexpected visit from our daughter yesterday and grandchildren so that was nice. I made an old recipe of my Gran’s for tea, braising steak with onions, carrots and dumplings cooked in gravy served with mash & spring greens.

Hope you all have a nice day

Michelle

Food sounds good. Put a few herbs and some red wine in it and call it something French. In years to come the Grandkids will cook for their kids. What we having Mum ?....Nanny Michelle's beouf de sud de Languedoc.

We are off to the dentist shortly. We both managed to break a tooth on our March cruise on Arvia. I did mine on the last morning. I never have a cooked breakfast but I decided to have one prior to our long coach journey home. I bit into a piece of well done bacon and lost a portion of a tooth. That was an expensive breakfast.

I broke a tooth in Canada and anther one in La Palma. Each time it cost £100 for emergency patching up. Brilliant plan I know,  I'II clain on the travel insurance!..Guess what the excess was.

Just back from the dentist. I have been going to see Jonathan for around 20 years or more and he is brilliant and always gives a range of options where possible. He said I had two options this time, a rebuild of where the outside of the tooth on one side had come away £150 or a crown £350. He thought the rebuild was sufficient for now as most of the tooth was still OK. It was all done there and then and his final words to me were ‘go and have a nice lunch’ which we did.

I visited the dentists today. At breakfast yesterday an upper left molar next to the wisdom tooth disintigrated, bits of tooth and filling everywhere. 😨 No pain though. I have an appointment for Wednesday and I think that tooth will have to come out. No fancy crowns for me, especially if you can't see it. Hopefully the wisdom tooth can stay as when the upper right one was extracted many years ago it was hell and bled for several days. I ended up in hospital getting stitches.

Good evening.

I hope everyone had a productive day.

Today was sad for me as it was my late mam's 94th birthday.

Pauline just said her friends grandson came 18th in the London Marathon.

Like you say Graham a sad day but hopefully lots of happy memories.

To come 18th in the London marathon sounds an absolute amazing achievement to me - well done!!

Hello Graham

I've been here since 2, having had a couple of good nights back to the odd poor one.  It is fairly cold here too, but the forecast says a dry day.  Not sunny and warm, however.  Just had a n email from my friend currently in their house in the western Burgundy area, there for a few weeks, and it has been and is very cold there.  Not what they were hoping for.

I think I forgot to mention that on phoning as suggested to find out about appt. for an  echocardiogram, it turns out to be a 7 month waiting list!  I am two months into it at present.  I suppose I might have guessed it would be like that.  However, not as bad as 24 hours waiting in A and E, though it is good to feel you have been thoroughly investigated, and can then have any necessary treatment.  I hope everyone else going through medical stuff is getting what they need, and feeling well today.

Morning Graham,

I have been up since just after 5am doing the housework.  I am just waiting for 8am to come round before going to take the dreaded teenagers to school.

@lincslady I am sorry to hear that there is a 7 months waiting list for an ECGin your area.  I had one last week that I only waited 8 days for, and saw the cardiologist immediately afterwards to get the result.  Have you not been offered an appointment at a different hospital which is what seems to be happening here ? our neighbour went to Cannock yesterday because there was a shorter queue there than here in Stoke for his condition.

Good Morning Everyone

6c and light showers here this morning. Forecast is for much of the same.

I hope everyone is doing ok and those waiting for medical tests get them sooner than expected! @lincslady - 7 months wait time for an echo seems a long way off - perhaps you'll get a cancellation - fingers crossed for you. I'm awaiting 3 referrals - but no idea how long they'll take - so be it. I'm just grateful that during my very long day in A&E I had all possible diagnostic tests, was treated with care and kindness, and it reinforced what I already suspected - that the NHS is there when you most need it.

@Peanut006 Glad to hear your mum is doing well Michelle - what a turnaround from those earlier very worrying days. Good for her.

@grapau27 I hope your late mam's birthday anniversary was full of lovely memories and well done that young man for finishing 18th in the Marathon. That's some achievement.

Have a good day everyone. Be well. Jane xx

Good morning @lincslady.

Wow 7 months waiting list for an ECG.

I found it is a good idea to keep ringing to see if there are any cancellations for hospital appointments or ask to be on a cancellation list for them to ring you if any appointments come available.

I hope you have a lovely day.

Graham.

Thank you Jane.

My late mam was  very kind to me and a lovely mam and mother in law to Pauline.

She bought me my first car in 1974.

It was a 1972 Ford Escort.

I hope you are fully recovered now after your fall.

Graham.

I'd consider that good news LL. If they were really concered, I would have thought you'd have had an appointment within a couple of days.

Morning all, so much to catch up on so I’ll just say hope all are well.

My mum had a fall at her Home on Friday and had two cuts on her face, the home called an ambulance, phoned me and said she’d phone again when they’d been. We decided after not hearing anything to just go up there . She was fine in herself, bit fed up of the fuss! I’m really glad we were there because when the three(!) paramedics arrived they were quite happy to not take her to hospital whereas the nurse at the home seemed to want her taken in. It was now about 4.30pm on a Friday, we really didn’t think anything would have been gained by taking her in and having a long wait in A&E.

I said as her family we supported the decision to not take her in. She had too small dressings on her face, her BP was fine. She didn’t even have a headache! Anyway off the paramedics went and so did we a bit later.

Went to see her yesterday and she’s got a lovely black eye! Still laughing and joking with the carers. She’s a tough old bird!

John and I both have the day off today, fed up with this miserable dull weather so it looks like a day of chores and sorting out some of mum’s admin. Have a good day all.

Thank you everyone for your replies.  I plan to ring the GP as because   the surgery is in a different NHS area to where I live I could probably get an earlier appointment in this area, where I believe the waiting time is much shorter.  Once I can get past the waiting time on the phone!

And yes, Avril, it was not down as urgent otherwise I think my GP would have made sure it got dealt with more quickly.  I feel OK, just would like to see if the echo shows up anything the 24 hour ECG did not.

I’m sure there’s a ‘basic’ ECG and a more involved one. We book the basic ones where I work in a couple of weeks but the more involved ones are a hospital job and are a longer wait.

I just got a nice surprise in a phone call from the car dealership to tell me that our car was delivered to them yesterday afternoon,  they will do all of their checks on it and we can pick it up on Friday morning, the bank account will be groaning 😁

The children are in for a surprise on Friday when I pick them up from school, they will have been dropped off in a grey car and a red car will be on the carpark to pick them up.

Probably the quickest way to get an ECG is to ring 999 and say you think you're having a heart attack.😯

Not an ECG in the usual sense - an echocardiogram, which I know some of you will have had.  I  I had a 24 hour ECG a few months ago ,which did show up all sorts of things, mostly not important, but they were concerned about atrial fibrillation, which many of us have , and that is being treated with the usual medication.  The echo test is more complicated, a bit like a baby scan I believe and takes longer and needs more special equipment. (I know many of you already know this).  It  is all a bit confusing when you have been lucky enough not to have heart problems.
