It never seems to get old watching a Panama Canal transit on the Panama Canal Authority's webcams. Here's QV today in the Gatun Locks.

Oops! Of course the previous set of locks are the Pedro Miguel locks.

To complete the trilogy, here's QV at the Miraflores locks as seen on the Panama Canal Authority's webcam.

I think that’s because they are using parallel ships to fill adjacent locks.  For Gatun an eastbound ship lowering forces the water sideways to raise the ship in the westbound lane.  At Pedro Miguel the ships were going the same direction, so she had to wait for the ship in the adjacent lock to force the water out and into her lane.  EM

After the transit Queen Victoria has anchored overnight in the Canal Pacific Anchorage. Below is the reason given on a Facebook page.

"The Captain announced a change to the itinerary. Additional hull cleaning is required to remove marine growth. After the ship has gone through the Panama Canal. Divers will work overnight while the ship is anchored. On Sunday the ship will dock at Fuerte Amador . Unfortunately Cabo San Lucas has been cancelled."

The reason given was that the scheduled hull cleaning in Fort Lauderdale couldn't take place because it was too windy there. It was very windy in FL!

Here's QV sailing past Cabos San Lucas a short time ago as seen on the Villa La Estancia webcam found on the cabovillas.com website.

QV was originally scheduled to call at Cabo San Lucas today. That call was canceled when QV had to spend the day in Fuerte Amador for hull cleaning and inspection following her Panama Canal transit. Now it turns out she ended up at Cabos San Lucas briefly today after all to evacuate a patient with a medical emergency.
