just wondering... do shepherds have a good night's sleep?

Morning , I can tell you they do but only after they have counted their flock .

How do I know this ?  Well apart from the day job I also worked for MI5

and would go out undercover dressed as a shepherd.

Yes I was a shepherd's spy   !!!  🙃

Have a good day everyone 🙂

Fabulous photo, what a gorgeous girl. We struggle to get Teddy to sit long enough for a photo after his grooms.

She is a very good girl a little bit lazy until she she’s the chipmunks or rabbits on what we call the moon because it’s all rock and dust where she goes for her walks , she is what they call a mountain herder dog for the goats , she has short legs to nips their back of legs , she drinks her water and food laying down 😂

In that case you're the person to tell us... if a shepherd spy is caught... would s/he be a bit sheepish! And... in answer to the interrogation, would the replies be a bit wooly? And finally... is a meeting of shepherd spies called a flock?

A dull windy start here with rain forecast (of course rain is forecast) We have decided we are staying home today after a busy week.

We seem to have a sheep theme going today so here is my two penneth.

How do shepherds tell their sheep apart?

They have baa codes.

The chuckle brothers ewest to own a massive sheep

It was a two metre ewe.

I like the Stones song "Hey you get off of my cloud"

The Scottish version is better; "Hey McCloud get off of mt ewe"

Wow nice to see a busy thread this morning.

I was awake around 7am but was watching the news on TV.

It is 8°C with dark skies but apparently no rain forecast 🤔.

I hope everyone is feeling well and we all have a nice day.

Yes I am here , it’s a bit difficult to say where for a long term let , depending on if you hire a car here we don’t stay directly in town , this is caleta de fuste we stay in 10 minutes from airport, but have stayed up the hill here that can be cheaper renting but you need a car , then towards town a bit on the golf course which is a better area but ££ , there is lots of self catering in town and on sea front which we haven’t tried yet but researching at the moment for 3 weeks next April/ may .

Personaly we prefer caleta de fuste than Corralejo and Morro Jable which are at both ends of the island.

3 weeks has been the longest we have been out here but that also includes staying in family home and hotels , I think maybe yorkshirephil will have better idea for a long stay because I think he stayed for 6 weeks not long back .

W e normally book through booking.com

self catering areas are:

Broncemar Beach suites

Caybeach Caleta

Castillo Playa

All these are self catering bungalows in town .

Good Evening All. Sadly for the last time,  we head for home back to Kent tomorrow.  We have had a very relaxing 2 weeks in the west country,  1st week with son & dil+ grand kids,  weather was a disappointment,  but has improved this past week  in Cornwall, then Devon.

Tonight's menu.  We started with mackerel (dw) me pork/  cranberry terrine. Both had Haddock filet, followed  by pecan tart & Me the orange  cheesecake.

Pic below.   We have enjoyed all the hotel meals,  it is a treat  to not have to decide which meals for each day normally when at home.

As mentioned previously I will post pictures/ re views over on T.A. Once  settled  back home.

Hope you have enjoyed the pictures  along the way. And thanks for the likes & quotes.

I've enjoyed all your posts and food porn, but that last picture of your orange cheesecake really made my mouth water😋

We prefer Caleta de Fuste too @brian1. Corralejo is fine for a visit and has a nice front but is too city like for us. Morro Jable is pretty but a bit remote and a bit more traditional. Caleta has everything we want. We stayed at Caybeach Cala for six weeks and were contemplating adding a few more weeks but Mrs YP damaged a tendon and trapped some nerves so we headed home.

We went with Jet2 on a package. We didn't bother with a car as we have found that you either use the car because you feel you should or it sits at the roadside. The buses are pretty good and cheap, taxi's OK.

I remember you told me about that when we were on Arvia. Did you have a good time?

Richard has been doing loads on the house, lining paper on in the kitchen/diner just waiting to be painted. Decorator was here this week to paper and paint lounge ceiling too. Still loads to do but downstairs looks like a home now.

Michelle

I’m looking forward to seeing the photos Michelle. Xx

We get a car because I’m a bit of a fidget and like to go to El Cotillo for lunch and Betancuria which was the original capital of the city , fantastic scary drive out to it though with some lovely views and the Ajuy caves with the rough waves , lots of different small private beaches to investigate too .

How did you find Caybeach Cala ? I’m trying to get different prices for next year and we haven’t stayed in town at all

We liked Caybeach, the apartments were clean and tidy with the cleaner coming round 5 days a week and regular bed changes. We had an apartment that was set back from the road and had sun all day. There is a restaurant for those who don't do self catering with a snack bar and a lovely large pool.

They have entertainment in the evenings we did see a good saxophonist one evening but tended not to go very often, preferring to go for a walk in the evenings and stop off for a drink or sit on the prom watching the world go by. We found the Jet2 package for this stay was almost the same price as booking the stay and flights separate.

I've got to ask ,does dirty fries count as food porn ? 🙃

Can I just ask what dirty fries are?  (I know, the rest of the world knows, I am just an old lady living in a backwater).  I imagine  it does not mean chips fried in dirty oil.

It's 10˚C and overcast here today. (For the wiser readers that's 50˚F and dull!) Been awake since 6.00 am wondering... just wondering... do shepherds have a good night's sleep?

Hope that all are well...

Am I the only one who thinks in Celsius for low temperatures but understand high temperatures better in Fahrenheit?

I was good with your 10C but I’m currently in central Florida where I’ve just heard that temperatures are going to go over 90F for the next few days!  No ….. too hot!! 🥵 As my mum would have said ‘there’s no pleasing some folk’. Leaving for the coast tomorrow so hoping for a breeze.

Wishing you all a good weekend, and to my fellow poor sleepers, some good nights 😴😴

I'm with you on the temperature. O° freezing, very easy,  70° perfect!
